Hey Guys, this is my first ever post as a just signed up today... I’m not sure if this is in the wrong place or I should post this somewhere else, anyway my main issue is that I am a F2P player. Over the course of a year I accumulated a decent amount of cards but when Saviours dropped I wanted to craft an actual proper deck for the first time. So I pretty much went in hard and disenchanted everything to make the Highlander Mage deck which is now needless to say garbage compared to what it used to be, so I’m just wondering what I should do deck wise... Because if I disenchant this whole deck I only end up with a bout 4500 dust, considering I used like 15,000 to make it that’s a pretty substantial loss in dust. Any suggestions? Cheers
If you're intending on playing Hearthstone for any extended period of time, don't go broke for ANY deck. Even if that deck is the best deck in the game, either the meta is going to change and it won't be the best anymore, or you're going to get bored of it and want to change.
Accumulate as many good cards for every class, especially rares and epics. Then watch streamers play different decks, or browse the 'Decks' section of this site, and find different decks to play. When you find something that you like, figure out what substitutions you can make so that you don't have to end up selling your soul for dust every time you want to play a deck.
There's a fair amount of cheap decks out there. In the beginning, expect to play aggro and midrange a lot more, because the more expensive decks are just going to do crazy things with their legendaries. But you can still do a lot going face lol :D
Be well-rounded. Try out 4-6 different classes. Don't just set your sights on one.
Yeah well I was really apprehensive about disenchanting all my stuff and on this particular account which I’ve had for about a year I did exactly like you said I substituted everything for other cards, but realistically those decks can only get you so far up the ladder... Which is why I decided to create a proper deck for the first time and actually be part of the Meta rather than trumped by it.
I definitely learnt my lesson haha, but otherwise I have 10 legendaries on me right now they being; Stargazer Luna, Luna’s pocket galaxy, Reno, Antonidas, Kalecgos, Zephrys, Vargoth, Zilliax, Siamat and Alexstraza. Just wondering if there’s a cheap deck that I should make which is sort of Meta that includes a few of them? Other than the Highlander mage haha... Thanks for your time btw
Just craft a hunter deck. It's cheap and easy to play. You don't need to have all the greatest and latest to have an effective deck.
This site and HSreplay.net (<--- easier to use than this site and far more stats on deck performance) can give you lots of options for decks if you just look. Don't have all the cards then let HS finish the deck for you as the auto complete is pretty good most of the time at adding in effective cards for what you already have. Heck.. pick a class you like. Add in cards you like and let HS finish the deck for you with what you have and you can always remove/add cards after if you see something isn't working. Take control of your playing experience.
Don't worry bro. A lot of those neutral cards will still be good. Mage cards as well. Only downside is luna's pocket galaxy, and that's just one card. So chin up, next exp will be good :D.
I feel your pain. I am also an F2P player and for many years I did exactly the same as you - I was looking for compromises. I usually chose good meta-decks and removed all "too expensive" cards from them. It was possible to win that way, but the game experience was far from optimal (sometimes even one legendary card makes the difference between T3 and T1). One day I realized that I was just fed up with this game and had enough looking at good decks with envy. I spent about 25,000 dust and crafted three top best meta-decks. Was it worth it? It was my best time in HS I've ever had! I reached rank 3 (previously I could not break above 10) and had a great time overall.
The problem is that it doesn't last. After the rotation you will lose your decks and won't get your dust back, going back pretty much to the starting point. In general, my observations are that having fun in HS requires the quality and diversity of your collection... which is actually out of your reach as an F2P player in a long term.
Probably the best solution is to stick to the classes that Blizzard currently likes (Warrior, Hunter, Shaman, Paladin) and to avoid those that they currently hate (Warlock, Priest). Mage, Druid and Rogue seems neutral to them. Currently, I focus all my attention on Druid and I feel pretty good about it :).
1. Let this be the "remember this mistake" 2. Always remember that [predictions and meta] in the start are never clear and exact 3. Do not be in the rush 4. Try drop a buch of cards and click "Complete my deck" - it works even in wild now 5. Good luck and have fun

Mage and druid always screw you like this. They're generally some of the highest played classes and cost a boatload to make. Combo priest is essentially 20 commons and you can play it with one legendary. You've 9000 dust in mage class cards, I think you have to bite the bullet and play a Reno mage deck. Apxvoid is a mage player on twitch and he always takes Mage to legend, usually with 2-3 different kinds of mage decks. Maybe just perfect the list and play as best you can with the cards you have.
I think that what prevents you from getting higher rank is your meta. Highlander Mage is a really strong deck but it can be rushed by such aggro if you don't have early clears. You should try Midrange Hunter, it is cheap and strong. With Zuljin, it can swing the board and shuffle many powerful beast to prevent Fatigue. Just record your meta and find out what destroys you the most.

highlander mage is pretty much the same as it was before lol. A 2 mana increase on lunas is not really thaat much of a drawback.
I play this Deck a lot and it works out just fine. Coin a naga sand witch on 4 and there you go with a 5 mana lunas again for example.
You can still hit lunas with tortollan pilgrim too.

Please dont start disenchanting your cards bro to make a meta deck that may become completely obsolete at some point.
Save some gold and play arena for a little bit or spend a little rral money here and there on packs.
Theres no rush to become completely competative over night. The player base and game wont go anywere.
Some of the best decks i climbed with at the start were buget decks to ranks 10 and 5. Play smart and efficiently.
