See the minds seperate. Just like in real iive it's polarized. Just like in American politics it's them against us. Blizzard has a fast defending force like Trump has his Base. They are not concerned with ethics, or fairness or looking for the middle ground. All about interests. Likewise T5 has their supporting base on a forum like this.

Blizzcon will show how adament the crowd will be knowing that Blizzard is an authoritarian society what happended to Blitzchung can in some way or another happen to them. Not only China show  authoritarian power abuse. So does Donald Trump. Blizzard too. 

But in some mysterious way they have a staunch army defending them. When reason gets corrupted by power manipulation, fear and shutting down of critical thinking, bullshitting is the result. We see that littering this thread.

Can you leave Donald Trump and his supporters out of this once and for all, please? Yeah, he has a beautiful family, a gorgeuos wife, much more money than you, much more power than you, much more followers than you, much more friends than you, much more literally anything I could imagine than you... We already know that, dude, deal with it, thank you!

This is about bliztchung, China and Blizzard, not about Trump. If you want to start a topic about him, you should start a new thread, but I guess it would not last more than a few minutes... ;)

And there is not a staunch army defending Blizzard, actually it's the opposite. The community could have kept quiet and said absolutely nothing because it's not our duty to defend a player who breaks the rules, but instead most of us decided to support him and his cause from our homes. Isn't that enough for you? What do you really want? Do you want us to declare war to China or what???

But... What about you, Hooghout? I don't see you in the streets of Hong Kong protesting, nor fighting the chinese goverment in any way (LOL). Hypocrisy at it's finest, my friend!!! >:-(

 Well, you could do the Blizzard thing and ban them and take away their achievements.

They seem to go to great length at the moment to avoid any sort of public reaction. They disallowed post game interviews, gamer cams and they cancelled the Nintendo Switch Launch event for Overwatch. They seem to be pretty anxious. Blizzcon is going to be interesting....

Great that he eventually got his price and hia and the caster's suspensions were lowered to 6 months.

But don't forget it didn't get there until after the backlash.

Blizzard has sent a clear message: don't go against china.

The "change of heart" changes nothing.

First of, i dont folliw either this case or the HS pro scene  but Blizzard is 100% correct in their descission. In a tournament like this you dont just represent yourself. You represent the Game and therefor the company. Blizzard made it clear in the rules that they dont want to be associated with politics and that they would take action against any rule violation.

This was jusnt a very poor descission by blitzchung (not his opinion) but time and place for this sort of action and a lack of understanding the big picture of Consequences and Who you represent in these sort of events

Which of these actions in a Hearthstone tournament is worse for you: blatantly cheating in order to win or talking about politics related to freedom of speech?

both are rule violations and both should be punished according to the rules. As i said i dont follow the HS pro scene to know enough about this cheating incident but THIS case according to the rules should be punished as it was. And IMO cheating should also be punished to a simmilar sentence.

And from a buisness standpoint this is worse than cheating. If no action was taken, many future winners would do the same and its only a matter of time before someone take it to far, and then blizzard would be in deep trouble for not taking action in the first place. since cheating in a game is far less important than freedom and freedom of speach etc, its much easier to control if it escalated

No, it's not. Allowing cheating (or not be severe enough with those who cheat) takes away all kind of credibility from the company. Being honest with the costumer regarding your products is everything, and I'm pretty sure you can't deny that. If they aren't being honest, how are we sure the ladder system works properly? How do we know there is no RNG manipulation? How do we know it is worth participating in a tournament? How do we know they are not playing with our time and money invested? Etc, etc, etc...

Now, it's clear than cheating is less important to Blizzard than talking about politics, because the actions taken against bliztchung were much more severe and totally disproportionate in comparison to the ones taken against Roger, the chinese cheater... or should I say, it's clear than cheating, as long as you are a chinese player, is less important to Blizzard than talking about politics concerning China... All of this is repulsive, if you ask me. -.-

Still, waiting for Blizzcon. ;)

 what i mean from a buisness standpoint is that the chinese market is huge for blizzard in terms of money and that surely have an impact when reviewing this case even if they say it doesnt. IMO they cant really destroy the HS pro scene more and thats why im not surprised Roger and probably others cheat and why i think loosing the chinese market is worse for the company, not for us playing the game.

But i agree blizzcon will be fun to warch unfold this year

If you truly believe the response and follow up from Blizzard was not enough or over the top or whatever, then use the power you do have to voice your opinion.

That means protesting, uninstalling games, or refusing to hand them anymore money.

If you do agree with Blizzard and don't have an issue, your actions are the opposite then.  Give them more money, install more of their games and protest the opposite points.

I will NOT state where I fall on the spectrum, but the issue is nuanced and far more complicated than what is generally being presented.

In big overall general terms though, I of course do not support governments that suppress, oppress or silence their people for speaking against it.  Freedom and Free speech for everyone or no one.  I prefer everyone, even if I don't agree with them.

Remember when everyone said they were going to stop watching the NFL until Kolin Kapernick is put back on a team.... and then two weeks later all those same people were like "How bout them Cowboys, huh?" .... This, is that... just in e-sports...
People will only pretend to care briefly ... But hey, at least we can look forward to League of Runeterra.
