To all the offended about freedom of speech issues out there Syria says hi. Well the Syria that was 2 years ago now it's just rumble after an earthquake. Also Egypt a few years back or Yugoslavia a few more. Youngsters need to learn more history. Crimea anyone? And alooot more.
I'm not going to teach history here but the Hong Kong issue is a minor thing compared to the examples i gave earlier and other ones that happened in the last 20 years.
There is a joke about a dude that is angry about nazism in 2019 and a friend tells him that it happened over 80 years ago but the dude answers that he just found out.
The world we live in is a shitty place to live. And will become even shittier. So buckle up. You're in for the ride of your life.
Books gave smart people a way to speak. Facebook gave stupid people a way to speak.
With the exception of the places suffering with the horrors of Socialism and Islam the modern people enjoy a level of peace and prosperity never attained in human history before.
How many of you did know that Hong Kong exists before that drama? Just curious :-D
I know you're looking for trouble, my curious friend, but I will answer your question despite that. ;)
Hong Kong has always been a very popular place. Anyone can find lots of references to it in video games and movies, and guess what??? This is a forum full of gamers and many of them are movie fans. I, for instance, used to be a fan of Jean Claude Van Damme when I was a kid and loved to play Street Fighter games, so I always had Hong Kong somewhat present in my mind. I never needed a book to remind me about it and if someone here really wasn't aware of it's existance till now, well, he or she definitely lives under a rock... -.-
The world we live in is a shitty place to live. And will become even shittier. So buckle up. You're in for the ride of your life.
I'm pretty sure it was much worse in the past. Only people who never read a book in their entire lives or have very short term memory believe the opposite... ;) ;) ;)

Exactly my boy! We live in the best era that humanity has ever achieved. We haven't been happier, healthier and we never had such freedoms and rights (at least in the western world). In fact if we explained our lifestyles to a commoner 200 years ago, he would be sure that such society is an utopia.
Sure, our world is far from perfect, but it has improved immensely. Open a history book children jeez... And after that, look the recent scientific achievements! The future doesn't look grim at all.In fact it looks awesome!

Yeah. I'm tired to hear the doomsayers parroting the same thing all the time. The world is not collapsing, for god sake. Just because their lives are going from bad to worse, doesn't mean the rest of the world shares the same fate.
Being a well informed person costs almost nothing nowadays, people... -.-
How many of you did know that Hong Kong exists before that drama? Just curious :-D
Not only was I aware of its existence, but I predicted in 1997 that this exact type of conflict would arise after Britain ceded control of Hong Kong back to China. It was obvious, really, even though it took a little longer than I expected.

HearthStone players are the intellectual elite of the internet, why you assume we don't will know about that?
Talk about quantum physics and advanced math and maybe our community will have a little trouble keeping up.
:P
Sigh... I recommend you to not understimate the community, my friend. In fact, I recommend you to never understimate a single person in your life, for your own sake...
How many of you did know that Hong Kong exists before that drama? Just curious :-D
Of course I knew. I watched the movie King Kong, and the sequel, Son of Kong, which introduced little Hong. We gotta free that baby!
Keep laughing all you want, dude, that's not gonna change the fact that good movies and video games usually teach people more about life and history than many books out there.
1- Oh yes we all love our own little bubble! Where everything is perfect and only good news gets in.
2- I live a good life. Yes. the future is wonderful, we all live in the tech revolution, everything is going to get better.
3- The world is heaven. What else? It's paradise on earth?
4- You have no clue of what's going on outside your own little bubble then.
5- Keep dreaming!
1- I live in Brazil and the last thing here is something close to "everything is perfect and only good news gets in.".
2- The replies was motivated because posts saying everything is shit, just put a more accurate perspective.
3- No, but it was a lot worse in the past, much, much worse.
4- Why so many people assume we are dumb people don't aware of the reality of the world? We just don't agree with the common wrong statement of everything is shit this days, assuming the things are good before, the history told an opposite direction.
5- Stop have nightmares awake, we don't live in an utopia but have a lot of good things, mid class people today have a better quality life than emperors and kings in the past.
Yup. I give up. Sorry but I can't compare myself to peasants from 100 years ago that died to a common cold to encourage myself that the world is beautiful now.
You're the optimistic guy. Ok great. You see that with 10 dollars from today you could have bought a house 100 years ago. I see that a guy above you said that he learns more from movies and games than from books. Talk about qed.
Btw that article is cute but in all it's cuteness forgets to mention that Rokefeller's fortune from those days would equal in todays money to a few trilion dollars. He would be the richest man alive by far today. But okay I get it. A dude with 5k dollars per month today is richer than the richest man that lived 100 years ago. Yay!!! We done good. But while he may be richer he can't own a palace, a few cars, a few companies, etc.
I was only saying that except USA and Eu and a handful of countries like Japan, Australia, etc. the rest of the world is in a pretty shitty spot. Hunger, lack of water, lack of medical care, slavery, villages and whole cities without electricity or running water and many more issues that guess what? Are the same issues from 100 years ago.
So while you, me, the dude from earlier that educates himself from movies and games, and like 40% of the population is in the 21st century, in our own bubble, the other 60% still lives in the 20th century.
I said that I give up. You see the good, I see the good too, but I also see the bad and for me the bad is more important. If 7 billion people today live a better life than Rockefeller did but 1 dude dies from hunger somewhere the world is not right.
You're the optimist. I'm the pessimist. We can't convince each other. So...have a good life. So will I btw.
LOL
XD XD XD
Now seriously, I really can't wait for Blizzcon. I wonder if Blizzard will screw up things even more during the event... XD

@Shadowrisen I wanted to say that. Well spoken.

I know, I am old enough to remember that only guy stands against the tank.
And, of course, see that cursed Berlin Wall be smashed into pieces.
it is absurd to see these people ask for political help in a gaming chat. They must be so desperate.
Think about it. They shouldn't ask in chat.
