While I personally dont agree with what is going on in HK, it is just not a good idea to have political topics in sport events or tournaments. Where do you draw the line, what do you consider "a good cause to stand up for"? What about Athletes who support the far right or make a stand for pro-life. this is a slippery slope and the judgement of what is right should not be done by a gaming company.
Therefore, I would absolutely agree with Blizzards actions here. Keep politics and sports separated. Pretty normal stuff. You are suspended as a soccer player as well for political gestures.

As a sports player, you are not punished for criticizing democratically led nations like America. Only powerful dictatorships. You see athletes bitching about Trump, Boris Johnson and government policy all the time and it doesn't matter because their titanic sponsors don't care.

The devil here is the Chinese authoritarian government. If Blizzard allowed the kid to stay on, they would of been banned from the Chinese market by the government so Blizzard would be losing millions from their customers.
Blizzard is a business so you can't blame them for this decision. Different people have different morals.

Blizzard fucked up big time, it all over the internet. Biggest news on every subreddit related to Blizzard, HS, OW, HOTS etc. even big news networks like CNN and BBC have covered this. I don't think Blizzard can sweep this under the rug easily anymore.

Reminder that the art changes to Jaina, Succubus, Secret Keeper, were requested by the Chinese State, and despite Blizzard knowing the changes would cause some amount of blowback with their western market, they went ahead with the requested changes.

No we can blame blizzard for any decision they make, they might have no moral values but I have them.
We are not arguing here what blizzard did was legal or illegal you see for me what blizzard did was immoral and I am going to fkn disrepute them in every platform I attend.

Why aren't you blaming the Chinese government?. You must be brainwashed to think it's blizzards fault.
People acting like blizzard are taking sides and opposing people. Twitch and YouTube are very careful about what is considered hate speech. Obviously there is no place for that kind of stuff if you plan to stay monetized on those platforms. Blizz is just following the rules to protect their interest on these platforms. I know tons of content on YouTube you can get political your fix from.
Well, the guy did the right thing at a wrong place.
The consequences were clearly stated in the tournament rules, ban + removal of prize money earned. He knew the consequences, yet he chose to go ahead with his actions. If Blizzard chose to close one eye, others will take this as a precedent case and makes all sorts of political/ racist comments. Blizzard chose to follow the tournament rules and gave him the exact consequences stated, yet it results in an uproar. Either way it is a lose situation for Blizzard.
I'll say it again, they are a business. They won't lose millions of profits from the Chinese market because of some kid showing support for Hong Kong. Blizzard are following the rules of the Chinese government.
