So, I come back to the game after several months (half a year) without playing and I see everyone with this golden mech in like pretty much every deck. At least any kind of deck seems to run SN1P SN4P. As you can imagine, I feel a bit disappointed to have not been part of the late Rise of the Mechs event..
My questions are :
- is it staple to the point I need to craft it ?
- is it legal to play it without it being golden ?
I can't answer your first question (I don't know enough about the meta to be able to judge), but I can help with the other two:
- It is legal to play it without it being golden. It will rotate out of Standard play along with the rest of the Boomsday expansion.
- You cannot open it in Boomsday packs. The only way to obtain it golden was to log in during the event. If you want it now, the only way to obtain it is to craft it, and it cannot be crafted golden.
Very Strong - Don't need Golden version, not that fancy... Don't come in Boomsday packs. U can build several decks with it, in wild u can use "Portal + Mech 2mana" to reduce the cost to 0 and mount an inifinite (player turn time) OTK MECH in the turn or u can use "Corpse widow + 2mana Mech" zero mana too.
It's a strong card but it's not really a staple in any deck. I see it as a strong flex card most of the time. There are many candidates for crafting I'd go for ahead of it if you have an incomplete collection.
I'd say that most legendaries are not staples, so you don't need to craft sn1p-sn4p, just run something similar (Harvest Golem is similar, but I'd rather run something else that fits your deck).
The main reason snip-snap is good is because its synergy with Zilliax. When you play a 4/6 snip snap, you're opponent would generally like to ignore it. If you're running low on health, they will kill it. Just to avoid the possibility of healing for 14 from a magnetize. It's amazing in warrior, but can be used in any deck that uses Zilliax. Any highlander deck and most control decks as well as aggressive mech based decks. Incredibly dumb that they give these away and don't make them cost less to craft. If I cant dust it why does it have to be crafted?
Apart from crafting this card - does anyone know if we can dust it (the free golden version) when Boomsday rotates in April? I'm guessing not which is unfortunate, would love to dust this sweet baby.

I doubt it. You haven't been able to dust any of the other "uncraftable" cards like C'Thun... The standard SN1P-SN4P is craftable, but the golden version isn't.

We are in the exact same shoes buddy.
I am freaking pissed to be more exact.
id say hold off crafting him. hes not really that relevant in standard to my knowledge much. but opinions vary. i think it rotates soon too.

Think how eccentric you will look running nongolden Sn1ppy! Ppl will wow all 3 times you play it

I faced no golden snip snap already.
it makes me feel weird. Dont do it.
I hate the card. I wish I could dust it but I can’t. I’d rather have the dust
It's a pretty good card and it's run in lots of decks, but I don't think it's hard to replace it in most of them
Good card but i would rather focus on rest of the deck. Not a priority honestly
Very good card that won't perform badly in any deck (comparable to Siamat). I think it's not waste of dust.

not necessary just use any other mech that sticks..

Go back in time and log in then return to the future. That would be the easiest way

It's strong but it rotates soon so you shouldn't craft it
Then I guess you should have freaking logged in, to be more exact.
