So apparently Trump made an aggro highlander paladin deck, and everyone thought it was going to be a meme. Only that it wasn't, and it went 9-1 to top 100 legend. Is this deck actually good and worth crafting or did Trump just get insanely lucky in his games?
If winning 9 games to 1 meant you would get top 100 legend, ladde would be a whole different ballgame. He would have to have already been top 300 legend or so to begin with - which makes his "achievement" less impressive.
Though, with the state of the meta (and the fact players play weird meme decks in legend mostly), I'd be more impressed with it going 9-1 at rank 5.

I don't really understand your answer. Nobody talked doing 9-1 from rank 20 to top 100 legend here, just said that at the end of his run he ended up top 100. Which doesn't necessarily mean the deck is good, but at least it was played against people who are probably at least a bit decent at the game and not just some rank 15 being surprised and not knowing how to react.
For the deck itself, I didn't try it yet but will give it a try soon since I opened Finley yesterday. I think it's solid honestly.
Had a look at the video and the deck seemed decent enough. He did get some insane top decks to swing games but that doesn't really tell us the deck is bad. Whether it is worth crafting or not depends on a lot of factors. How many cards do you need to craft? How much dust do you have already? Do you care much if it turns out to not be competitive?
I'll probably give this deck a try this season when I'm at legend. Until then Quest Shaman/Druid are winning everything so hard I don't feel the need to experiment much for this climb.
I tried it yesterday with one sub, sandbinder for octosari because that's not a card I care to craft. I sure struggled a lot to make the deck perform at rank 8, I think I won as much as I lost.
I watched the video. He's trump knows how to run his funny decks and clearly had a deep understanding of the synergy. That octo saved his life in that one game. Octo is hit or miss. I have the card and with there being only one copy in your deck depending on it to bail out your empty doesnt always happen. Your opponent will never leave it up and by the time it comes out something else would have got silenced if they run it. I think its better then myras but wont let you nomi the following turn. Its a tough call i i would never craft it if you f2p or tight on dust.
Streamers who are affiliates get added rng the first of the new season to help boost their rank, look st his top decks in that video for proof. It’s garbage for anyone not spr3ading the propaganda.
Played it about 10-15 games yesterday and enjoying it a lot. Good ratio with it too, and I almost never hit Octosari. Lost a few games to clear missplays from my part, but just need to learn the deck better. Also, in my experience, it seems pretty hard to beat Quest Shaman and that's a lot of the ladder rn, but honestly I felt favored against anything else. Games were pretty ez.
Alza also hit #64 with Highlander Paladin (a secret focused version). FWIW, Zalae though this would be a good deck during review season, but nothing came of it. (I only mention him because I don't remember anyone else being excited for it.)
I think the accomplishment(s) say(s) that, if you manage to dodge warriors, Aggro is pretty good right now. Even if it's particularly janky looking aggro like this or Zoolander. And also Zeph is a great card.
I think it also shows how undefined the meta still is at this point. Besides "Control Warrior good," I'm not sure I can say a whole lot else with great certainty.
It's easier to win in ranked legend then say ranks 5-1. Why? Bc once you hit legend, you cant get demoted out of legend. Therefore legend players get to play off meta, weird funny decks that might not always be tier 1. Ranks 5-1 is where the meta tier 1 decks are playing, where you will have a hard time achieving a great win rate with a non tier 1 deck.

Quest Shaman and Druid are good and Priest is decent because Druid is good.
It's kinda meh ... i prefer tempo rouge ( you have more weapons , bounce/cost red., myra + zephyrs, lackeys ,target removal, face damage, etc)
But yeah ... is fun to see sir finley of the sands being played instead of summon by tip the scales , i give it a solid middle tier 2 imo ( not so strong but well at least is not a worthless meme ) maybe im wrong and this deck could being a tier 1 some day if blizz give him more suport in the next expansion/new year.
A lot of the earlier versions of the deck before the particular high-legend run were showing around 55% winrate. Overall, looks like a decent-enough aggro deck that can bust out some immense highrolls. At best, it'd be a little better than other aggro decks.
Probably a lot more expensive than other aggro decks, however. Zephrys sees a lot of use, but Octosari and Findley are harder asks. Whether you should craft it depends on how much dust you have to spare, and how fun you think the deck looks. If you're on a budget, or don't love aggro paladin in general, I'd skip it. It's probably not that much better than some other aggro deck. If you've randomly pulled Findley, crafted Zephrys for wider use, and maybe only need Octosari, eh, go for it.

I wonder if Cult Master would be a better replacement for Octo. More aggressive stat line, and slower but potentially bigger draw potential.
It's a solid aggro deck. It does well against midrange, and it usually loses against control. I personally have not lost a single game against midrange using this deck.
For those who think aggro is mindless, this deck is proof that it's not. You have to play well if you want to win with this one. I suspect that those calling it a bad deck are either not as skilled as they think they are, or they are not accepting the fact that it's not meant to beat control decks.

It's not good.. Wait for a week...

What he meant was in legend ranking meme decks have better chance than rank 5-1. I have tried the deck. Trust me... It goes out of steam early.

How important is Octosari? Have everything but that.
It isn't a good deck and no need for a thread on it. To really find out, you should have made it and played it. That would tell you so much more.

It's good if you have Brazen Zealot in your first few draws, it's a bad Zoolock if you don't.
