Lmao nothing is going to happen especially when Americans around the country cheered the blackballing of Colin Kaepernick. Nothing is going to change and people are just gonna go back to playing their video games.
The problem is that many fanboys who grew up playing StarCraft, Diablo and Warcraft games have felt Blizzard has been leaving them for a long time already. D3 auction house, milking old franchises rather than polishing new genres and "do you have phones" to mention a some.
I don't know how many will pull the plug on them, but it is the latest turn in a downward trend.

Defending Blizzard has its various ways. Out loud or like this: we can do nothing about it. Another ethics free comment which is sole reason why Blizzard can do what it did in the first place.

I'm seriously asking, where do you get that impression? I can't imagine how anyone who is even passingly acquainted with the situation would have anything but sympathy for the people actually going through it.

More often than not, these congressional "investigations" are PR moves for the congress person without any real bite besides the PR hit for the company - see Facebook earlier this year (last year?).

After reading all of this stupidity I actually went and made an account here just to tell you how irrelevant all of this outrage is.
First off, if you wish to quit the game and everything else Blizz related, fine, by all means do so, I fully support you, but don't delude yourself into thinking that any of your actually matter. If all of you, if the entire Hearthpwn active membership and the reddit membership quit playing Blizzard games it still wouldn't matter because you're such an extreme minority that it is laughable. The majority isn't even online because they aren't as invested into these games as you all are. Go ahead, pad yourself on the back for quitting and thinking that it will make any difference.
Second, Blizzard was in the full right to do this. It is in their rules. Now, you can act like a parrot and repeat popular youtubers by screeching ''the rules are too vague'' but they aren't vague at all. They are vague if you're an illiterate idiot. The rules are as clear as day and they were broken so the punishment is warranted.
Third, the cause doesn't matter. I don't give two flying fucks about what they guy said on stream and what is happening in HK. He has a full right to free speech but this wasn't a platform for it and Blizzard had made that clear. NO MATTER the message, if an owner of the platform says ''you can't do that, I don't want you to be calling for a fucking revolution on my bloody platform'' then you don't do it. There are millions of other places that will welcome you with open arms. If you said ''Fuck Donald Trump'' you'd get banned. If you said ''Fuck the us left'' you'd get banned. The cause doesn't matter.
I see children here acting all edgy and empathetic with ''yes, those are the rules but screw the rules'' which just shows that you have barely any experience when dealing with real life. You don't screw the rules, the rules are meant to be followed and if you decide to break them, willingly, you deserve any and all punishment that is coming to you. For the few of you who are actually employed, please, do go on and bash your bosses or co-workers car door in because they disagree with you on something ''important and noble'' and see how far will screwing the rules get you in real life, idiot children.
In the end, Blizzard is a company and its purpose is to make money. It is all about the money, that is how the world works. Of course that they won't break their ties with China, are you fucking insane? No one in their right mind would that. Did you expect a video game company to side against another country, on another continent, because of their politics? Are you that naive?!
Continue your outrage, the internet will forget it by November when the new games are announced and I'll see you all in December when the new expansion comes along. If you're serious about quitting, fine, let's set up an account, I'll add all of you and we'll see how long will it take before you log into another Blizzard game. My guess is the launch of the next expansion.

I think most reasonable people recognize that Blitzchung broke the rules, and the Blizzard was allowed punish him the way that they did.
I think the sticking point for reasonable people (and many of the posts in this thread have certainly not been reasonable) is that the punishment was overwhelmingly draconian, especially in light of how Roger and Shaxxy were treated with kids gloves for actually cheating just a few months ago.
To use an in-artful analogy, Blizzard went full death penalty, when probation made more sense.
Blizzard's heavy-handed response (including the caster ban) leads a lot of people to understandably believe that they did not make this decision alone, and instead were influenced/directed by less-savory actors. And that's disconcerting.
