Highlander paladin with an aggro build has been surprisingly good for me. So has a highlander Hunter I made with a dragon package. Hoping to try other decks but to be honest I don’t feel Galakrond shaman is that good... At least at rank 5.
Everyone thinks that quest gala shaman is unbeatable. Gala priest HARD COUNTERS that deck. Hysteria, plague and fully invoked Galakronds easily get rid of those two waves of 8/8
I feel like any control deck will just face roll quest Galakrond shaman. Quest shaman was good because of the insane amount of value generated. All that goes away with Galakrond and his garbage hero power by comparison. Suddenly your deck full of tiny battlecry minions is useless.
Why bother making a thread about first impressions when its really just a "muh galakrond shaman" thread?
Galakrond Shaman is a far buffed Quest Shaman. Quest Shaman was manageable. But Galakrond Shaman gives it far better early game through free 2/1 rush value. But gives it four 8/8s twice as a finisher.
I've no idea why you think Shamans suddenly got weaker with Galakrond, when literally all data proves you wrong.

1.) it wasn’t supposed to be about shaman, it got hijacked.
2.) people are auto conceding against shaman regularly which is inflating it’s win rate.
3.) it’s weaker with Galakrond because his hero power is trash compared to the quest. The board flood is nothing new, quest shaman could already do that with ease. Once you play Galakrond you’ve got the 2-4 8/8 which pretty much every class but druid can handle. If you managed to save shudder you’ve got 2 more 8/8 and that’s it. The rest of the deck is trash battlecry mionions that don’t function well without the shaman quest. If shamans dropped the Galakrond package and went with an overload package you’d really start to see something busted. People are just stuck on “OMG 4 8/8 ON TURN 10”
Galakrond Shaman just wins. Strong early game curve with insane pressure and great boardclear via access to the best waveclear cards in the game + infinite 2/1s with rush. + Strong turn 4 power spike through Mogu Mutate into 12/12.
And then Heart of Vir'naal gives good card draw via Novice engi. Along with Kronx gives very consistent drawing of win conditions.
And then finally Shudderwock gives a second burst on the win condition.
Not really any point in playing anything else. It has stronger early, mid and late game than any other deck. People want to seem quirky by saying they play with a great counter. But truth is that they just kinda beat a few rank 15 losers who play the deck inefficiently. And they feel like they did so much better than reality because the crappy rank 15 shaman had their legend cardback from season 1.
I had fun with Galakrond Reno Rogue for the first few hours. But Rogues don't have the early pressure/clear to deal with Mogu and Invokes, and don't have the lategame clear to deal with 8 8/8s with Rush.
Translation:::
“if shaman hits everything exactly the way it’s supposed to it’s unbeatable”
Guess it’s a good thing games don’t always play out optimally. That’s the weakness of this deck, if you don’t hit everything optimally you just flounder. That’s why regular quest shaman is better in my opinion. It’s incredibly flexible. Galakrond shaman in the quest deck is either linear or bust. Now midrange Galakrond shaman is probably much much better with the insane board control capabilities with the threats and I think that’s where Galakrond will ultimately end up.

Blizzard's internal data refutes you completely, and there aren't many cards in the game that can counter multiple waves of 4 8/8s. Which is why they're getting nerfed already.
Historically we've seen nerfs for the exact same board state. Molten Giant, Conjurer's Calling, Naga Sea Witch, etc.
But by all means.. Keep going off about how you're the smatest Hehstone playa evur by spamming Galakrond Shaman.
okay guys, I'm no moderator, but I've been on this site long enough to notice all the quotes in the comments means this thread could be getting toxic. I just want to remind everyone to direct their frustration at the game mechanics and not towards each other.
I understand there are many different opinions on several hot topics; just try to remember we're all here because we enjoy a good game of Hearthstone every once in a while and care about the future of the game.
Maybe its because I have only been playing Whizzbang and his less than refined decks, but Quest+Galakrond or just Galakrond Shaman seems super broken. They generate incredible tempo with their 2/1 with rush, seemingly being able to turn the table within a turn with just that 3/3 5 mana guy and his two 2/1s with rush. Usually that 5 mana gets evolved into a Boulderfist Ogre or something. You can never play more than 3 minions really because of one of my most hated cards (MCT). At the same time thanks to all the lackeys they manage to produce a lot of value too. Not to mention the 5 mana for 2x 5/6 with taunt (remember when 4 mana 7/7 seemed broken?), 7 mana 2x 8/8 with rush and a 5/2 weapon etc. I just hate playing against this deck... I can't wait for some nerfs, because they seem desperately needed.

We've had many bad expansions but this one beats them all.
