I'd have to pick from the classic set (since these are cards that will always effect the game). I'd say Northshire Cleric is up there, as one of the last remaining 1/3s in the game and with a very strong passive effect. This card wins games when played on turn 1 against aggro and win games when played on turn 1 against control.
It should probably be Sorcerer's Apprentice, Brawl, and Scavenging Hyena + Unleash the Hounds, but it's kinda not been. I think a lot of the low-cost neutral minions that draw cards could possibly be restricting how some classes get alternative options in the future. But currently I don't feel like there's anything necessarily restricting what they can make.

Sorcerer's is an exceptionally good call as is scavaging. Both cards are auto includes in most aggressive decks and leave little room for alternatives when the power level of these cards is so high.
I was considering the draw cards myself. Getting rid of standard draw cards like loot hoarder opens the possibility to more fine tuned draws to each class. That or just redesigning how cards are drawn in the game.
Maly and Alex really should go with leeroy people die to these cards since forever.
While i dont think they restrict cards too much right now (Maly does) they are kinda just too good at what they do for a card to take its place without it being broken.
Ps: also brawl rng and unstopable northshire draws really pile on over the years
I'm not so sure about alexstraza. Any combination of cards that could utilize this in to a combo are probably too powerful anyway although it does create a problem with mana reduction cards like emperor thaurissan
Im not in the camp who thinks Auctioneer needs to be nerfed or even deserves to be removed, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought about how warping the card is that any time a 0 mana spell is revealed people still pause to consider if its the final piece in the puzzle to an auctioneer deck. And that is undoubtedly a card warping effect, where low cost spells are at a premium.
the stonetusk boar it isnt a meme like people think, Blizzard did admit to axing a lot of designs because of Stonetusk boar, the thing is that any charger that costs less than 3 mana or a special condition has the potential to become something ridicolous, just look at OG quest rogue, if they gad HoFed Boar the quest wouldnt even have had to be nerfed in the first place, it would have gone the value flame elemental route giving your opponent time to answer, while with Boar, Patches shadowstep and deckhand the deck represented 20 damage from hand for as low as 3 mana, sometimes even less. And quest rogue's second run was because giggling inventor and viscious scalehide but everyone knows that 5 mana Giggling Inventor was broken

Let’s not forget APM priests hitting people for thousands of damage lol
All situational, never dominating. Brawl is only good in a control shell, which isn't always good or available. Even with Leeroy aggro sometimes having trouble, imagine without it.
From what I can see here, it seems that any card in basic or classic that is still considered good "needs" to be HoF'd, haha.
I still think it's ok for some old strategies to still work, and for some cards to be powerful. This whole idea that people "win the game" with a turn 1 Northshire Cleric, or that a couple of 9 cost dragons are "broken" just exhausts me. I'd rather see more creative additions to the game, rather than the removal of a few more interesting, worthwhile older cards.

Those cards are more than good, they are the best cards at what they do, leeroy is the best finisher for aggro decks, malygos is the card you look at for mana cheat and cheap spells, alex is that card you will always think about for setting up an OTK. they are really cool cards but there is no way to make a similar card thats better without it being broken
Divine Spirit has so far not been mentioned here. It singlehandedly stifles any chance of priest ever being more than the "if anything survives, I will kill you!" class. The new Legendary just made that situation worse.
I'd love to see a really board centric midrangy style priest deck, that doesn't have to rely on that huge burst in the end!

What classic card would you consider the most restrictive card when it comes to blizzard creating new expansions?
What card do you feel is holding blizzard back from make great innovative new card designs?
Stonetusk Boar
Lol, I love the Stonetusk Boar memes.

Check out some of my decks:

Heard a lot of talk that malygos is problematic. Can't really disagree but redesigning some of the silence cards might be interesting

Malygos
Alexstrasza
Leeroy Jenkins
Brawl
Northshire Cleric
These would be my top 5
I completely agree. Wouldn't be surprised at all if some of these are Hall of Famed next rotation.

Hrmmm... my top 5, in no particular order, would be
Malygos
Gadgetzan Auctioneer
Leeroy Jenkins
Sorcerers Apprentice
Northshire Cleric

It it definitely an underlooked card and needs consideration when designing future cards.
Magma Rager
From the Classic set, none.
All situational, never dominating. Brawl is only good in a control shell, which isn't always good or available. Even with Leeroy aggro sometimes having trouble, imagine without it.
