Just as I predicted - you can quit on turn 1 depending on the match-up and your hand - it's faster when you have a bonus pool since you lose MMR and don't lose time to play an unfavourite game.
I confirm that, on my winstreak, i didn't not get x2 stars after 5
Is that Diamond-5? One early thing that I find annoying is there's no textual representation of your division. Sure the border colours look a bit different, but I don't think it's really clear for a lot of people - especially not those who are colorblind!
If you are a common legend grinder, or even rank 5 grinder which gives a "x9" star boost at this point, the climb back up to rank 10 (now known as diamond) is fairly trivial. I'm back up to gold 1 with only 6 or 7 wins, and if patterns follow, platinum won't be much slower.
I enjoy the idea of starting everyone off at the same starting line each season, but I suppose the advantages given to high finishing players were necessary. Having to slog through 50 ranks one star at a time might be a little much to ask for folks who want to compete for high legend and such.
In any case, I've been away from the game for a few months, but with the announcement that the HCT will be online-only for the near future, AND invites going to the top 16 ladder finishers, you will see me ruthlessly grinding this month. I miss the tournament days of Magic: the Gathering, and decided this is the year.
Hope all are well and healthy.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.

This is cool and I wish you gl, but I think you'll find that the climb gets a lot slower as you progress. I'm currently plat 8 and my star bonus has already been reduced to 4 from the 10 I started with. It took me about 30 minutes to get here, but I anticipate possibly another few days for high diamond given how quickly the star bonus seems to go away as you get higher.
Only Cheat Roque (Highlander Galakrond) Abuser and the same opressive Dragon Hunter, both hard to get by with Highlander Hunter, vs Dragon Hunter its even just 40% according to HS Replay, and I can see why, you are just getting pushed against the wall from the Get Go. VS Cheat Roque HS Replay Stats seem way too optimistic, I'am nearly below 50% which shouldn't be but its true. No chance against a class that doesn't pay Mana for any Minions and that gets one Minion for playing one Minion, which means their Hand never empties. :D
Getting to Diamond 10 / equivalent to Rank 5 is still very easy due to (even more) Bonus Stars, but its April 1st and all the Legendary nerds are still around on pretty much all Ranks.
Stuck on Platinum a bit for now, but will get to Diamond in a couple hours... ^^
Any information on this? I had assumed that any loss was a reduction of 1 star - but my first loss at Bronze 8.3 didn't lose a star.
Blizzard are sooooo shit at communicating the finer details of what they are doing!
You don't lose stars in Bronze ranks. Blizzard told it.
My bad then, seems the fault is with my eyes and not with their words. For me I think it would've been better to maintain consistency across all the divisions and have a 1-star loss for a loss, and winstreak all the way to legend. After all where the winstreak bonus ends, your multiplier is already dead so it's gonna be grindy enough as it is.
If you're going to rebuild the ranking system, don't go cherry picking bits from the old system and stuff them into the new one.

I think if you have a look at how they have structured the new system, it's essentially arbitrary until you exhaust your multiplier. Matchups are completely independent of the rank until that point. So essentially having everyone start at the bottom and climb up is only beneficial for the new stacked rewards system.
As the other poster said, it's going to be a hard grind once you exhaust your multiplier - but it sure gives the good vibes to gain 9 stars for a win and 1 for a loss etc

it took me less than 30 wins to get back to legend, the winstreak does the job. started at 11 bonus since i was legend last month. I am sure it was less than 30 wins since i was still earning gold for winning earlier today lol. I think legend is just a formality, i am far from cnsidering myself amount the best, even very good ones, and it took less than 3 hours on day 1...
Well done! I think it's going to be harder for non-legend players to reach the rank though - that multiplier stacks like compound interest and when it runs out the grinds is going to be harder than the old system. The great thing about the new system is it should be super easy for players to tread water at a specific rank each month.
I really like the new ladder! feels like you actually get rewarded for playing and the bonus stars makes the grind more bearable and also rewards playing instead of just buying.
you might be right, i need another month to retry lol. i still have a x2 bonus in legend, showing over the legend rank, weird.
You were high legend then? What was your legend rank?
You're going to get a multiplier until you return to the rank you finished the previous season in - regardless of what that was. It's just a little difficult to decipher what that is with the change over - it'll be clear next month.

This is the real question hahahahaha! It’s not like skill is relevant much anymore anyway so this is actually a worthwhile question.
2h40 minutes, easy climb
Did you had a streak to legend?
lost 3 games in a row at rank 5 diamond, then it went back up
Thanks. That's useful info. :)

Looks like the ladder is aids now. Everyone is tryharding and playing aggro, or residentsleeper control warrior.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ranked is just awful and boring.
