Can anyone really tell me that the hearthstone devs are still "greedy"? Archmage Vargoth was free. Snip Snap was free. All five versions of Galakrond are free for every player. These cards are not Martin the Fox like back in the day. They are giving genuinely meta relevant legendary cards away. it would be so simple to create these highly desirable cards and make people pay or grind to have a chance to acquire them, like many other companies do. what else do you want from these guys
"RNG- this is obviously a huge part of HS and although RNG makes for some incredibly entertaining scenarios & highlights I feel that those moments are outnumbered by the amount of times an inferior player prevails simply due to RNG. Yes, I understand you can't escape RNG in a card game, but I think there's very good RNG design that involves high skill decision making (trading with Dr. 7 boom-bots) and poor RNG design (Yogg pre-patch) that allows a player to play sub-optimally and still have a *feasible* chance at victory."
You can always rely on saLty Thread for stuff like that dude...
Probably a successful Twitch channel. lel.. Jokes aside, I do agree with @Aegis24
DON'T get me wrong.. I am a dolphin player who has been spending some money in Hearthstone because I liked the Medivh Mage skin.. Anyway, being somewhat a F2P player, Hearthstone has made it okayish to play totally free and still reach a high rank in the game. Just focus on certain classes since F2P players are on a strict dust and gold budget.. enjoy the game and chill.
p.s. WE ACTUALLY HAVE FREE ADVENTURES TO ENJOY!! AND BATTLEGROUNDS IS TOTALLY FREE (except some extra perks other players get to enjoy for pre-ordering DoD)

Play Aggro. Stick with Aggro. Go Face.No where else. Win by Turn 5. Control Decks are garbage.
Don't anyone have dust saved up to create what they want? It is like people forget dust exsist. I have 20k dust saved up through multiple expansions - only creating 2-3 legendaries and other cards I need.
give all cards free for everybody, and 1million dust so we can dust all the free card collection and get the same card again, because fuck you blizzard, you have to give us dust.
and give us free gold too. but not that stupid game gold, i mean free real gold, in the real life.
and real dragons too, fuck you greedy blizzard and your digital dragons.

It seems like most people just throw away dust at stupid shit like awful legendary minions that they think they can ''make it work somehow'' or ''are fun in this build''

The developers? No, I don't think they're particularly greedy. Blizzard is.
Like, you get that the freebies are part of the well established business strategy right? If your goal is to convert F2Ps into dolphins and dolphins into whales, then you can't give them nothing. Instead you give a taste of power, enough to let them know what they can buy, and then you stop. That's why you tend to get one legendary card per expansion, usually one like Galakrond or the Death Knights, that shows off the powerful new features of expansions.

If this is their covert business model or strategy which I could see as being a fairly successful one what’s the other option for Blizzard? If nobody was P2P or mostly F2P but spending a little then none of us would have any game to play. They have to pay employees like the devs, marketing, concept designs, artists, programmers, server costs, etc etc especially since compared to a lot of games they actually release new content or shake things up like Doom in the Tomb or nerf or buff cards fairly often.
Nobody that works to do any of this does it for some altruistic reasons. They work for the same reason we all do which is to get paid and thus Blizzard has to make a profit. They’re not UNICEF

The alternative is that the developers, artists, programmers, and other workers seize the servers, computers, and other methods of producing the game. Then they strip the wealth away from the executives who have been profiting off their work, and cut out the shareholders. Then, if they want, they make the game, and actually be paid what they are worth, instead of the fractions they are paid now. And without the need to appease shareholders or pay excessive executive salaries, they can cut out the exploitative game mechanics that only exist to satisfy to profit motive.
Or they could give out a few more packs or something, but I prefer the other option 😊
RNG- this is obviously a huge part of HS and although RNG makes for some incredibly entertaining scenarios & highlights I feel that those moments are outnumbered by the amount of times an inferior player prevails simply due to RNG. Yes, I understand you can't escape RNG in a card game, but I think there's very good RNG design that involves high skill decision making (trading with Dr. 7 boom-bots) and poor RNG design (Yogg pre-patch) that allows a player to play sub-optimally and still have a *feasible* chance at victory
although having a variety of heroes allows for good play variety- there's not much room for variety within each class. For example, maybe we get a great control card for a Hunter that seems like a great card but doesn't fit well because the class is primarily used for 1 or 2 play styles. This makes those cool cards a bit obsolete.
The Bad:
despite some random acts of generosity in the form of free stuff- Blizzard is greedy af about their content. As a business they have every right to do things how they want, I just think it's a sad truth that Blizzard doesn't care too much about the content & gaming community so long as they are bringing in good return on their product$.
lack of mid-range meta- how many TOP tier mid range decks have existed in HS competitive play? Comparatively low to aggro and control decks in my opinion. I think mid-range/tempo decks are key to keeping control/aggro in check but since you often see "threat removals" cost less than threats themselves, this makes it hard (not impossible) to play tempo decks and have success doing so.
I'm just going to address the negative portion here.
RNG: That's literally the point of it. It's meant to be a game that casuals can win even if they make mistakes. Blizzard has made that very clear and they have never tried to hide it.
Playstyles: That's how all card games work? Have you never played a card game before? 90% of decks are basically staples with 10 or 15 different cards splashed in. There's no way to balance 5 or 6 playstyles per class when there are already 9 classes to balance. Go look at Magic, where there are 5; or Yugioh, where they support anywhere between 0 and 3 usable archetypes per new pack.
Greed: How exactly are they greedy? You can play the entire game and have 2-3 meta decks at any given time completely F2P. You have to pay for some cosmetics, which is reasonable; and it's $2 a pack, which is also reasonable.
Lack of midrange: That's an inherent limitation of the medium. You either have a lot of shit that kills fast, or you can survive anything and go forever. What is your definition of midrange? A deck that wins on turn 12?
Besides, if you want midrange, Dragon Paladin is midrange, regular Quest Druid (non Malygos) was midrange, Highlander Hunter is midrange, even Quest Shaman is basically a midrange deck.
I think the model is mostly fine, the only issues I have currently are dust values and pity timers. They removed an adventure to add a full extra set, and while that gives more options, it's undeniable every deck's cost went much higher than they usually were thanks to the extra influx of legs and epics.
Max pity timer being 40 is too high, 30 would a better and less frustrating number, and disenchant 4 to craft 1 model also could also see a small change, like 500 for DE'ing a leg and 1500 to craft one.
All I do is play 3-5 games every morning before work... I start saving gold a month before each expansion, and I just opened 46 packs at expansion opening... Just playing these games, I am almost always keep the top playable decks, and a couple meme decks each expansion. Did I mention I havent bought a pack in about 2 years? If you cant grind 30 mins day, and keep up without paying, you're doing it wrong. Sure, people that pay get ALL of the cards. That's how it should be. They keep the game afloat after all.
I feel like most people that complain, don't have jobs, and live with their parents. No one in the real world could possibly have that form of sad entitlement.

this game is free.
just play arena :)
Except it's not. It's F2P. One is a full experience with no costs whatsoever while the other is a greatly profitable business model.

What I find bad problematic with hs lately is that:
- overly strong hate cards like armor destruction and stealing weapons
- bringing back sylvanas and nzoth (even though its for a limited time only)
- rehashing old mechanics, we have invoke yes but its in a cthun like card which i personally dont like.

Not even 1 million expansions will fix it.
This game is braindead.
The Bad. Shaman. Totally Broken.
