I've been a F2P player for well, ever. And I usually find I get by just fine with the dust and gold I accumulate.
This expansion feels different to me. I did open up quite a few packs. Probably 78 packs by now. That is right in line or maybe a bit more than I do most expansions, but I feel like I can't build almost anything. I can build control warrior and that's about it.
It might be that I just overspent my dust last expansion and so I'm suffering a bit this one around. But, it might be that the decks are just really expensive to build this time around.
How has the economy been treating you this time around, and how many packs have you opened to get where you are?
Decks are expensive but I'm f2p player too and i have almost all viable decks for each class except Mage(so expensive). Btw. I always open like 70 packs each expansion.
I just brought 30 packs and got the most i wanted. Im just playing like 3 classes so. I crafted some epics and one legendary. Im having alot of dust anyway. Been playing since beta.
But its harder to get gold for packs and buying wings for singleplayer. Between. Sure i could buy the singleplayer but dont want because im f2p.
Im used to get around 70-80 packs between exp. And now im got 30 when i brought all dalaran wings before this exp.
Agree completely. The reason this cycle is more expensive is relatively simple: the average quality of legendaries is quite high. A lot of legendaries see play in different decks, and very few are not useful. Combine that with reno decks (which have always been expensive) and you have made a crazy expensive meta. But, to be honest, this has been the most fun I've had with hs in a long time, maybe since Old Gods. Despite the expansion being expensive, I really like the design of the archetypes (except control warrior, of course) common in the meta right now.
Depends on which classes you like to play the most. I don't like Warlock or Priest so I almost never craft cards for them, saving me a good chunk of dust. The current meta has a lot of Highlander decks which usually contain a high number of legendaries (e.g. Mage might require a total dust cost up to nearly 20k) so even if I already own most cards I still hesitate to craft them right away. My golden rule is: never spend dust on a single one if the same amount of dust would allow you to improve multiple other decks. And if you do, prefer neutral instead of class-specific cards (e.g. Zephrys the Great or Siamat which seem to be great fits regardless of the remaining shell)
I initially opened 60 packs and got 6 legendaries plus a good amount of epics. Been my best opening and I'm very happy with the expansion so far, lots of interesting decks and even some old fan favorites such as Tempo Warrior came back to life.
I pulled Druid and shaman quest and Amet on the first day with around 50 packs. Too bad I hate Druid and shaman. I am just playing priest since launch. But I am having fun with this right now. I spend too many dust on the first expansion though but I think it’s ok because these are the cards that stay the longest in standard.
