Most people on this forum are complaining about all kinds of things and how much this game sucks, people are very rude when they lose, sometimes they are rude even when they win... why is that? I see a lot of frustrated people here. Are you forced to play this game against your will or what?
Everyone has their reasons, but I see them divided into the technical and the personal: either you're upset because there's a mechanic or design in the game that frustrates or bothers you (a game you otherwise enjoy), or something or someone in the game bothers you on a personal level (i.e. - BM, "aggro/control is cancer and the worst/brainless", salt adds, etc.).
From there, it's all how you express it. If you're just here to gripe, it's best sent to the salt thread (clearly not everyone thinks this way). If you're here to see what other people think about an issue you have with/in the game, this is a great place to go as long as you're interested in dialogue and not proving how right you are. If you're here to be difficult, insulting, or condescending, well I guess all I can say is welcome to the internet.
This is a problem as old as any kind of public forum has ever existed, be they in-person or virtual. Hearthstone players aren't particularly unique in their dissatisfaction.
There's also the concept of P2W vs F2P, but that's not generally what we bellyache about 'round these parts.

Rage quitting: the best way to ensure your opponent knows they beat a giant baby.
I love and hate this game. It can result in powerful emotions. I know I'm not alone.
When you lose a "fair fight" you can deal with it. But many aspects of the game feel unfair. I appreciate this is very subjective. But those feelings of being screwed over by something ridiculous or just plain "wrong" drives people to rage.
Of course, we should all control ourselves. But every once in a while we all need to vent. :)
its annoying when you want to play your fun deck, but have to deal with cancer trash like otk priest, normal card shaman (aka quest Shaman), or quest druid, or just get queueued into whatever deck counters your deck 10 times in a row. Its annoying when you put the effort into building a really cool deck, and just play against assholes that just want play whatever deck is hot and wins. It would be great if there was a key forge rule, where every deck had to be unique, even if it is only 1 card difference.
No offense to the great work for democracy in Hong Kong and don't want to compare that to the repulsive, skill killing card design in Hearthstone. But the reasons are overlapping: oppressive, authoritarian card designers, acting like "China" endangering freedom of a skill based game. You got your question answered.
In the end players aren't frustrated. The core of HS is a Trump base: as repulsive and abhorrent. Especially the pundit type.
I don't think politics has anything to do with the OP. I'm guessing the majority of hearthstone players don't vote or are too young to vote. That my guess which is all we can do on that front.
From playing some of the first online games I can tell you nothing has changed. Starcraft people would go ballistic, make death threats, lift all their buildings if they're Terran. In counterstrike people troll and lose a game on purpose and you get half an hour or more of that shit. Online gaming is toxic if you let it bother you. I honestly laugh when I lose to priest or murlocs on turn 4 or if my opponent highrolls crazy mutates. It's just funny and getting mad is not worth it.
I mean, at least there is some drive to bring something else into the explanation.
Talking politics is a tacit admission that you acknowledge there is absolutely no reason to act this way about a digital card game.
Maybe next year you'll get to the point where you can tacitly admit there's no reason to act this way about anything else, but baby steps.
In other news, I remember a year ago or so I started burning name changes and what not in different games to have some sort of Trump theme. Got my avatar here, got the handle "TrumpYeezy2020" in Starcraft, etc. It's absolutely mind-boggling the effect that has on other people's interpersonal skills. In general, I don't hold with the "you mad?" strategies, but my God . . . how can one resist when there is this much rage to be enjoyed?
I’d love to get your opinion on my grit thread I made, “true skill in HS”. I’ve been condescending to you at times, and I apologize. You seem like a funny and smart bloke.
Personally it's because I've invested so much money (~$200) and so many hours into this game over the last 3 years that I feel compelled to keep playing even though I despise it because otherwise all that money and time would have been a waste.

Because people are statistically more likely to respond in forums if they feel extreme emotions. Lots of studies have backed this.

The fact that hearthstone is becoming more and more pay to win with each expansion doesn't help either.
The average dust cost of t1 decks has risen like 400% since boomsday

Gamers have enjoyed anonymity for far too long. The culture is just a bit out of control.
Cause they are Malding KEKW

I have a lot of fun playing hearthstone. Only been playing a couple of years though. I think I've spent maybe $40 of my own money on the game
