The job thing, that "i work and i don't have time to play" If you have a Job you can afford 50$ every 4 months, i do and i even pay it during those 4 months, like 12$ a month. In a game you really like and enjoy i don't think it's a great cost. Games like Duel Links are so much expansive to do anything, so yeah i aggre to this guy(not about comparing to MTG, but the cost not being so high)
Exactly right. Like I realize it costs money to keep up, but as you said if you are working and cannot afford the cheaper pre order bundle when an expansion comes out, you need to just move on to a different game. I would say many gamers spend $50-$60 every 3-4 months or so (if not more frequently) on a new video game. And that's what expansions mean to card games, essentially a new game in that the entire meta shifts and the decks being played change.
And that is all secondary to the fact that you technically can play this game entirely for free if you put the time in. Especially if you're decent at arena.
It's worth noting that 50-60 bucks doesn't get you the full game. It gets you a portion of the game, randomly selected, via 50-60 loot boxes. You can be cool with that, but let's not pretend that it's of comparable value to a game where you pay once and get the whole experience. It's a Skinner box, and we're rats.
Let's not pretend that a card game can be compared to any non card game. Card packs are loot boxes in a sense, but everyone knows that. Card games always have been and always will be. If that's not your thing, don't play them.
Yep, many a poker player has lost because he couldn't find that rare ace card to add to his deck. I get that you meant trading card games, but the rarity and loot boxing is and has always been a marketing scheme, not an inherent or necessary quality of the games themselves. You could easily have Hearthstone or MTG without the exploitative value extraction.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still here, having spent 110 dollars. I'm just honest enough to admit that I'm a sucker, and the games could be structured in a way that is more beneficial to the players, it would just mean that Blizzard can't build as many forts out of our money.
I’ll never understand these complaints about the cost of this game. If you want you can easily go F2P. Just dicking around and missing like a month of missions, I’m gonna have 5k gold by the time the expansion hits. If you do your missions every day you can at the very least 6k gold and that’s assuming all missions are only 50 gold. In reality it’s likely more like 7k. This isn’t even counting wins. Every 3 wins is another 10 gold. If you just win 9 games a day that’s another 3600 gold in between expansions. 11-13k gold between expansions is totally doable and you can make a lot with 110-130 packs and that’s not even counting all the free packs they straight give to you plus the free legendaries you receive. If you hit rank 5 every month you get enough dust for another free legendary. People complaining about cost are just idiots, that’s the only logical conclusion I can come up with. They’ve done a lot to make this game F2P friendly, including making legendaries that give you free decks to play. The only problem here is the consumer at this point.
i said this probably a hundred times that they really should think about releasing cards more regularly
because the span of like 3 months without anything new happening is really terrible and in recent times everything got figured out like a month in at the most. i'd even be happy if the 'normal' expansion has only like a 100-ish cards and 2 months later a 'mini' expansion comes out with like 50-ish cards. they're pretty close with this one, happy about that :)
They probably have like 50 cards ready to add and will choose the best ones based on the decks lol. They may have an invoke card that will only be available if galakrond isnt OP. Hoping for some better invoke cards for neutral though.
Since it’s named after galakrond, I really hope there will be new invoke cards. The options are pretty limited and decks are even including devoted maniac, which is a pretty terrible card, just to upgrade galakrond.
Very bad news for players like me, that want to play Standard, but have no interest in the solo adventures. I either have to craft the strong new cards (which could cost a fortune in dust, depending on how many there are), or I'm forced to buy and play-through the adventure.
Ofc you have to earn your card, you cant expect to pop in a martial art dojo and earn your blackbelt in 2 weeks. Lolz.
You can have every card in this game without spending a dime. I did it, and many thousands f2p players did it in the past 5 years
And btw you can buy the advanture using in game gold. 700g was the price each wing in the past
Legendary Game of Heroes is a card collection game. Go play there for a month. Hearthstone mild in comparison. What may be spent on one expansion in hearthstone is a once or twice a week wallet wanking there for hundreds
It's needed at this point. We all know that the wait between expansions is too much to keep the game fresh. I think that's a pretty universal position for everyone so meta shake-ups are very welcome.
Of course, that has to be balanced with if they're expecting to get more money out of the player base. They've been pretty good with that so far with the Wild cards and buffs not coming with any cost attached.
If they're attached to an adventure then they need to make sure that they don't phone it in.
Everyone can "buy" Adventures/Wings with gold, so it's not P2W.. Ofc it requires to actually complete the Adventure to be even able to get/craft the cards, so that part might be tricky to F2P persons with limited card collection..
Usually Adventure cards have been powerfull, but how about with expansion with this high powerlevel it self? We will see and Im curios and exited at some level of course, like with all the Solo Adventures.
I think that they decided if they make an expansion with most amount of cards they have to go big. But yeah I think that Blizz got fed up with the “20$ for 200 dust LUL” and now every expansion will be like this
Sweet. More cards the better.
Not sure I could handle yet another slightly different dungeon run.

Not good to see hearthstone taking the route of artifact.
they used to do this, its not like its new to release an adventure to unlock cards.
"just don't be poor" nice response, humanity stupidity at maximum
Highlander decks love massive card pools,

Just craft the cards which are important from the 50 cards released.
this new strategy will decimate casual players, 3 exp and 3 adventures is just too much! and this idiots think its fair

Reality: One adventure, in the last set of the year, has 35 new cards in it and there is 0 confirmation that other pve content will follow this trend.
Idiots:
since they threw the "no new hero cards" out the window after just 2 expansions, i think it would be fair for the LoE classes to get a hero card too.
i am at 12k gold atm... save 2k for the adventure, and an additional 2k for a 3 month arena so i can buy 80 packs... thats more then enough for me...
To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffer!
