So you ppl are mad cuz he decided to call for revolution on their stream about a (childrens')card game and they didnt like it? You rly think what he did was right by any shape or form seriously? And not to mention he did state what he state while knowing the tours rules and what would happen if he did so. Im not sure why you are mad at blizzard for doing what they say they would do if that happened, its their tour, their stream and politics have no place in such events anyway
True, but they also didnt took it too serious in Shaxy etc. incedents .
If they went stricktly by the rules for everyone, a lot of Players should have been banned before.

You're technically right. The rule, for those who don't know:
Engaging in any act that, in Blizzard’s sole discretion, brings you into public disrepute, offends a portion or group of the public, or otherwise damages Blizzard image will result in removal from Grandmasters and reduction of the player’s prize total to $0 USD, in addition to other remedies which may be provided for under the Handbook and Blizzard’s Website Terms.
BUT I say screw the rules. This is so much bigger than Hearthstone. He knows the atrocities happening in HK and he knew he had a platform at that moment, and he used it to call out against what is unequivocally a humanitarian and political disaster in Hong Kong. Resorting to technicalities and rules to say "hey look, he broke the rules, it's written right there" is ignoring the nature of the situation. It's like saying you can't criticize Hitler because you might "offend a portion of group of the public", namely, neo-nazis. Obviously an exaggeration, but the point is, this is worth using your platform for, and punishing someone for doing something so important to protect an autocracy and keep their business is something very few people can support.
I get it from a business sense. But certain things call for taking the high ground and suspending business as normal. This is the Tianamen Square of today.

Regardless of the merits of his position (I happen to agree), this is a disgusting and transparently cynical move from Blizzard to appease the Chinese. There needs to be public outcry about this both from the community as well as other GM players.

So far no GM player/streamer want to get involved or talk/tweet about that .
Understanably since the same could happen to them , and not everyone can afford to lose their GM earnings (wich is 7k for the 10 weeks and 500$ perwin over another player , wich is since 7-7 wins seem to be an average score , are additional 3.5k$ :im not 100% sure about that ,but something like this, was what Viper talked about on his stream.)
I wonder if Firebat or someone will cover it next Omnistone^^.
(edit: Firebat &Kibler already said they will cover it on the next Omnistone episode)
I haven't checked yet whether it's already been done, but I think that it would be a very bad thing to go and comment on other posts and the forums. Bad, mean thing to do, and it might upset Winnie. So let's nobody do that, mmmkay?
Blizzard has no problem when the vast majority of their Overwatch, Hearthstone and Warcraft streamers go on twitter or Twitch to insult and slander Trump supporters or conservatives in general, I guess in their eyes that doesn't damage their reputation or offend a particular group of people but supporting Hong Kong does? The commentators didn't even do anything and even they got shafted. Looks like I shan't be buying anything Blizzard related from now on.
i gonna have a unpopular opinion but i am agreeing almost totaly with blizzard in this rulling
Dont get me wrong its awfull what happening there and i can understand he wanna making a statement but first at all GM is not the place to make this statement and for sure not the way he did GM is the highest level of Hearthstone esports that should not be use to make statements like this Make a youtube video do it on your own stream but GM is not the place and he also signed and so agreed with al rules in the blizzard handbook
on twitter roger names is also called a lot that he did worse and get less punishment and yeah this is true blizzard fails there hard they should be banned for life in the esports hearthstone scene I mean cheating there is colance for that but that this was a bad rulling does nothin to do with this rulling
as last almost forgot i dont agree the part that he get no money at all i mean he haves put his time al the weeks in it and he should be get the money
To anyone saying that the GM tournament isn't the platform for change, then what is? Change doesn't wait for the proper platform, otherwise change would never occur. This KID saw an opportunity to make a statement and made it, good for him! The fact that a KID has to be a voice of reason on ANY platform is the problem.
Shame on Blizzard, regardless of whether this KID made a statement or not, he put in his time and effort into this tournament and at the very least should be compensated.

Reading the above statement, seems like Blizzard can just take anyone's paycheck away from them based off their own discretion. No wonder quite a few of the top streamers stopped participating in tourneys and whatnot. This is all pretty sad if you ask me...

While it's kinda sad a US company is gonna bend over like that, it's not exactly surprising. If I'm someone in charge at blizzard, would I rather explain to my shareholders why we lost money because China kicked us out for sticking up for some kid, or would I rather deal with some bad press for throwing him under the bus?
China's government doesn't act fairly when it comes to businesses. If they don't want you there you're screwed.
This must have been a difficult decision for Blizzard. Their sole reason for existence is making money by selling games. If they lose a potential market of 1.4 billion people, can you blame them for being afraid of that? If you have rules, you must enforce them, otherwise you can't make any claim next time this happens. Is this a podium for political statements? You can maybe compare it to the 2019 Super Bowl where Players were not kneeling During The Anthem On Live TV. This also caused a bit fuss.
I can’t answer the question, but I think it’s sad that a youngster like Blitzchung is in such a horrible spot where he felt it was needed, whatever the consequences. I can`t imagine how that feels like from my own safe and protected life. I can only admire his choice and I sympathize with him.
On a side note to all the people who criticize China and human rights violations, a great part of the (Western World) have been profiting from this immensely by buying cheap products from China. A lot of people never think of the horrible circumstances in which Chinese people must labor for 12 hours a day or longer (or they just want to ignore it and enjoy the cheap products). If you really want to make a statement, you should consider not buying any cheap products from China and other countries where Human rights are secondary to profit. It's easy to criticize and post something from your cheap I-pad, made in China
You know, Blizzard banning Blitzchung isn't all bad from my point of view. What is happening from this is that they are giving him some extra publicity and more attention to our community and many others.
Sure, banning him outright isn't something that I can get behind, but there is at least a good side to this. The atrocities happening in HK deserve to be stopped and Blitzchung did what was necessary to keep their financial relations afloat.
I hope Blitzchung gets even more publicity and that we can stop this. Blitzchung is an inspiration for risking an insane amount of earnings and his career to help out people. We should be inspired by this and regard him as a hero. I bid you all adieu.

Probs the best post I've ever read on this forum
actiblizz is china's little bitch. ofc they're gonna vote against anything that could harm their cash cow
just a joke really. hong kong was under british rule for almost 100 years. china's ruining it again
Good to know Blitzchung gets his earnings covered at least

China will run the world soon - first they get Blizzard, then the world xD

I can understand both sides.
