Since having a bonus means being matched ONLY against opponents with a bonus too, what stops the players to "co-op" and start auto-conceding when being first to play (no coin)?
This would become the fastest way to ladder until you are out of bonus - then you play normally. Those who don't know about that would find out when they add some friends and they tell them. Don't you agree?
Probably the fact that you can't force you and your friend to pair with each other. The two of you are not the only players with a bonus.
Even with one bonus star you are +2 for a win and -1 for a loss, which makes aggressive concessions viable. I don't think the playerbase will adapt to systemic concessions, as players trying to follow it will get very frustrated when only a minority of opponents reciprocate. However, if your goal is to rank up quickly and you still have bonus stars in effect, it is clearly worth conceding games that are starting to go against you rather than play to your outs.
This is not logical when they give so big streak bonus and players reach rank 5 fast.
I'm literally just saying what Blizzard said themselves. They wanted to match people with similar MMR but still give a sense of progression. It's working for me 🤷🏻♀️

It works for most people. Just get to legend quicker if you dislike normal ranks so much.
If you were legend last month, then you would get 11 stars per win and -1 star per loss. So with a 50% win rate you would ascend the ladder rather quickly. Your first win would move you up to bronze 7 (with 2 stars); then you lose and go to bronze 7 (1 star) then you win and go to bronze 4 (3 stars); then you lose and go bronze 4 (2 stars); and so on. New players wouldn't get the star bonus in the first month so they would have quite a grind, but returning players should get back to their previous ranks pretty easily. Not sure what your complaint is all about.
The general mass population are allergic to critical thinking. They mask this with insults and denial.
The OP has merit in theory - and he is correct in saying that if top streamers were to implement it, then the rest would follow. The majority are sheeple who just copy everyone else. You only need to look for when Thijs (etc) plays a new deck and it's in the meta within 24hrs.
The sheeple are in denial though, and they don't wish to actually think about their position - so they'll continue to criticise and marginalise.
Good work thinking outside the box OP.
there is a big flaw in thinking that any streamer would actually implement it though
people watch streams to see how people play the game not how they are conceding, do you really think that big streamers like Kripp or Thijs would start conceding their games? for what? they can get the same or better results by playing the game
it took me literally 15 minutes and 4 games to get halfway through silver rank from bronze 10, and that was with only 6x multiplier, with higher multipliers you'd just fly through low ranks
No I didn't say it was probably, but it IS plausible. The issue is that people refuse to think outside of the box, and they shit hard on anyone that does. For a lot of reasons stated, the outcome the OP has posted about isn't likely to occur - but it *IS* plausible. It's human nature for people to look for ways to find a cheats way to reach an end goal. It simply comes down to a numbers game of how many are willing to exploit a system vs how many are not.
My understanding is it’s still very similar to the last system in that if you dropped to rank 5 you were still playing other players who dropped to rank 5. It’s just now you have way more ranks to climb, presumably because of the new rewards. If you would try this strategy in the last sytem, then maybe it would work, otherwise I don’t think it will.
That's a negative. This only applies once the multiplier is exhausted - and the OP is referring to exploiting the multiplier.
The two of you are not the only players with a bonus.
Exactly because of this everyone can start doing it when they realize it's faster.
geez, you're one stubborn feller :)
most people don't give a damn about rank, they want to play the game
even on the forum seems you're in the minority about this and I haven't seen anyone do it or mention it anywhere else
even if it does eventually happen (which I doubt it will) blizzard is quickly going to fix, not sure how, but they will find a way
Quite a hypocritical statement when 95% of the respondents to this post are wholeheartedly steadfast and stubborn in their counter-opinion. DIscussion should be exactly that, not people pissing on someone for having an idea that is outside their usual line of thought.
Yes, but the purpose is not clear at all - why go from zero each month when they know our MMR?
As only a few people seem to have figured out - the ranking system is arbitrary for the entire duration of the multiplier. I suspect the only reason it's structured that was is to provide a base line for the stacked rewards as that's the only thing the ranking system serves. Blizzard stated that matchmaking is based on MMR until the multiplier is exhausted, which clearly states the ranking system is redundant until that point!

Just play the damn game...
Playing meme decks/characters does not entitle you to call a meta bad.

That's the whole idea of this thread - to show the flaws in the ladder system so they change it to a full MMR one.
Even if this were consistently possible, you're SUPPOSED to rank up fast until your bonus is gone.

Haven't played much yet under the new system.

To create a sense of progression for the player.
no.

i would be more worried about corona than some flawed theory
