I find that, yes, resurrect cards are unhealthy for the game. Label this as a salt thread if you want, but I want to share my opinion and see what others think. Having an opinion about the game's design and having a civil discussion about why or why not the opinion is valid is not being salty. It's having an opinion. Which is fine, at least outside of the internet.
So, what's the big deal? They've always been a thing. Well, there's a simple answer to this. Once you've dealt with a threat, the threat should remain dealt with. The issue here is that, often for a fraction of the cost, you can resurrect a creature, or even multiple. When someone gets Catrina Muerte, Obsidian Statue, and Ragnaros the Firelord from a mass resurrection, they're getting the value of 25 mana from a 9-mana card. This isn't even considering Archmage Vargoth.
See, in MTG, there's a term for this - it's called cheating things out. And it's not something I see many people who are happy about. The best deck in MTG standard is currently one revolving around cheating out big things. And it's degenerate. Hearthstone follows this in a similar vein, with cards like Voidcaller, Eternal Servitude, and Archmage Vargoth. Simply put, you're getting more value from something than you should. This is why, as fun as cards like Voidcaller and Vargoth are to play, they're annoying to play against. That's the crux of the issue, which I'll get into in a bit.
Another issue is that when you've dealt with a threat, the threat should be gone. That's part of how the game works. I play Fel Lord Betrug and you Naturalize him? It should end there. But then, I play Bloodreaver Gul'dan! I get him back, along with two Voidlords, Mal'ganis, and a few imps. That's 29 mana, not even including the imps. So, for 10 mana, I not only get 29 mana worth of cards, but they're things that were already killed by the opponent. Things that are dead should stay dead.
I find this incredibly unhealthy for the game, and while the above reasons play a part, I think they're just what cause the true issue. It's not fun to play against resurrect cards. When your opponent stalls with Convincing Infiltrators for 3 turns, destroying your board, and summoning a total of 5, that's the opposite of fun. When an opponent plays Bloodreaver Gul'dan, bringing back everything you worked so hard to kill? That's not fun.
Call me salty if you will but I think this is a genuine issue. If you want to be civil and disagree with me properly, please tell me why! I'm curious what others think - after all, this is a forum. A place for discussion.
I have been leveling up my priest class (779/1000) on the resurrect archetype decks and loving it the whole way. I've not gotten past 13 though, but dusting gold cards is something I only recently discovered was smart... there's no place for vanity in this game unless you're vain as a person lol.
I agree with you're 25 mana on a 9 mana card, with a Vargoth on the board and a choice 1 cost Spirit of the Dead or Embalming Ritual at the ready after the 9-cost card... man, it can get CRAZY quick!
But the decks, aren't that unbeatable. When I first started, shaman's, druids, every tempo deck that got a lot of minions on the board and then hit 'em with a +3 or whatever... So past the 18th level on the ladder, it becomes increasingly difficult to advance or achieve a good win rate. I find that I almost have to "gear" my Rez deck for each tier, and only recently discovered what happens when you hit 15... haha, after 2 years.
Every class has a counter to it. And there's even a card that gets rid of all copies of a card wherever they may be (except, haha, the banishment doesn't apply to resurrected minions). Gearing your decks for whatever archetypes give you trouble is the key to advancing in the game each month. I've done that with my Rez priests by salting them with enough low-cost taunt, or taunt-lifesteal minions so that my priest decks can get to the 5 and 6 cost cards I want to play. Wasting the first few on the ever-present counter cards, I sometimes even wait till 6 or 7 to follow up with a 2 cost Seance.
It's a way fun deck to play, but one caveat, each game can take 20-30 mins. I was involved in one game where we both had N'Zoth (vs. Rogue) and a LOT of death rattle minions and savannas and reloads and vanishes... it was CRAZY!
A little over 200 more wins and I can put my priest class on the shelf. I love the variations of the Legendary cards that play well in a Rez deck with taunts and life steals, obelisk, Galakrond, Plagues, Mass this or that, Murozond, Wild with Obsidian Statutes. I love Convincing Infiltrators, embalmed, with spirit of the dead 1 or 2 stealth. lol

play any deck with that card, and come here to apologize.
easy to sell as overpowered using best scenario ever.
first is 9 mana (have you ever had a 9 mana card in hand at turn 2 in an aggro meta?), second you have to be good to set up a deck that doesn't fuck it up, third you have to be good enough to play minion before without fucking it up. (your case is strong yes, what about when you didnt get those minion before getting the card?) zerek cloning can help yes... but wait... another 9 mana card....

It's more important whether it's fun to play against a deck than it is to play with it, in my opinion. It's almost never fun to play against decks like Res priest, or a deck relying on Gul'dan, regardless of the fact they're fun to play as.
Priest class has been utter shit for a few expansions now so let the class have a deck that is competitively viable for a little while. There will be new cards added into the meta soon enough to change things up a bit anyways. I don't like playing against certain types of decks and if that happens I have the option to concede and move on to play a match I will enjoy much more.
Some resurrect is fine. By biggest problem with the mechanic is how overdone it is. I don't think resurrect priest should always be an option in standard and it's getting pretty boring to play against.
You can thank Face Hunter and Galakrond Warrior players for the popularity of Quest Resurrect Priest as both those decks have the worst match up against this Priest deck according to HSReplay.
For the original question, yes, very unhealthy. I said that like a billion times, I will repeat it another billion times.
Resurrect mechanic is unhealthy for the game. With the reborn mechanic, it is even worse. All resurrect quest priest players, who are not good enough to play something with some dignity are crying about Albatross and Sheep and etc, but what do you think about 11th Convincing Infiltrator, or Khartut Defender. Especially mass resurrection cards are stupid as fuck, with Vargoth and Catrina. It is especially polarizing, super RNG-driven, when it works, it is extremely cancerous for the opponent and for the meta. When it does resurrect a bunch of birds like 4.5% of the time, you lose, yeah, too bad.
When all the resurrect cards are rotated out, I really really hope the Team 5 gives priest other tools, like dragons, other control tools, murlocs, demons and etc. and they just give up on resurrect mechanic.
Eh . . . Mass resurrect is not a priest exclusive mechanic, and has been used to better effect in both Paladin (anyfin goes / Kangor Mech) and Druid (Hadronox Taunt) and were generally considered balanced or under powered despite having a similar non-interactive passive early game plan as current resurrect priest, and having much more controllable consistent results on their resurrects. I am not entirely sure what exactly is the main issue with quest res priest. It might be the high value deathrattles, Khartut providing easy quest completion, or just people already triggered by big priest, but I think that there are plenty of significantly unhealthy mechanics in standard that are more of an issue then Resurrect priest.

For Wild, yes it is deeply unhealthy - the mode hit a critical mass of res stuff with vargoth long ago, and barnes before that. The 'big res priest' archetype is the least fun to play against of any wild archetype IMO, regardless of its power level which fluctuates a lot if you are just talking about meta winrates. The gameplay it produces is a waste of time, for both players involved IMO.
For standard it's a different matter - but everytime they print a card for standard that slots in to it, there is a risk of it making it's wild brother even more degenerate.

Whether something is "unfun" is purely subjective. Maybe you find it unfun because you are dealing with such opponents all wrong.
With Rez Priest, you have a fighting chance if you play your cards right - you can burst them down before they get their high value minions up; you can dilute their rez pool with Albatrosses, Toads, Whelps, Sheep, etc; and/or you can save your board wipes for their big rez turns.
Personally, I find playing against rez decks interesting since it forces you to play differently and think carefully. It is aggro decks like Face Hunters which are much more unfun to play against.
To me, this is the same as saying "I don't think Battlecry is healthy for the game", or Taunt, or Healing. It's a part of the game, it's part of just about every single game of this type, so if you for whatever reason can't handle it, despite the fact that the mechanic has been around forever and the game itself has thrived, then maybe this just isn't the game for you.
I will never understand how people can believe that a game is better if there are simply less and less options involved in actually playing it.
The unfun tag means almost nothing in these circumstances.
You think it's unfun to ress 3 minions, others think it's unfun to get steamrolled by Ancharr or comboed by 28+ by charge minions by Warrior, or near dead by turn 5 by Face Hunter, or highrolled by Apothecary Rogue, or one shotted by Holy Wrath, the never ending floodage of Zoo Lock, Shaman's 8/8s and Shudderwocks...
In MTG Ressing decks were always a thing. I remember playing around Ravnica you could discard an Akroma, Angel of Wrath with Compulsive Research and ress it the next turn. It's as Big Priest as it gets, and on MTG minions are even always healed back to full at the end of every turn and that wasn't a problem.
Any deck packing a reasonable amount of removal can deal with it. But if you're playing a strategy that relies sorely on killing someone as fast as possible and to do that completely foregoes AOE, removal or any form of comeback or stats or value later when things go sour, you have no right to complain, just like players Hero Powering and passing the first 4 turns can't when they brick and get overrun early.
Pretty much every class has ways to deal with it, just depends if you what chose to use in your decks makes you favoured or unfavoured. And everyone can tech Zul'Drak Ritualist if it's a major issue for you.

This is such a cringe read. Your entire first paragraph is literally just you trying to stifle responses and claim you aren't salty, and it comes across incredibly pathetic. And then, you for whatever reason deemed it necessary to make your final paragraph THE EXACT SAME THING. Let me tell you something. If you dedicate that much effort trying to claim you're something you aren't, you definitely are.
That being said. The only things that are unhealthy are those which have no counterplay. Rez has counterplay, and not just for mage and shaman (hex, sheep). If you're playing priest THAT much, tech in any of the minion options that spawn useless 1/1s for both players or just the opponent.
But again, Jesus Christ with half of your post defending saltiness. This is the cringiest read in a long while.

And everyone can tech Zul'Drak Ritualist if it's a major issue for you.
play the 3/9 taunt. pr0blem s0lved.
Over use of "cringe" is crin.... super fucking lame. Keep that shit on the reddit teen boards where it belongs.
