I was playing my quest druid deck today and I reflexively picked Crystal Power from Worthy Expedition because I needed to kill a 1 health minion on the board (murloc paladin, can't leave anything on board) but I forgot I completed my quest and thought, well damn this isn't going to work, but I did it anyway because the card wasn't going to serve much purpose. Weirdly enough it killed the minion and then the heal 5 kicked in but didn't apply so it died anyway. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems inconsistent with past similar interactions, especially when you consider attacking a minion with a life steal weapon can drop you below 0 health and then heal you past it. Is this working as intended or did blizzard goof up?
It sounds like the first part of the "Choose One" card resolves completely before the second part is applied. So the 2 damage hit the minion, the minion was at 0 health or less so it's death is resolved, and then the heal 5 was attempted to be applied to it but wasn't because the minion was already dead.
A similar interaction happens with BEEEES!!! where if the targeted minion has less than 4 health, then you'll have at least 1 bee left over because the attack resolves completely first.
A real inconsistency would be if the second half of Wrath (deal 1 damage and draw a card) still triggered on a minion that originally had 3 health or less. I haven't played enough Quest Druid to remember.

You're right that this card seems to be inconsistent with cards like Wrath which appear to employ both their effects before the minion is removed. I actually saw a player kill himself with that card before, because the damage took him to -1, and I guess he thought the heal would bring him up to +4 health. But it didn't. I was surprised too, tbh.
And interestingly, it is also inconsistent with other examples such as weapons with lifesteal, where attcking into something to take you into minuses is overruled by the lifesteal health that is granted after. Might be worth keeping an eye on this one, or maybe even mentioning it to Blizzard - not saying they would do anything, but yeah. :-)
I also think it's a bit inconsistent. If you got the Eye of the Obelisk completed (so restore 3 Health and give a minion +3/+3) and you have an Auchenai on the board, targeting an enemy minion with 3 Health or less won't kill it. It will apply the buff and the 3 damage simultaneously.
But it might still be, that the "choose one" effects are different, because they are executed separately. Then it will actually be logical and correct.
I am curious about your example of the player killing himself.
Why will the damage be dealt when you target a player after quest completion? Damage is meant for minions only
Huh. You're right. I must be misremembering. Perhaps it was a different spell then. Hmm. Now I'm really irritated with my memory, lol! I will have to go back through my replays to find out what it was.
theres a difference. when u attack a minion with a lifesteal weapon, both the effects, damage and heal, happens at the same time. -10 health + 10 health = 0, but the game doesn't show it that way, it show like - 10 and then +10, like it was on steps, it's not. on chose one cards the effect is in steps, first one, then the other. so, if it killed by the first one, the second won't work, like hell fire with the 2/2 deathrattle heal 4 for both on board.

Wraths both effects trigger when minion is 3hp or less. The problem with the crystal power that u resolve the first one, u just screw the wrath effect which is really important to draw whatever HP the target.
Actually they explained how it works here. When both effects are damaging spells, death is not processed till end of both spells. Hence, wrath triggers both effects regardless of target HP.
Crystal Power on the other hand is not both damaging, so heal does not trigger if target already dead.
The developers said they wanted the effect to give the player the maximum benefit, but the game is not psychic.
Because the damage comes first, they have to assume that you're trying to destroy the minion you're casting Crystal Power on. So if the damage would destroy it, they want to let that happen.
With Wrath, it is generally considered beneficial to draw the card. Also, dealing damage to a dead minion is hardly ever relevant. That's why they let both effects happen in that case.

That makes a lot of sense

It does (for wrath)

Had same issue, was surprises too.

yeah its kinda inconsistent, i would rather have it always trigger in the order on the card than how its now just so i know whats gonna happen
