1. Hs used to have 30-40K viewers on twitch, it's now under 10k. 2. Hong Kong incident speaks for itself. 3. The meta's were extremely boring for the last 3-4 years. 4. Most of the streamers who used to play hs are now mtga, the competition is doing it better.
This means a few things can happen.
5. Hs will be cast away in the realm of forgotten games 6. Hs will have a major patch wich will change the core of the game (I personally believe 9 classes are too many because it is impossible to balance all 9 classes at the same time) 7. Hs 2.0 will come out, wich will show that the developers have learned from previous mistakes.

How long a virtual card game last in general? Maybe HS already reach the limit of his life span, maybe not.
Good question.. Most digital card games don't last long. I believe that the sole reason for this is because it lacks innovation. There is this japanese card game called Alteil, it was very popular in japan but it closed it servers i think 4 years ago, before that they were I think around 10 years online, now they remade the game but with the same mechanics..
Maybe hearthstone will follow the same fate?

The major problem with this game... Is how you can't enjoy the full experience as a new player anymore. At the beginning, there aren't too many cards available. Think about the process of creating a new account and crafting all the cards you would need to have to go pro... The process is just way too long. There is too little payoff in the process.
Let's compare it to League for ex.: 1. You don't have to pay to enjoy the full experience. 2. There are more payoff from playing a lot. 3. The popularity of tournaments keeps the game alive - there are just more hype around it based on how they structure it.
There is just a lot more keeping League alive. Meanwhile, I believe HS developers ended up choosing the path of short term money - "Let's make a few new expansions and make people buy some cards until the game hype runs out". I don't know in who's hands the future of HS lays in, and in what way they will develop the game at this point... But something definitely wasn't all the way thought through, unless this was the end result they actually wanted to achieve and unless I'm right.
On another note: At one point, I think they listened too much on the player base, regarding the factor of RNG, because it will forever be a part of HS.
Instead of adding versatility to the game, no new classes came out. They began a freaking single player journey and kept on going towards that direction......... It's like when CS made a Fortnite mode... What are you thinking??
End note: A lot of the time, gaming companies forget about long term and focus on making short term money. Perhaps though, a gaming company such as Blizzard, might focus more on having a game endure for a certain amount of time to maximize how much the company makes to then develop additional games... Expansions...
I don't know man. It's looking grim for HS. We'll see what's going to happen in the end. We'll see.
1. Because everyone is watching WoW Classic now. I don't think Blizzard is too upset about that.
2. And the sad truth is that the outrage culture has a very short memory. The long-term effect won't be as drastic as you seem to think.
3. You have considered the game boring for the majority of its existence? The logical conclusion is that you don't speak for most players.
4. Simply a false statement. Some have fully switched, and some are streaming both. But you cannot say that "most" have quit HS.
5. Hearthstone will be able to turn a decent profit for several more years at the very least.
6. Devs have already hinted at sweeping changes, possibly next spring. I don't expect classes getting cut, but major overhauls seem likely.
7. I don't think a Hearthstone 2.0 would do much to reinvigorate the franchise. More likely it would piss off the people who have spent a lot of money on their HS 1.0 collections. Retooling the systems is a much safer bet (and was in the works long before the Blitzchung incident.)
Hey, Hey. A Hearthstone is dying thread. I haven't seen one of these in a while....it's been at least a day or two /s
I split my card playing time between HS (~60%) and MtGA (~40%). I hope Arena isn't dying as well. That would suck if I invested in TWO dying card games. Thankfully it's not three. I didn't spend any money on Artifact :p
For all the people emotionally unable to a post a constructive message please ignore this thread. The rest who wants to speculate with us on the future of hearthstone, please stay with us!

Well im pretty sure this time its done for good .. I feel like the Hk incident was a shot to the head by Blizz and now Legends of runeterra is coming to put the final nail to the coffin. Its pretty sad actually that is going to die but it had it coming.. Blizz didnt really give a shit about HS since it was making money, its the same game since beta .. Its a miracle that it lasted that long.

Farewell my friend.
That makes no sense, people who boycotted Blizzard for HK are NOT going to support Riot which is 100% owned by a Chinese business (Tencent).
The reason LoR might take over HS is because of their "better" card acquisition model, not for some random political outrage. It is good that we are getting some competition is the card game market after like 6 years, and many failed attempts.
HS is fun game...personally i rly enjoing my time spending on it (since 2016)
for that time i can say that the main problem of the game is a rly rly boring metta seasons (thats why we losing players) and rly rly "hard-start" that the game can offer to the new players. (thats why we dont have players) .....also the great unbalance between F2P and P2W players
but of course this is my personal opinion

The game has dying since Beta according to the Forum pundits.
Nothing to see here.

Hearthstone can't die. It is already dead. Don't remember?
ARTIFACT!!! Killed it.
I know like you all predicted I and all of you and everyone is playing that sweet sweet ARTIFACT!!!!
Praise Gabon
That's how you know, this is a troll post. If you didn't have any fun in last 4 years then the fuck you are doing with this game anymore ?
World of Warcraft has been dying for like 10 years as well. ITs taking too long
Seriously, is this a joke or what? :/ I hope there is a good justification for such a statement...
