Not really put an end to it, but the expanded the anti-aggro toolkit. They filled alot of niches that have been empty for a while. Most decks should now have some good choices to improve their mid game, which in turn will make the rush decks easier to combat.
There are still more cards to come, but interestingly enough, there aren't many more new control options, most slower decks will probably need to start building faster. I see classes converting to more mid-game brawl fests. No one really knows for sure at this point, we will just have to see what the masses migrate to now >.>

They just made it worse by printing several Deathrattle minions and nerfing Flare so Hunters can play with other cards against weaker match ups and not have to meta game against themselves.

On the other hand, those deathrattle cards are midgame, which sort of hurts the early rush mindset. Meanwhile, all of the classes have been given more ways of dealing with said early game and/or healing back up.
And a heavy hunter meta will mean Mystics, which don't work quite so well for hunter (she's not a mech or deathrattle or beast) but does well against their creatures while completely messing up their secrets.
We also have a stronger priest which is already deadly to hunter.
We'll have to see, I think Mechanical Yeti is a real consideration for mid-range Hunters, so the Deathrattle threshold is stronger now than what it was at the very least and I think Deathrattle synergy is much more worrysome than anti-Deathrattle "SB" cards.
I agree Priest got stronger, but I don't know if Priest got stronger relative to the Hunter match up or just to the rest of the meta, as we'll see 1 Lightbomb and Vol'jin in all Priest decks for certain and maybe more Smites? Also depends on whether or not Shrinkmeister sees play in aggro-Priest, but we'll have to wait and see how much ground Priest gained (I imagine it's a lot).
Also you have to remember that Rogue was removed from the game and Zoo was nerfed, which are really good things for Hunter.
Face hunter isn't a deck, its a playstyle, so you will never see the end of it nor will it be solved. However, they will no longer see the amount of easy wins they use to, dependent on how intolerable the meta becomes.

Notice what you said though: midrange. MIDRANGE hunter will be stronger. CONTROL hunter will be stronger. It's aggro hunter that's weaker and won't get anything gained from this situation.
Now if you wanted hunter t ostop going full aggro craziness and to the face, GvG will be great. If you wanted hunter to be destroyed completely, eliminated from the game effectively then you'll never be happy because that was never the plan.
Aggro hunter isn't stronger with GvG and has more issues to deal with. If the meta tries to stay aggro hunter then they'll get slammed hard. HUNTER itself will be fine. They will mech up more and, thus, go slower and more board focused. They'll try to be a full control deck and it might work.
Hunter as we see it now won't be. Hunter, period, will still be. And that's NOT a bad thing.
What they have done about the hunter issue is to not allow people to just go face with their cards. Their are so many new cards that some people may have in their deck that could possibly change the game. I think the trades that hunter players might have to make now will easily reduce the win percentage of hunter.
Deathrattle Hunter is not going anywhere and it will adapt to the meta with new cards and strategies. Also, the other classes have great tools to counter this class, and it is going to be a little weaker and may become more midrangey. We will see how the meta shapes and if there is a lot of Deathrattle Hunter there are a lot of tech cards that are very good against them.
I am not certain I see the tools in this expansion to put an end to the hunter trend. What does everybody think?

I'm still getting relatively easy wins with facehunter, no problem for me.

Every deck is going to evolve.
New decks will become viable.
