I just say 'Thank you' and then rope the ropers. I don't let it bug me. Sometimes when they see that you are unfazed and committed to doubling the length of the game they relent.
Typically I am a 'Hello' and play as quickly as I can player.
I feel that if you netdeck something that is oppressive to all the players that actually wanted to compete with deck concepts they hoped that could work... But they don't... Because Blizzard did a poor job tuning the deck being popularly netdecked...
You deserve to be roped.
(Passive agressively you take the brunt Blizzard should. This is why bimonthly balance changes are needed)
and there's a few things i hate PRIEST and guys that constantly have answers perfect answer perfect answer perfect answer again and again and again and finally u kill him and emotes scum so if any of those TRIGGERS me i always rope them before they die it's just tradition for me at this stage but no i don't do it cuz i got better things 2 do with my life than triggered trash in arena i just kill em gut em and move on usually
The rope/turn timer system in Hearthstone is far from perfect, but it is what it is - right now at least, you have to play within its confines - which is to allow them to take full turns if they so wish.
Because by default it should lower both you and your opponent's wins/hr (which is honestly what you're looking for, given that the ladder is a grind for the most part), I can only imagine someone doing that if they think they might get some extra wins out of it. I don't think it's a good reason, but that might be their reasoning.
Magic Arena has a slightly better system - for any turn that you go fast enough that the rope doesn't even appear, you get contribution towards a time extension - which you can use to extend the rope on a later turn if things are particularly complicated. This encourages people to go faster, and also means people's turns aren't too long if they're roping as much as possible (because they won't have time extensions either). That system isn't perfect either though - there's still a long time the opponent can just do nothing and eat up time in a turn cycle.
Also, how were they playing? I recently encountered a bot that, in addition to everything else, roped every turn - though in that case, I can't say if it's because it had been programmed to rope, or because it still had minions that could attack (I was able to tell it was a bot by it not being programmed to deal with a taunt minion).
It astonishes me that everyone seems to think that roping all the way to the end timer is considered "BM" and nothing else. While there are those pricks that do it intentionally out of spite (ableit a minority) there are also people that..you know...actually think out their turns by weighing what other options they have, if "x play" would be better than "y play." Also accounting for certain cards your opponent has in their hand as well as your own (ex. figuring out what cards your opponent's Alex gave them but didn't play them could mean something) thinking ahead, knowing what's left in your deck etc etc...
If you ever watch Trump's videos and stream you would understand what I mean. Of course he tends to over think things but he's using his brain and using the most time he has to his advantage, unlike most HS players. As well as players at tournaments try to do their best with the time they have to win, an incentive to do when you're risking a grand prize of over a grand in money.
Instead of sitting there, getting mad staring at the screen, and making Hearthpwn threads maybe just hop out of your seat and do like 15 pushups every time you get roped?
That would truly be beating ropers like me at our game ; )
Roping is the best answer to aggro metas that wants fast and short games.. On the other hand, is also really helpful when you play games while working or eating..
Ropers are dicks, period. I wish Blizzard would take punitive action towards ropers and ban them from ranked play if they abuse the mechanic. It's a pure waste of everyone's time for purely selfish reasons.
If you don't like the deck you're facing do everyone a favor and concede, and consider staying out of ranked. Leave the rest of us alone.
Yup netdecking and getting lucky on top of it calls for it.
You're clearly one of the toxic players that can make not just this game but games in general feel miserable. If people aren't abiding by what you deem to be fun and acceptable then they deserve poor conduct from the other player. I'm guessing you sit there with your awful decks after thinking you're Afreat dcej builder and getting spanked repeatedly by effective decks (of which there are many) and then get really upset because e eryone is revolving their play around your crappy meme decks.
Only evil, unscrupulous and immoral people rope in purpose, good people doesn't. It's pretty obvious but someone had to say it. Roping is a kind of violence, just like spamming emotes all the time.
Peace or Violence??? Good or Bad??? Order or Destruction??? Light or Darkness???
Choose a side, people, once and for all, because I have made my choice eons ago!!! ;)

The problem is not him, dude, the problem is the fact good people usually do nothing meaningful to solve certain problems. If good people had the balls to do something important once in a while, instead of just complaining like crybabies most of the time, while waiting for a miracle or some sort of hero to save them, Hearthstone and the World itself would be a better place for everyone, but fortunately that is not the case, hehehehe. ;)

How do you cope with a player like this ?
i had to edit this threat, sorry for that name calling...
Hooked HearthStone player
Greets SinFull
(Sin is in)
There are two options for you:
A. You play the game patiently. I usually browse Reddit or Hearthpwn if I play against a roper.
B. You concede and search for another game. Faster, but you lose stars. Better if you play aggro deck.
Ropers were always was and will always be.
Obey C'Thun, Praise The Darkness, Pet Hakkar, the Soulflayer, Love Yogg-Saron, Hope's End

I play exclusively arena

I forgot, I also rope people who refuse to use any punctuation at all.

Be a dick get roped.

Against most hated classes:
1. Hunter (Non Interactive, only going face)
2. Priest (Non interactive, only canceling your plays until fatique)
I always rope and doing household stuff or writing whats app messages, or queuing some youtube videos/netflix movies
TBH I rope to get over into the kitchen and grab more food :P
I'll play my turn then without clicking End Turn, run out and do what I need, run back and emote Oops. Gives me the maximum possible time to get back.
But if you see me do this once, it'll usually only be once.

I rope back. 9/10 players stop roping after the 3rd or 4th turn when they realize I'm doing it intentionally.
Edit: Be prepared for a 40 minute game 1/10th of the time.
If everybody playing Hearthstone roped each other every turn for as long as possible it would be a more balanced meta.
