The real problem with Big Priest is resurrection mechanics. My proposal for a nerf was that every time he uses a resurrection card instead of reviving it with original minion statistics, it depends on how the minion has died. For example: If a 1/1 or 5/5 dies when using a resuscitate card, it will return as 1/1 or 5/5.
I was spamming every big priest thread since last year saying that nerfing barnes is wrong. Yeah it helps a bit, but the deck will still overwhelm 95% of decks in the mid range and late game due to bullshit resurrect spells. Everything fast loses to statue (lich king too sometimes) and everything slow loses to spellstone/vargoth. Think about this a bit, the most optimal big priest lists usually have 2 spellstones and 1 mass ress, ideally for them if they pull 2 more of these from shadow visions you basically need to have 5 twisting nethers to clear that off, not to count the 4 resurrects before those waves and 2 smaller copies from shadow essence which pretty much remove any chance of you having any board. Bullshit deck that should have never existed
I can imagine barnes was problematic for most classes but i'm usually begging for it with potion of madness in hand. There are play arounds but it makes the game more restrictive as a result.
Saying that, a 1 mana increase isn't going to make much of a difference
The problem is ALL the pieces combine together to form the Voltron of Wild. Yes, yes, I know it's not a Tier 1 deck, but it's just so damn annoying to play against.
I think first we should see the effect of the nerfs before making any more judgements, but if big priest is still a problem afterward, then they should make big priest more counter-able by nerfing some of the resurrection cards to "summon the lowest cost friendly minion that died this game" that way if you really hate rez priest you can counter it with Gravelsnout Knight if you really hate it, or just play a class with transformation spells. plus it makes Barnes more of a liability
I think over the years Priest had so many Recruit and Resurrect mechanics along with help tools to perfect this deck archetype. I think so far this is the most perfected deck in Hearthstone, it's very hard for cards from new expansion to replace any of its existing cards. Eventually, other decks will reach that state, and then it will be the problem in Wild.
Overall, I don't think the problem with Big Priest is any card in particular (though Barnes was a bit OP I admit). But it's more like the problem comes from the nature of the Wild Format itself. Because there is a huge card pool, Priest happens to have so many good cards that work very well under that deck archetype.
If they added the line "While this minion was on board" to Vargoth, it would fix a lot of the problem as well. Ressed vargoth recasting the spell is cancer
There are decks that don't struggle against it. Having a good time tonight
isnt the dragon IF priest deck meta just because of the extra arms buff tho???, i mean the cards were already there but the deck was tierish 4 before extra arms got buffed, i'm actually curious, we dont get a ton of input from wild legend players.
The problem is Eternal Servitude, remove the word friendly from servitude, there you go, fixed big priest
No ES is fine, you need Barnes for ES to do anything.
Increase mana cost with 1 point for all ress spells. Done.
OK now Barnes is not the problem. Now es is problem. Then es is not the problem, resurrect spells are problem. JUST STFU.
i've always been an advocate of nerfing ES over Barnes, many BP decks forego Barnes anyways, the Barnes nerf changes nothing
I would honestly say that Shadow Essence is more of a problem than Eternal Servitude. Being able to cheat stuff out of the deck is stupidly powerful.

The problem is the Priest Class it self.
All priest Spells are Cancerous! have a huge value the only class who can turn a lose to win with only one spell is priest.
In Hearth Arena almost all priest spells are recommended unlike other classes.
No, it Murloc Tinyfin.
Ok, but what about the flavor of the card? The card name and the art wouldn't make any sense... :(

It is. I really enjoy the deck so just trying to squeeze some fun in before the nerf.
I have 54% w/r over 942 which isn't bad and got me where I am now. Highly recommend whilst you can.
oh imma try, have all the cards, thanks!
