So much easier to get the full set fast. There's nothing worse on day 1 than opening 80 packs, and getting 5-10 of the same common card, and not getting certain ones, and having to craft them to make decks that may not even end up viable...
Not every pack. Once you got all Commons, which is easely achieved, you will get duplicates.
Well yeah, but once you already have them all, you already have them all... I've gone entire expansions opening hundreds of packs and noticed the odd common card I somehow haven't opened, and had to craft it...
Think of all the dust you end up wasting inevitably crafting rare and common cards... if you order a bundle, You're guaranteed to have every common, and most likely every rare.
Basically a week or 2 into the expansion, you can save all dust for epics and legendaries. You can also disenchant any cards that are obviously useless, and never see them again, until you have the whole set.
Before, it made little sense to disenchant commons before you have the whole set, because you're just as likely to get it again. You can fish for cards you want, and gain value from disenchanting useless Epics without having to worry about reopening it in your next pack.
Might not be that big of a thing for big spenders (they get the whole set quick regardless), but for low-medium spenders like me... This is huge.

Missing one or two Commons entirely after over a hundred packs is dumb, and missing good rares when you get 5+ copies of others, or getting an Epic the 3rd or 4th time is kinda painfull.
Also, with this mechanic, you can get some nice amounts of dust whenever a common gets nerfed. When you have all the commons of a given set like Descent of Dragons, and a Common of that set like Invocation of Frost gets nerfed, you should be able to disenchant all copies of that card for the full amount, open another pack, get 2 more copies of that nerfed card (since it would be the only common you are missing from that set again) and disenchant those for the full amount as well. You can do that as often as you want, for as long as the refund period lasts, given that you have some gold to spend on packs. Extra value if a rare was nerfed in the same patch as well.
I mean, it's not a huge amount, but your pack would be guaranteed to contain at least 110 dust (2x nerfed common, 2 random commons, 1 rare), which really isn't bad. And of course, you might be lucky enough to open a golden one instead for 400 dust.
It's nice but not a huge change. We will still open a lot of duplicates:
We'll have all commons after only 25 packs but will need to open 72 to get all the rares. With these 72 packs we should have approximately 25% of the epics only (based on a 20% chance). After that 75% of the packs will just be 40 dust.
This will have a little impact on the choice of either crafting or counting on opening packs luck.
We're saving a little dust as there will be no more common/rare crafting (but that's not a lot). We also will be able to get some dust from golden cards I kept because we didn't have the normal ones.
It's fantastic. I continuously spend gold on all Standard packs, although I buy fewer packs of the old sets. I want to have as complete a complete as I can, within reason. This new system is incredible as now I don't have to wait forever to get that last rare and I'll no longer be wasting my gold on triplicate epics.
A lot of epics are "fun" cards that are only good for experimental decks. This new rule will be a boon for deckmakers.
yeah, Every expansion I end up spending around 2400 dust just on epics for decks I want to build, but with this change that stat should change quite a bit.
imagine, having all commons... and 10 packs unopened... they nerf a common... you disenchant the common, open a pack, get the 2 commons, you DE them again, and open another pack, get 2x the common... every pack gives you 80 dust, and if you open a golden common, it gives you 400 dust... a golden common after a nerf is worth as much as a regular legendary in terms of Disenchanting...

Even more so with Rare and Epic...
I haven't been keeping up with hs news. are there no duplicates now?
Keymaster Alabaster come faster
Not now, but as of the next expansions release, the duplicate card rule that's active on legendaries now, will be active for all rarities.
And yes, this is a great addition. Like they said: every pack will contain new cards. That's amazing. Hope they don't revert it :)

I think this is the best part of announcement yesterday.
Yup, it's preeeetty goood.

if there ever gonna nerf 2 common and 1 rare you can get full dust for all packs + all epic and legendary for very low gold cost :P
its nice for epic to not get duped epics anymore but rare and common i get anyways just by open packs anyways
Wish they had done this years ago. Just opened my 20th or so Kidnapper last week while still having opened exactly 0 Faceless Manipulators.
as of now i have all legendary cards from year of dragon. but not all epics even if it was epic only it would be welcomed change

This is ground breaking, and quite frankly, about ficking time too!! Nothing worse that opening 200 packs and still not have the complete set.
They want $100 for the preorder, well then I should get the whole set for that price!!

Yeah this is great considering I got like 15 embiggens from DoD on opening day

To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffer!
Now I can finally dust this golden Milhouse I was saving for a rainy day!
When does this change start, march 26th or when the next expansion hits?
