@Hooghout: this version of priest really doesn’t take much skill. You rely on a very simple gameplan with very few minions. I haven’t played it but I am sure even I could win some games with it and I only played a lot of Hunter

True, HS doesn't need much skill. The skill floor is too low imo. But relative to mentioned two main win conditions priest takes skill to master and to play. But in general you are right.

I did not know people actually enjoyed dr boom mirrors, they did look exceptionally boring to me.
But of course we each have our own understanding of toxic. That is why I state mine when I discuss it so that people can judge for themselves how it links to my argumentation.
In here i argued that the style where priest does not actively play the game for a significant number of turns can be perceived as bad gameplay and indeed I think it is.
It just doesn’t feel good playing your hand knowing that if you hit the priest he heals and if you wait he will draw answers. I don’t think that is how a good fun game should work. Games should be fun and winnable by both players.
e.g playing highlander hunter vs combo priest was fun. The match up was swingy but both players were able to draw well and make plays and winrate was pretty even. That is good and fun.
I don’t hate priest in general. But I do hate this deck and when n’zoth was in standard. Combo priest was cool and I really enjoy the few times I encounter it still.
I would like the game to be a bit more centered on board and curve and less on combos/mana cheating. I think that also improves skill and reduces the amount of game lost solely to the match up. But maybe people just enjoy getting their combos off and the flashiness of it too much for blizzard to go away from it

I would say that my highlander hunter of last expansion took some skill. Having less consistency and card draw requires you to really consider what minions to play and how to trade

Yes, exactly my point. Right again. It doesn't matter what class you play. Less consistency it welcome as it makes you think twice before you just spam your minions., burn, buffs and chargers ( which is quintessential to a mindless gameplay).
Priest is one of the classes with the least consistency due to bad classic cards, the fact that in general their beefy minions are one manna too expensive. Therefore it is harder to master and to figure out.
Much respect to Zetalot.
The skill floor would raise if card design wouldn't allow consistency archetypes.

For sure. but this is the problem - new players / noobs (like the original post) feel misery when facing priests (because of the sophisticated and "sadistic" style of Priest class and Priest players). The game is oppressive to new comers anyway (low card pool, low skill, no meta knowledge etc.) - I think Blizzard should ban priest in the low ranks and allow it from Rank 10 (or 5)
Highlander Rogue destroys priest. Almost 100% winrate against priest. Only lost one matchup were I got bad draws and the opponent managed to roll Katrina from psycho pomp.
In high ranks players have the "tools" and game understanding to play fairly vs Priests,
In rank 10-20 most players are very casual and many has limited collection and knowledge,
As a result match vs Priests feel like a bad game experience - since Priest players are usually more skilled and the class has great tools to abuse new or no low skilled players.
1. I absolutely hate Quest Priest. It is one of the least fun decks to play against because it doesn't really interact with you. It's largely wondering if they drew the right answers at the right time.
2. GalaShaman is in refinement mode. It's still good, and it will get better. It destroys Priest. It will destroy priest harder in the coming weeks.
3. It's also completely helpless against Holy Wrath Paladin, which is a deck that will probably see increased play as Shaman is refined.
4. I don't have updated data yet, but Priest doesn't appear to have great match ups outside of all hunter and warrior variants. It looks to be about 50/50 against Rogue. All of these stats are consistent with my personal observations as well.
5. We are getting 35 new cards in a few weeks. If priest is good for a few weeks, that's okay.
HM. There are anti-res priest tech cards. They aren't particularly good, but they exist. If the problem truly becomes that bad, these cards are here.

Well I don't think noobs at rank 5 suddenly become skilled players handling priests, since by default they play low skill aggressive ranking up. Regardless the rank, priests, even for skilled players, go down by default against a noob playing bloodlust shaman.
The reason why the skill floor is that low is to give noobs the rush of ranking up with an appropriate deck. In HS reaching legend has little to do with skill, more with the cunningness to appreciate the combination of RNG and RPS.
But I agree that priests are generally more skilled players.

Oh i also put albatross just because i hate Zephyr with all myself.... It just works...
...and I thank you for the win for my Quest Priest deck.
Was laughing my ass off yesterday when opponent had albatross in his/her quest priest deck. It only makes your deck worse. I appreciate if I have some more cards in my deck when playing against other quest priest, don't care if they are 1 mana 1/1 which you can easily buff with your hero power. Did not even bother to silence it, as there are far more important use for it. Also by running 2 albatrosses you will make your rez pool bad and you have to give up 2 much more useful cards in your deck.
I know this, I have tested it (albatross) earlier also myself and realized that it is actually quite bad in that deck.
Ehm..... i am winning basically all the netting quest priests..... my quest priest is different, i found lot of useless card in the popular one. if you need a plague in late game and you get an albatross not sure how happy you will be (and between cathrina, cloning, resurecction and the deathrattle res 2 minion i can put lot of them in your deck) if you want friend match me (Morto in game)
ps:psycotomb is much worse minion to resurect and to zerek cloning than the albatross.
The biggest problem is that they are also the only class with any mass silence. One neutral minion that has a Mass Disspell battlecry, and all issues are solved.

But it's bad against many other decks, so not super relevant here. If you are experiencing overall success with it, that's proof that Quest Priest is warping the meta in a bad way.

Galakrond Quest Priest is really just ho-hum; another board clear with a bonus weapon and a tad of armor. The random minions are just that. One game they help you and another game they just clog your hand. It's just not consistent enough compared to the others. And most importantly, Galakrond's Wit does not have any impact on the battlefield. Raid the Sky Temple never saw much play and it actually discounted the random spells acquired.
Every class has good and bad moments in the sun but Priest seems to suffer from far more abuse than the other classes.

No, it can't. Not if the Priest player knows what they are doing. Hex may slightly increase your chances, but it's far from a silver bullet.
