We just had a DRAGON-themed expansion (!!!) that ultimately led to an 80% aggro-oriented meta. Are you really that naive? As always, they'll reveal first all the big juicy (and eventually useless) control tools to lure preorders by control players (which are the ones that actually spend big money on the game) and then dump 4-5 cheap, broken supports for aggro archetypes (like some absurd 1cost murloc, or demon for zoolock or board buffer for druid) at the very end of reveal phase. They always did. And always will.
It is sad that the fucking dragon expansion didn’t give us tons of control dragon decks.
Aggro never dies because how this game is designed. Zero interaction between turns. You can just ignore your opponents full board and go face which is absolutely silly.
3) They cant balance even 9 classes, so why not add another...
4) Aggro is not going anywhere.
The card reveal schedule isn't out yet, but since the expansion launches in three weeks, I think it is safe to say that cards will be revealed from next week.
Why is the new ranked system stupid? Faster progression, better matchmaking, more rewards - what's not to like? Please elaborate your criticism.
I honestly don't think one class more or less matters for balance at this point. But there is the issue of class identity: the existing class identities are not always that distinct, and adding a tenth class will not make it easier to create distinction. Then again, isn't variety good? Novelty? Personally, I'm excited to see something entirely new enter the meta.
Aggro definitely isn't going anywhere, agree with you completely. Aggro, uh, finds a way...
1) ok whatever
2) I just dont like the idea of League of Hearthstone or even Hearthstone Legends you know, I just do not like how it looks now, we will see...
3) ok, thats maybe true...however, Im very curious if they also add Monk in summer a Dead Knight in winter.
4) exactly
There's 0% chance they're adding three new classes this year. If monk and DK are coming, it's gonna be at least 1-2 years apart from each other.
I chuckle everytime someone says "death of Aggro", because if there is one constant in Hearthstone it is that aggro finds a way. The title of this thread is especially funny, "Death of Aggro, Year of Value" since a value heavy meta would arguably make aggro better since the best way to shut down value getting out of control is by killing them before it snowballs.
Every single time a rotation pops and right before aggro becomes better than usual. It's like the devs read these "death of aggro" comments and pushes aggro even harder just to fuck with us lmao
Aggro will never die as long as hunters hero power is 2 damage to face this game will have an aggressive deck running around.
As for the people complaining about "dragon expansion having aggro meta" or the lack of good dragon decks:
1. the meta is about huge swing turns atm and the decks that have the best swing turns atm can be weak to aggro.
2. the strongest decks are always going to be the ones that can feature op cards from multiple sets in the format that play well together (highlander or lackeys for example atm) = not enough good dragon support in the format = most classes don't have enough good cards to build a dragon deck around.
3. Aggro is good for climbing due to fast matches (duh)
4. one of the best decks in the meta atm is a dragon deck (dragon hunter) so why do you complain Kappa.
I almost quit the game 5 times. Undertaker Hunter, Mysterious Paladin, 4 mana 7/7 Shaman, Get in here Warrior, Jade Druid.
Basically, when the game is 1 deck to rule them all meta. From my point of view, the deck archetype doesn't matter, aggro, tempo, control, as long as it's not a 1 deck meta, otherwise the game itself is fine.
Buffing Priest is good, otherwise the only control viable class will be Warrior. Also, buffing control cards mean Blizzard can print better aggro cards, buffing Priest is the beginning of a new era of new power creeping. It used to be power creeping basic/classic sets, but from this year onward it will be power creeping cards from older sets.
Seeing Blizzard Unnerfed some cards is also a good thing, it means they are consider this option instead of printing new cards to power-creep the nerfed cards.
I still play from time to time, but I don't feel the want to quit as easily anymore. The reason being is 1) I quit being competitive, a try hard to climb the ladder every month, and focus on my love for card game, which is deck-building, and stay at rank 10 on average. 2) (sadly to say this) probably because Ben quit the job.
Ever since he quit, Team5 is being more responsive towards the meta and very fast to fix or nerf overpowered cards, like Galakrond Shaman when first release. During the time Ben is working in Blizzard, it took many months (some almost a year) to fix a card. Not saying his quitting is the reason for the better change though.
Now the reason to quit is solely based on money, since the game is even more expensive than ever. It's a good thing Blizzard decide to change the pack opening algorithm. But next time I decide to quit, it will be because I can't afford the game anymore. Blizzard took all my money :P

At least Monk will be a control class for sure. Maybe that is the reason why DH is a full blow on your face aggressive class at the moment.
"The Death of Aggro"
This Expansion gives Kayn Sunfury : Ability *Ignore enemy Taunts*. Don't think aggros dead.

death of aggro?
How many times have we heard this so far?

Ziliax is also getting phased out. Priest's ability to counter aggro has never been an issue; they're simply remodelling the class.

You're an old schooler. Have you played the last three years ? There were few more reasons to quit :)
