After taking a 1/2 months break from the game due to:me slightly losing interest ,smash ultimate's existance and the university i came back a couple of weeks ago,saw the new cards and followed the reveals liking (or at least not disliking) basically all of them,I was really hyped, and then.....they had to print a card that destroyes armor, not even a set amount...all of it
As Someone that loves grindy, value games CW (well...odd warrior, i play wild since frost lich jaina and elemental shaman got moved) Is a favorite of mine and the card Is Just a huge middle finger to anything i stand for
Now I'll be honest and say that i do get that some people don't enjoy this kind of games and maybe the mechanic in general BUT:
Firstly there are way less toxic ways to deal with It than Just invalidating an entire playstyle because you managed to draw a 5 mana 5/5 (Minions/spells that deal more damage to a Hero with armor are an idea,or even destroying half of it would have been...fine,not good but at least not stupid)
Secondly (more of a personal rant/saltyness) if you are going to do this AT THE VERY LEAST give us an odd card to (at least semi consistently) mess with combo/otk/infinite/mill decks that are way more toxic to deal with
At the end of the day I'm probably still going to play because I still enjoy the game (when my opponent isnt playing One of the aforementioned decks at least) and other decks but my Mood went from "woooooo new expantion with actually fun and strong cards" to "welp,i Guess i still have my Reno valuewock as a fun and pretty good deck"
On the contrary, I think this card is very healthy for the game, just like many tech cards. Even if I enjoy control mirror more than anything else, I think you overestimated this card. No one would want to play a 5 mana 5/5 "do nothing in 80% matchups". But, in case warrior/druid gets too strong, it allows smart players to tech one, or maybe two, in their deck, and be able to go through a wall of armor, which is otherwise painful and boring.
However, I don't think this will ever see play.
Though, I agree I'd love to see more disruption tools in the future.

Or now you just can't stack armor like a retard every turn ? you can have 15-20 armor up and save cards to put more after the tech card is played ?
Yeah, platebreaker definitely screws over wild far more than standard. However, at the end of the day, it's a very niche tech card that likely won't see much play. The only way this slots into a deck it's when armor classes become problematic. Otherwise, nobody wants to play a generic 5/5. The existence of this card simply prevents warrior (and sometimes druid) from running rampant with stupid amounts of armor because the second they do, they'll start running into this card.
I get where you're coming from but ultimately, I don't think it'll be a problem.
When I saw the card I thought damn those developers went crazy cause that card destroys warrior and some druid decks.
Then I realised that the card wasn't really that strong since it is only relevent in those specific matchups. It will likely see play if something like control warrior dominate the new meta, but I doubt it.
Would you really tech in that card over something stronger against most matchups? I doubt it.
I wouldn't worry too much about it unless ofc. ,as I said, Control warrior becomes dominant.
1. This kind of card needs to exist. You may have fun amassing 100+ armor, but do you think anyone else does?
2. There is still a 99% chance you can run your armor mountain warrior as long as it isn't a meta defining deck. Do you think most people are going to sacrifice 1-2 of their precious card slots in the hopes that they might have a better chance again warrior/druid some of the time?
3. Tech cards are literally the healthiest cards printable. They are a way to balance the scales without the need of patch intervention. You really think something like this is toxic to the game? Is it more toxic than the potential for the top tier deck being million armor warrior and you seeing nothing but that without counterplay?
Peoples reactions to platebreaker are hilarious. You're so rarely going to ever see it you'll forget it even exists. It might be 1/20-30 games where your precious 100000 armor gets smashed away. Crabs, secret destruction, old big game hunter have existed forever and usually tipped the scales enough if it was pulled off. That's what tech cards are. Payoff cards with the drawback of being severely underwhelming if not pulled off. And don't say "it's still a 5/5 for 5. If you think a 5/5 for 5 is good in this day in age, you're crazy.
Edit: 8/8 dragon rush boi is far more "hype killing" and even that is healthy for the game. TECH. CARDS. ARE. HEALTHY.

L2P KID.
Sure man, I'll be sure to save up my Hero powers and play them all together the turn after i Lost my armor, that sure Is the way this game works (in case you didn't know 90% of a wariorr's armor in a game comes from the Hero Power)
On the contrary, I think this card is very healthy for the game, just like many tech cards. Even if I enjoy control mirror more than anything else, I think you overestimated this card. this card won't see play, it's simply way too niche. ever heard of Eater of Secrets. yeah, that turned out fantastic, it was all over the place... not
That's probably true but what bothers me the most (aside from the fact that there WILL be some idiot guy Who Will play It) Is the concept ,it'sa single card made to completely invalidate an archetype (that isn't Jade druid) and has NO purpose whatsoever in any other case
it is a tech card, and while it is pretty good, it isnt a MUST RUN card, and i doubt many people will even make space for it unless armor becomes such a huge part of the meta that it is deemed auto include.

Ok so
1) true, but their purpose Is to make the game more even if you are in a losing matchup, not auto winning It (rat Is the best example, though i don't Like that it's Just a cointoss you have some degree of control on it's effectivness while this One Is a "draw card-->thei got big grey numbers-->me play-->me win)
2) still true, but what bothers me Is the concept of a card that Just brainlessly nullifies an archetype that isn't even really problematic (people that can't deal with CW or odd warrior as control or midrange decks really Need to go play competitive tic tac tor because they won't get anywhere here)
3) you are again missing the point where I said "there are less toxic ways to deal with this" and i made an example of "more damage vs armor" or "half their armor" these are still strong options that aren't Just an F.U to the archetype with no effort or thought put into making and using them
To further my point all the tech cards you listed don't auto win you the game Just because you drew them and,as such, are actually well made
Now you'll probably not Like what I'm about to say but the shaman galakrond Is One of my favourite cards they printed this expantion as strong boardswings that CAN be be dealt with in decks that DON'T go infinite are Always healthy for the game (unless brought to the Extreme....oh hi big Priest,I didn't see you there)
If u play standard dont worry its a tech card that wont see play. If u play wild im sure ppl will use it in the first week just to try it out but will eventually be tossed. It will only be relevant if odd warrior becomes super relevant
I like control. I don’t like obnoxious 40 minute games where my opponent just loads up on removal and armor gain. Now control decks need an actual win condition and I’m totally fine with that. You’ll probably never see the card but the fact it exists is good for the game

i love this card. 5 mana deal 2500 damage to a druid.
Agreed. Everyone will play Big Ol' Whelp instead.

It could be nice for 5 mana stats like 4/4 for such battlecry, no1 would take it.
5 for 5/5 might take a spot, and be a problem.
