Right now I'm seeing raves about Highlander Warrior, Mage, Rogue, and Hunter.
However, despite having the cards to build the most optimized decks for each of these archetypes, I'm finding that the ladder has effectively teched against them. Warlocks and Priests are the biggest Highlander blockers, but I see Bad Luck Albatross as a staple of most desks now days, regardless of their build.
What is your experience on ladder with Highlander decks? Are you finding them relevant in the current meta, or are you, like me, finding your payoff cards like Zephrys the Great and Dragonqueen Alexstrasza dead in your hand, of you even draw them at all from the multitude of Albatross's that end up in your hand?
I’m about rank 5-3 Americas right now and I’ve been feeling good with playing these cards. I’ve been playing a handlock variant though and don’t rely on these cards as I play many duplicates. They are very good top end finishers against the midrange and control decks But are lacking against aggro.
Out of all Highlander blockers only Priest can completely shut them out.
Therefore its still a great option, since Zephrys, Brann, Reno and Dragonqueen are some of the biggest Swingcards, and there will be more Highlander support printed.
I have 64% winrate over 94 games with Highlander Hunter (EU, ranks 5 to legend, this season and the previous one), so I have no complaints.
Regarding Bad Luck Albatross, only deck I've seen running it consistently has been res priest, and honestly I'm quite relieved when they play it because it means they are less likely to resurrect taunt/heal/removal. It deactivates the best cards in my deck and makes my draws worse, but if they keep resurrecting it I can just go face and close the game early enough so that it doesn't matter.
Edit: I've just checked matchup-specific stats and realized that in all those 94 games only 6 were vs priest, so yeah, I don't usually have to worry too much about albatross lol.
Running Highlander Dragon Paladin around rank 3. Been a very fun grind from rank 20 with lots of changes. Priests and Rogues give me the most trouble. Hunters are the easiest matchup which has been great as of late!

I want y'alls luck. At rank 3 right now, and I see res priests once every three games or so.
i already crafted zephrys and dragonqueen, should i burn more dust to get the hunter legendaries like brann and dragonbane just to play HL?
