Streamers, like Kripp, are totally ignoring the issue. Their greed turns my stomach. Kripp is already a multi millionaire, grow some balls.
His master is Blizzard, and Blizzard's master is China, he is litearlly powerless unless he wants to risk losing a business he's built for almost a decade. I don't blame him but I surely judge him, but again IS ANYONE SURPRISED!?!?!?! It's all a business, morals and ethics do not play into these people's lives, if you're only now discovering this because it's so overtly obvious you are in for a rough life.
Honestly , i wouldnt be surprised if he gained something out of it. I mean he would make a resonable statement like : he violated the rules and knew what would come , but im pro free speech and Blizzard reacted poorly etc. He´d be upfront on Reddit... but in the long run its maybe not wise.

To be fair, as much as I am on Blitzchung's side and against China, I don't see any reason why Kripp or other North American streamers should throw their livelyhood down the drain just because of this. Hopefully they will voice their displeasure at this but as far as going along with the whole Free Hong Kong stuff publicly, that would just be career suicide. Bliz got enough bad publicity from this and people outside of the bubble who depend on them for a living can make them pay further.
It absolutely is the place to do it. This is going to cost people their lives for generation if China is not stopped. President Trump has remained mum. The world need to help these people. We should be screaming from every screen on earth.
hahaha, "it's not a big deal", sure. to about 5 million+ citizens who are fighting for over half a year for their personal and national liberty it's just a thing they do for fun - just a tiny matter of things that will determine their entire future. just not a big deal, at all
Never understand why people feel the need to virtue signal. If you feel strongly about an issue, by all means, let yourself be heard.
But when you get on someone else's case for referring to the issue as "not a big deal" in the clear and obvious context of impact on twitch chat and streamer content, you're just ignoring reality to make yourself feel better about your moral standing.
I'm not in HK. No one I care about beyond one human being to another is in HK. Probably the most direct impact this entire event will have on my life is having to watch Pathra bumble thru another year of GM. If that doesn't qualify as "not a big deal", I don't know what does.
Meanwhile, the idea that we're supposed to fall out of our chairs and leap to action whenever oppression is taking place in the world is ludicrous. Where's your post about Sudan? Turkey? South Africa? Syria? For that matter, if you're American, the death toll on a weekend in Chicago is more noteworthy, so where's the outrage?
I'm sorry the guy got banned; I wish Blizzard would not kow tow that enthusiastically. I am, however, not surprised in the least. Furthermore, if you're calling on a streamer or some third party like that to do something about it, you have to at least be able to make a credible case as to what his/her self-sacrifice could accomplish, and in this case there is no reason to believe any one individual could affect Blizzard policy in the least.

Helpful Clarification on Forbidden Topics for Hearthstone Forums:
Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
This is a really poor decision for Blizzard. People forget that the Chinese government today is still the very same political party of Mao Zedong. His reign single handedly destroyed the country, eradicated most of the beautiful Chinese culture, and killed between 60 to 80 million people. While the progress of the Chinese economy has been nothing short of phenomenal over the last 20 years it doesn't change the fact the Chinese Communist Party runs the country unopposed. Criticism of the government is still illegal today - just one of the myriad ways they continue to oppress the Chisese people. Those who think they have it tough in the US under Trump are living in Lala Land and have no idea what oppression actually is.
In China they have implemented a social credit score along with mass surveillance of the population using hundreds of thousands of facial recognition cameras to monitor and control the people. Not a fan of the ruling party? Oh well, you get a low social credit score. What happens when you have a low score? Can't buy train or plane tickets. Can't have a bank account.
This is a truly stupid move from Blizzard and it shows once again the power of money. Trump gets a lot of flack for a number of things, some it truly deserved but his trade war with China is needed. They are slowly taking over the world in a financial sense - owning foreign companies, subsidizing local business to allow them to destroy global competition in order to 'win' on the global markets, and have little regard for things like intellectual property law.
People have little to no idea just how evil the CCP is. I absolutely love classical Chinese culture that gave us martial arts, chi gung, and Chinese philosophy like the tao de ching and the i ching. But the CCP is very very far from that.
Of all the things Blizzard have done in the past, this has upset me the most by some distance. To ban a player and essentially confiscate his earnings for criticizing an oppressive regime is one example of how effed up things are in the world today.
Bad move Blizzard. This shows without doubt that no value is placed on anything other than money. What about valuing diversity? Morals? A sense of democracy and fairness? Different points of view? Nope, we'll just take the money thank you.
I think this may be the first time I've actually been triggered by something. Disgusting. No other words for it.
I’m with you. Communism ruined China. Fuck communism

Yeah, that's pretty much the one thing they should be doing and can do without getting banhammered and excommunicated from future events etc.
The ethics-free bandwagon pundits seem to be having a hard time defending Blizzard this time. Some even lash out over 'moral virtue signaling' and that those who criticise just do it to feel good about themselves. Not much of an argument, is it?
These authoritarian types understand Blizzards authoritarianism (money) and likewise the Chinese government (power).
What we see here is repulsiveness at its peak.

We make our world significant through the courage of our questions and the depth of our answers.
If Blizzard kept all its communications strictly un-opinionated, I would respect their decision to enforce the rules of the contract to penalise a political statement and keep the game environment completely neutral. However, Blizz is increasingly obnoxious with its virtue-signalling woke politics. Therefore, it has itself decided to become political. In this context, its decision to punish Blitzchung (and the casters, what?!...) is pretty pathetic a rightly deserves contempt.
Already disinstalled the launcher and all the games after this. The only regret is I recently gave Bli$$ard money for classic WoW. Anyone who wants to protest against Bizzard's stance should suspend their account, as this company does not deserve our money.

Let's sink this ship!
A) Blizzard punished a player who clearly violated the T's & C's of the competition he was invited to play in. Absolutely, nothing wrong with that.
B) Even if Blizzard did something wrong, so what. Why would anyone cut off their nose to spite their face?
I'm just stunned by how people are thinking here, even if it's your very right to think what you want.
I'm forced to admit you are pointing some truth on this point. But here we are on a Blizzard's game forum, we are playing on Blizzard's game, we are giving blizzard our money, and we are discussing about Blizzard's policy on THIS subject. I can talk about Sudan, or about the Democratic Republic of Congo where massacre are being occured since so many years from now for the sake of natural ressources and which no one is talking about. But this not the subject here.
The subject here is that Blizzard have prioritized the wealth of a game and business over the health of human beings, fighting for their very rights. Objectively in a business concern, are their right ? Yes, that's the best way to protect SOME (the caps are important, China are not their only income) of their money.
Now, are you Blizzard ? Do you think that's right in a ethical way, without thinking about money and business ? You'll be happy to give them money again ?
No way for me. To all those "non-millenials" , so much confident about their wisdom about life that they become embittered and just can't stop patronizing everyone , and keep saying that the world isn't spinning this way, you know what ? I fucking know it and i'm plain conscious about it, but that's just not the way I want the world to spin, so I'll continue to be protesting against it.
And I know my act is fucking meaningless, I know I won't change the world alone, but I believe that a meaningless act repeated by millions of people will take a way way bigger dimension, and that's actually how you change thing, even if it takes fucking centuries. What would you want to do ? Nothing ? Remain silent?
I know it's the people of Hong Kong who will change the thing not me and that they are the brave people not me, but at least i'm not supporting the way blizzard acts, and if my action combined with many many others from other people can give at least a tiny tiny tiny support to those who are fighting for it out there, i'll fucking do it.
I've been on Blizzard side for so long, started with WC2 and 3, Diablo 2, Vanilla WoW until Bfa, Overwatch and Hearthstone. And yes it kinda feel bad in a way because I was actually having so much fun with by Secret Box mage on ladder, or with my Frost DK, or launching some casual games on OW.
But i'm done, i'm uninstalling every blizzard game on my computer and cancelling my WoW subscription.
Thanks for everyone on this forum, I've spend some really good times with you, but that's the end of the way for me.

sad thing is no one cares cuz everyone dies every day somewhere in the world but hey no one is doing crap about that
as much as we might hate it we just move on nothing to see here of course i want freedom but meh we're fucking peasants in a small system
At least we got some free packs today.
Let's be realistic about this. It won't take long for virtually everyone to completely forget about this. It's not a big deal.
Tell that to the people living in Hong Kong, or Thaiwan...
If you thought you knew what you think I know, then you'd know I knew you knew I know.

For people in Hong Kong, I don't think the beef between Blitzchung and Hearthstone is their biggest concern atm.
