They did fix prep, and shadow step is a fair card for a tempo-driven class because it reduces board presence. Your point that rogue always has a place in the meta is valid, however, but that’s because of a decent classic and basic set in backstab, Edwin, etc. The power of the class lies in swingy tempo plays and staying on the board so it’ll always be there to beat certain Aggro or midrange decks. It’s not unbeatable
probably the best classic/basic set by a mile. Unlike some of the other classes with good classic/basic sets, Rogue's is aggro/tempo focused, and that is usually the best way to be successful in HS.
Rogue is by design a very flexible class which i believe is a major reason it’s always in the meta mix. It’s not the easiest nor the most polarizing class but it’s ability to be a jack of all trades master of none that make it shine

What??? Rogue is NOT an aggro/tempo focused class, dude, it's tempo/combo oriented.
The only rogue deck that I can remember immediately is the pre-pre-nerf The Caverns Below list (the 5/5's). fter people figured out how to play this deck it was by far the strongest deck in the meta. Maybe old miracle rogue, but it could still lose against other strong decks in the meta back then.

I would agree with you that the class relys in swingy tempo plays and staying on the board if that last expansion didn't exist because Rogue have NOTHING to do about tempo anymore, nothing. It's all about insanely retarded card generation, highrolls every turn with lackey mechanic, HUGE , exaggerated amount of cheating mana.
We all know Edwin was never a real problem before even with the rise of Spirit of the shark which was popular for some time, but now this is just ridiculous man, i dont want him to get HoF because i'm main rogue and almost never played any other class in the game so i obvsly love the card but i dont think this is going to happen because the dev team seems to have no clue what they are doing. I see people saying HoF Leeroy all the time, dude Leeroy sucks put that in your mind there is a lot of broken stuff going on and it's not because of Leeroy it's because of powercreep every stupid expansion.
Backstab and Sap are just ridiculous if you take a closer look at them.
Blizzard tryed and probably will try to make cards with those effects on minions ( like that pirate that saps a guy , but I cannot remember the name atm), but makeing a card that could replace those would be powercreep beyond all madness.
Everytime i play Tirion, and he gets Sap‘d I think " Hmm 2 Mana: make your opponent skip a turn and make his Tirion cost 16 Mana... seems balanced...."
Its an extreme example for sure, but it shows how polarizing the card is.

This is exactly it. It's amazing that of all the hearthpwn complaints, you never hear anything about sap. Sap is probably the single best card in hearthstone, but is just so straightforward it doesn't seem like it is. Anything you cast it on more expensive than itself is tempo advantage for the rogue, and at 2 mana that's most of the game. It is a pseudo "silence and destroy a minion" for two mana. Now, obviously it isn't this exactly because the drawback is it generates a two card advantage for your opponent. Rogue, however, generally doesn't care about this, because rogues only care for tempo, and sap is the ultimate in tempo cards against slower decks.

Although I agree with you that they need to do some toning down on powercreep (and in my opinion do some heavy nerfing in wild now that they are supporting it more), I don't agree with you that cards like Leeroy and Edwin aren't problems. Edwin has almost always been a main stay in nearly every Rogue deck, and Leeroy has been in nearly every aggro deck. They have been the top tier cards of the classic set since the beginning of time and that doesn't happen when you're a balanced card.
Yeah kinda, Rogue is always above average to great but never bad in any meta.
Prep before the nerf was so nuts. And Vanish is gone. I think the problem with current Rogue isn't tempo or basic set. It's the highroll potential and the insane card generations. It's kinda weird that Rogue has a lot more value than a class like mage in this expansion.
Why do all classes see good and bad times except for rogues????
Why is it the only class that ALWAYS has some good to disgunstigly OP deck no matter what the expansion is like?
Because it has the most broken classic card set of all. This is why. Is it so hard to realize? Why is it so difficult to balance once and for all?
Why can't they fix shadowstep? Why can't they fix preparation?
Why is VanCleef the ONLY class specific legendary that no matter what ALWAYS sees play?

If this is true, please list down all the Rogue decks in every meta that are "disgustingly OP".

Rogue is a very popular class because of it's dynamic tempo style that combines many cheap spells and flashy "miracle" turns,
So it become many streamers favorite class (game-play is interesting, fast and elegant to watch, increase stream popularity)
therefore Blizzard prioritize Rogue over some of the other classes (better basic cards, less devastating nerfs, more support for many archetypes etc.)
Good classic and basic set unlike priest.
Shadowstep - Zephyrs
Shadowstep - Dragonqueen
Shadowstep - Togwaggle
See a pattern? Create powerful battlecry minions and let Rogue play them twice (at least.)
Even better is when my last Rogue opponent discovered two more copies of the Dragonqueen through lackeys.
hero is a woman.

Lackeys really fucked up this game.
Rogue have many good classic cards can keep her in your feet most of the time but is unfair to say is an overpowered class.
Never had a "roguestone" in HS history but...
Have a shamanstone when midrange shaman destroy everything else and in the first week of DoD.
Have a prieststone before Raza nerf.
Have a druidstone after the release of KFT.
Have a paladinstone with MC before the rotation and release of Eater Of Secrets.
In other words, rogue never was in the garbage tier but never was in Tier S too.
rogue balanced
member odd rogue, old quest rogue, pirate rogue? good times
Yes, Tier 1 with odd/even paladin, even warlock and shaman and for short odd mage.
But never Tier S where any other class can really challenge the top deck.
