IDK what you guys want to achieve with these posts... Blitzhchung and the casters broke the rules and Blizzard has the full right to punish people who break their rules. Simple as that.
Also I dont think Blizzard gives a fuck about a few people and 1 caster who quit HS. This is a huge company and tons of people are interested in working for it

Sorry, but Blizzard neither cares about you for defending them, do you realize that?
Also, I want to clarify something I said before: I said China and Blizzard are our enemies and blah, blah, blah, but that is not 100% true, because after all, they are people, just like us. I would love to see Blizzard and especially China change their ways. Yeah, I understand this country needs for power, because power, whatever we like it or not, is fundamental in our lives, and Blizzard needs for money while staying competitive in the market at all cost is also understable from some points of view (obviously, without breaking the law). If only they could find a different way to mantain such a power, obtaining money and staying competitive everyone would be happy. I don't know, maybe helping each other and trying to understand different motives would be much better than fighting as always. Yeah, I sound as a dreamer and probably like a fool, but who wouldn't want to live in an ideal world? ;)
And dont you hear how fucked up that is? People have no moral values anymore. I hate this world.
Are you sure you aren't confusing real moral values with some stupid and irrelevant social rules imposed by the dumbest parts of our society in the past?

First: yes, he broke the rules, and he could have simply been disqualified, period. But banning him for a year, punishing him by removing his already earned price money and also banning the casters too; that's the issue. Punishment ok, but when blizzard talks on weibo about defending the pride of china, every 5 year old would understand that this ban was politically motivated... ok everyone except you.
Will there be money hungry people who wants to work there: yes for sure. But the fallout is big: Mainstream-media is reporting this; and you know you fucked up when a democratic and a republican senator agrees on something, and this already happened. Right now, the public view on the whole NBA and Blizzard-Scandal is rocket high. China is a very big market, but what happens if lawmakers here are now taking these companies in their eye, maybe even punishing them too.
I think that without the NBA-Scandal, this would not be as much of an issue. But now, it's happening. And blizzard can not longer play a sitting duck: Blizzcon is around the corner, and who knows: maybe it's time to send some subpoenas to the NBA, Apple, Blizzard, Tiffany and co out to ask them a few questions. Hopefully it will happen.

As much as I would love to see the world burn (just because it would be a lot of fun :P :P :P), I hope people at Blizzcon would achieve what seems impossible right now: to change Blizzard's mind and put an end to this topic.

Honestly, it's strange to see this community be upset over free speech.
I'm sure most people here are in support of free speech in a legal sense, in that you should not be punishable by authorities for your opinions and beliefs (to a certain extent at least). But the idea of free speech also has a moral dimension, and is seen as part of basic respect for other people. Valuing free speech from a moral perspective means that you wish to treat other people and their opinions respectfully, and likewise not be disregarded for your opinions.
Meanwhile, the debate culture here is in a rather poor condition. There are some very positive examples as well, but generally, I can expect that if I would say something that goes against predominant opinions, it won't matter how well I can provide reason for my point of view, it will likely get flooded in downvotes and short dismissive comments, if not personal attacks, insults or groundless accusations.
While I don't mind anyone to show support for the Hong Kong protests and voice their disdain for Blizzard's decision, I find it strange that this message board is getting outraged over opinion-restricting policies when almost every debate here is a battle for popularity, fought with polemic, poor reasoning, and polarizing, sometimes quite extreme statements. Seen in nerf-threads, "salt"-threads, the comment section in general, and in comments directly lashing out against specific groups of players (like F2P, or players of aggressive decks or certain classes). Even this debate ironically features some of this.
I'm glad that this community is so critical of Blizzard's decision, even when some of it goes too far or in the wrong direction for my taste. But I hope some people will take this incidence to reconsider what kind of climate they have established here.
Of course, there is a big difference between shutting down opposition and merely shouting it down. Being dismissive is not the same as censorship. However, a good debate culture engages in a respectful discourse with different opinions. If you throw around personal attacks, make extreme statements to provoke extreme reactions, and otherwise don't really bother to take other opinions seriously, you can still demonstrate for legal free speech, but you create an environment that doesn't encourage it beyond the legal meaning.

Well then, mr. well though through, nuanced, fatherly figure,
I applaud your impeccable comment. I'm not sure what you are trying to say and to whom. If you are talking about people commenting here, you must know by now that the comments are a reflection of who and what Blizzard is. And what is provoked has its petrification here.
Like China as a country, Blizzard is an authoritarian company that show little effort to be friendly and open. People sense that. Everything is reasoned from a marketing perspective and psychological maipulation just to play their games and as for Hearthstone concerned to buy their packs. People sense that.
What makes things worse is the pretence of the good. In Hearthstone they talk "balance changes", while you know there is non. They print cards that have the feel of unfairness, and are skill-killing (zephrys). The game is overly aggressive. They don't give skill the place it deserves. Diversity is a problem. Everything they do is to provoke emotions. And emotions buys packs. There is a tension here. Like something, but it comes with a prize of the feeling of unfairness. People sense that. They become angry.
The only good thing that they do is make games that people love. But their likebility is zero to non. The are seclusive, you must assume RNG is not rigged. That's why debate seems to be less civil, arguments are poor, people snap at each other. The Hearthstone community is an unhappy community. There's a reason for that. Look at the Tesla-community, or the Apple- community. Most consumers are happy there.
Blizzard lives of polarization. The reflection of that can be seen on fora like these. So don't try to make things better that needs fixing elsewhere.

You Sir, finally opened my eyes! For this i want to thank you from the bottom of my Heart.
There were Rules , in Black and white god damit, he should have known what happened . Like in the real World , without exactly enforching those rules there would only be Sodom and Gomorrah. You are so right. Blizzard and every authority has the full right to punish people who break their rules. Simple as that.

He has the full right to punish people who break the rules. Simple as that.
A Judge who let it pass when a 16 year old got caught for some stupidity? F.. this Judge, I´d suggest maximum punishment, he has the full right to punish people who break the rules. Simple as that.
Girl crosses the street , even tho traffic lights are at " Dont Walk", but a Cop doesnt bother and let it pass? WTF he has to punish her, thats his Job since he has the full right to punish people who break the rules. Simple as that.
Like for real , there are so many people to report technically everyone should be imprisoned! F..k those idiots talking about stuff like humaneness-evaluated- dessision making, and such BS .
Oh man i have so many people to rep t ( sorry , puked on my Keyboard) Thank you again for opening my eyes. Living by the rules, its litteraly simple as that.

Have you read the actual text of the rule? It is NOT black and white. "Engaging in any act that, in Blizzard’s sole discretion, brings you into public disrepute, offends a portion or group of the public, or otherwise damages Blizzard image..."
That's not black and white: that's an arbitrary judgment call. The rule doesn't even cite politics specifically.

You can't expect others to be perfect, that is asking too much. Most people here are morally grey (just like people in real life), and to make this simple to understand let's just say that being against freedom of speech is usually being morally black (yes "usually", because there are always exceptions, especially when talking about human behavior), and that is why most of us don't support it, even when we "love" to fight against each other from time to time. :P
Well then, mr. well though through, nuanced, fatherly figure,

So, you think that all hostility here comes from Blizzard's product design? Sorry, I'm not buying that. You are still responsible for your own behavior, which includes giving me a sarcastic title for no reason. And there are still enough people on this board who demonstrate that you can play this game without becoming uncivil.
What and who was I talking about? Well, you just gave a good example. In your picture, Blizzard is essentially the pure evil, an authoritarian company that lives on controversy and spurs it knowingly, all with the goal of making money - that kind of characterization would be the setup for a very simple world view, in which every person is either good (opposing Blizzard) or evil (not doing that). That would give you a great reason to not consider any opinion you would not agree with (since they are "evil"), and coming at me (you know, telling me to waste my energy elsewhere) on the assumption that I might take the wind out of your wings. Such rhetoric is, as I said, not in the sense of free speech, that you are (perhaps) trying to fight for here.
And make no mistake, a problematic debate culture is something worth fixing regardless of what goes on in the world. If nothing else can be achieved, I at least want to talk to people who consider their words, even when in anger.
By the way, funny that you mention Tesla as an example for a company with happy customers. I mean, I'm not one of them, but I'd think their happiness goes down a little if their car manufacturer is getting close to bankruptcy, partially because of cars (the Model S) that sometimes go up in flames for no obvious reason.
I'm glad that this community is so critical of Blizzard's decision, even when some of it goes too far or in the wrong direction for my taste. But I hope some people will take this incidence to reconsider what kind of climate they have established here.
Despite my previous comment, if the situation improves and everything goes back to normal, I promise to change my attitude in the forum and this time is for real. I have to admit that sometimes things really get out of control. Considering I have been a very active user for more than four years and the fact I like to make some jokes here and there when it's not really adequate, I'm guilty of that, just like many others too. I'm really sorry if you have not feel comfortable posting here in the past, I hope others change their attitude from now on too. :)

We make our world significant through the courage of our questions and the depth of our answers.
Aren't the rules pretty vague and open ended? Something about "offending" a group of people?
That could pretty much be applied to anything.
You on drugs?

Wingdude22 is being sarcastic... -.-
You can't expect others to be perfect, that is asking too much. :P
