I like the game mode a lot. I'm started committing less early and digging for lightfang enforcer when I can afford to, and a successful multi-tribe run definitely, in my experience, yields the best boards that easily beats any single tribe board. Getting +2/+2 or +4/+4 for many turns creates monsters.
Only at 5000 though, not sure if it becomes too greedy at the higher ranks.
Im at 5594 and it gets harder and harder to get Lightfang as more people try to go for it - atleast that is what I have seen today. Atleast I can still get Bran most times, which can also create multi tribe monsters, but at a higher risk of not getting the right battlecries.

Lightfang is really good when you get it earlier, I really like the multi tribe strategy too, but if I don’t manage to get Lightfang early I always go for bran, he is quite strong if you have multiple tribes
There is a whole lot more to this mode than people are giving it credit for. This is a lot more about reads and plays, a lot like poker or drafting in MTG. If you start tracking what your opponents are doing you can play to win, or play for top 4. Forcing synergies can often lose you the midgame which can get you blown out. Taking Zapp at the right time, knowing when to sell Lightfang, holding Toxfin... There are a lot of ways you can manipulate the game more than TAKE JUNKBOT, WIN GAME.

If you find you're in a slump and having trouble recruiting the cards you "need," remember that there are many different wining strats. It's often better to go with the flow than to try to force it.
Also, the meta goes in cycles just like the Standard ladder meta. A streamer releases a video with an interesting or powerful build, and suddenly everyone is trying to recruit for that build. If you go against the grain, you might have much better luck finding strong synergies with a tribe that's not flavor of the day.

LOL. Battlegrounds is mindless minimal strategy garbage mode. There are like 2 or 3 (hmmm should I be mech or beast this time??) strategies you can win with, and nearly all of the decision making is obvious. I'm already bored with it and doubt I will play it very much anymore. I'm glad it's sparking interest in HS (because God knows it needs it) but once the novelty of this mode wears off, this isn't going to be a mode that stands the test of time, IMO.
Hi there tides, sorry to hear you're tired of battlegrounds. At least, I'm assuming you are tides, because nobody else is anywhere close to 8.1k MMR so I don't think anyone else could possibly claim that "nearly all of the decision making is obvious". You don't have to like the game mode, but don't claim you understand it if you don't like it/aren't top level in it. The Dunning-Kruger effect is a funny thing, it's really easy to think you basically understand something when you are only just starting to learn the fundamentals, but once you actually start getting good you realize how many nuances you were missing before and how much there still is to learn.
I've loved battlegrounds, and my experience in climbing is that I keep learning more about how to play well. I've hit a couple of walls where my previous strategies have just stopped working against better opponents, and I've had to re-evaluate how I think about cards and which cards I'm willing to pick up in order to keep climbing. The biggest trend is that the game gets much more aggressive as you go up in rank, so you have to stop aiming for the broken end-game comps and start just picking up whatever looks decent in front of you, then find a way to turn that into a winning strategy.
I also feel addicted to the game and need willpower to fight the urge to play. It's psychological through its shopping choices and the chances of finding a triple that'll grant you a better reward/bonus. It's kind of like gambling- betting on the next game on getting rolls in your favor. It's also faster paced vs Standard mode and have higher "APM" which attracts me. Nonetheless, all popular games probably follow a similar principle to get you addicted which , in turn, will ruin your chances of future offspring and career progression.

Favorite Cards: 1. Lord Jaraxxus | 2. Malygos| 3. Edwin VanCleef | 4. Zephrys the Great| 5. Deathwing
Hmm I come in top 4 about 80% of the time and rarely use junkbot. Amalgams though.... I get 1st or second and 50%

All in all, I am really enjoying it.
