+1 for the feel that big Priest is problematic in wild
I wanted to focus on Druid in wild this season...but I face so many big Priest (rank 10-5) that I started to play a secret mage deck... With my other decks I cant handle the flood of Obsidian Statues they usually pull out after turn 4.
Stats stats stats - when Big Priest is up for discussion these do not matter...
Hell it could be a teir 4 wild deck I would still want the deck nuked from the game. I have done for years, it's the only deck I feel this way and I am not alone.
Why? Because gameplay matters and Big Priest not only negates minion battles, it outright punishes players for removing their minions. They are not a combo deck, with lots of stall, they still play minions - you are just not allowed to play your own and trade as normal. It fundamentally ruins hearthstone.
It's got to the point where nerfing Barnes would actually do almost nothing. That is how bad it's got. Turn 4 Vargoth...what do you do? Short of having them most premium transform removal in the game, you are fucked....because a 2/6 hit the board. It only ges worse from turn 4 onwards.
Mechanics matter boys.
Pretty much this.
Freeze mage also had this problem, so they rotated Ice Block despite the fact that the deck had some weaknesses and it was a skill-testing deck. Now in big priest there is nothing to rotate, and unlike freeze mage its a braindead deck. So we need some serious nerfs, like they did with Naga Sea Witch, which was also not unbeatable but it was really frustrating to play against.
I am also a consistent wild player. Usually end at around rank 9, best I ever did was rank 4 with renolock. This month, I've been straying away from wild and playing more standard. Currently Rank 12 in wild and rank 12 in standard. Big priest is a very frustrating deck to play against. That I have to agree on. It takes a certain skill set, patience and some luck to beat the deck. It's very strong, but, statistically not very strong. Any player who has ever played against it will agree with me that stats dont tell the full truth. The resurrect onslaught can be overwhelming. Katrina, mass resurrect, lesser spellstone, resurrect, eternal servitude, and some new cards from Uldum make it tough. even control warriors cant deal with all of that. It used to be a polymorph or hex and a sylvanas so it can be stopped, but now the deck as evolved. I've been playing alot of new wild decks but, I always stop and go back to standard once the dreaded priest is matched against me, lose everytime. Tough deck to beat, easy deck to pilot. Maybe I'll make a new version for this season and try to top my best rank ever (4) . If not going to odd pally or secret mage
Actually, it is one of the harder decks to pilot. There are non-aggro decks that mess up the Priest's Res plan, and there are decks with a ton of removal that punish Priest if it overextends or res's the "wrong minions".
Suggestion: develop your own skills instead of saying "deck X" is easy to play. Rank nine players have lots to learn.
Maybe you are misguided in my statements. When I say the deck is easy the pilot.. it is for me being I've played it for a long time, where it got some easy to play with its funny. Has I cannot speak for the community I speak for myself. Also realize I've been playing control decks since early 2015. I've played every version of big priest there is and I've had alot of success with it. The reason why I got to rank 4 (one of my best) was because I was on vacation from work and my RenoLock destroyed every big priest I played against. The stats do show big priest have alot of bad matchups. I also stated around rank 9 usually. My best being 4. Now that doesnt mean I havent done better or worse, it depends on my work schedule and how much I can actually play each month. Lastly and most importantly, when you play long enough, you know what can mess up your res plan, that's why sometimes it's better to kill your own minions ;) all you have to know is what can beat you, which I know very well.
So my suggestion to you is play Deck x enough and it will become second nature to u. If not goto the forums and scream for nerfs =)

i was playing quest cyclone mage to deal with big priest but many of them have cut many bulky high end minions in favor of adding convincing infiltrator to kill flamewakers and sorcerer apprentices
Aside from the discussion, everyone who comments that wild is an obsolete format and nobody plays it is just outright stupid. Yes there are less people who play it but there are plenty enough who enjoy wild, with and without it's problems. The fact that blizzard started nerfing cards that are only available in the wild format is proof enough.
Standard has plenty problems just like wild, however, standard is a more balanced format in a sense that you kind of know what you're up against and wild is just that, anything can happen which could be both fun and frustrating. But even wild needs some kind of control on certain decks (Like Naga Sea Witch and the paladin legendary that converts health into armor, allowing you to play 2 molten giants on turn 4 as well.)
Other than that, high roll decks will always exist and as long as the stats show that these highroll decks don't have crazy winrates it is not a problem, just frustrating.
The people who say that Wild is the inferior mode are totally out of their mind. With its variation, it is the mode that saves Hearthstone from dying. Many fun decks such as Reno Hunter, Mill Nzoth Rogue and Quest Amara Priest exist and they boost the motivation of experimentation of players. About Big Priest, if u face too many, please play a deck with a lot of transformation such as Anti-Big Priest Mage or Shaman with Hex and Devolve. Or play hyper-aggro deck to rush them before they can even Shadow Essence.

You read my mind, Reno Shaman atm does very well against Big priest, though you rarely see it on the ladder. Devolve, hex, tinkmaster if you run it and the new murloc spell totally wreck big priest. You could even get polymorph from zephrys
I think that instead of whining, we must find our own ways to surpass the wave of Big Boiz. I used to play Big Priest and although I love it, I felt really sorry for those who had been stomped by such resurrection. I prefer after the resurrection, the minions should be removed from the death pool and in order to resurrect them, they must die the 2nd time.
Because eternal formats are never as popular as standard. Not because some secret big priest cabal is trying to steal your funz.
Standard is more popular so no one plays wild. Great conclusion!
I will never understand these kind of posts. If you dont play wild, its cool, but then just dont say anything about wild topics. You would be surprised how many people are playing this mode. Saying that no one plays it because you dont play it is just rude.

It seems to me that Vargoth in res priest is the main problem for now.
I could hange with Barnes, but now there is just too much pain for a control.

So you said you could beat Priest with a certain deck? Sounds good to me. Use it.
Maybe quit Wild? It's not a good game-mode.
People still play wild? Lol.
^
It's not Hearthpwn if it's not complaining about a mediocre deck in a format no one plays!

I wonder why no one plays that format?
Blizzard afraid if everyone move to wild, so blizzard do nothing!!

This make sense, if Wild become too popular, balanced and fun people will have less interest in new expansions and this is bad for the business.
