Just turn him into a hero card with no armor gain like the others, the hero power and battlecry: Set your life total to 15 and equip a 3/7 weapon.
Everything will be ok.
How 9 mana "do nothing" and be in constant danger of OTK (due to 15 HP limit) could be "OK" in nowadays Hearthstone? Or maybe by "OK" you mean: be cute but unplayable meme card?
Well, don't die instantly because pact is a true buff to the card and all weird interactions (like the paladin secret) will be gone.
Wouldn't it be better just to adjust the Zephrys algorithm to no longer give you Sacrificial Pact against Jarraxus?
I think the idea that SacPact kills Lord J is kinda cool and thematic. One of the wacky things that Hearthstone can do that probably isn't practical in a paper card game. However, the reason it's cool is because SacPact is rare. It's not easy to get spells from outside the class, and Warlock doesn't really want to run SacPact most of the time.
But Zephrys makes it too easy. I'd just tweak the code on him.
Wouldn't it be better just to adjust the Zephrys algorithm to no longer give you Sacrificial Pact against Jarraxus?
Not really. At this moment it's more of a "theoretical issue", since nobody plays Jaraxxus anyway and nobody probably will in next couple years (if ever), so Zephrys is more like a nail in a coffin, than a real problem. The real issue is that anything other than Zoo Locks simply sucks and Blizzard clearly has no clue about refining this class. Warlock is not a worst class in the game by any means, but he is for sure one of most boring ones.
Rotation
Make a zoo deck
New Expansion
Add 3-4 cards to existing zoo deck
Repeat until next rotation
Freaking Warrior gets new archetype pretty much every single expansion (yes, I know that they are not always good and viable, but Blizzard is at least trying!) while Warlock almost always follows the rule: "Zoo or bust" and sometimes even: "Zoo and bust"... Is it really that hard to design something new and viable? Plot Twist Warlock was terrible even on paper and - guess what - in reality it's even worse. How could a professional designer even think that it had any chance of being effective, compared to Control Warrior or Mech Hunter? In my opinion they are either very cynical (knowing that what they do does not make sense and accept it anyway), or they are completely ignorant of their work, not understanding the game, that they are developing,
Heroes shouldn't have tribes. OP is right it's ass game design and was meant to be a joke interaction anyways.
But other than that Jaraxxus is fine. He is not the same as a hero card so he shouldn't become one. That he is no longer powerful is unfortunate, but the way of things. There are a couple of scenarios in which he could become powerful again in both standard and wild. They could just release a card that reads "trigger the Battlecry of a random minion in your deck and suddenly Jaraxxus would become interesting again.
Warlock is trash class in general. Look all the demons and spells. like 30% good. Even the basic and standard cards are all bad. Thats why retarded lizzzard save the class every expansion, because since the rotation comes the class drops. This is due to the above mentioned fact - all basic and standard cards are HIV/AIDS.
100% agreed with the fact that the interaction with sacrificial pact should be removed, it was fine at first but now it's honestly annoying, rendering the card useless against a highlander deck
I think the idea of Jaraxxus is that he "destroys your hero" and "possesses" you. It would almost be funny if the game went on "auto-play" as Jaraxxus after you play him (not really), but that's the idea. He kills your hero and possesses your hero's place... That's why he still has the demon tag. He's not a "hero"... He can also be recruited, or summoned from your hand without a battlecry, while playable heroes can not.

Velen is actually used in combo and otk decks, King krush is indirectly used now by hunters. So yeah, jaraxxus is really the most horrible one (at least in my opinion, but everyone has its own!)

What OTK deck ? play Velen on 7 and hope opponent doesn't kill it, so you can Holy Smite or Holy Fire next turn ? Velen is literally the least played classic class legendary in the game.
I'm surprised you've played this game long enough to know about cube hunter but don't know about Gallery Priest or Razakus. Allow me to fill you in.
Gallery priest wasn't as much a straight up otk deck, but it had the capacity to do so if things lined up correctly. The deck ran Velen for that reason. If you played Zerek's Cloning Gallery and hit Prophet Velen, Malygos, and 1 or 2 Radiant Elementals, then you could easily kill your opponent with Mind Blasts and Holy Smites. You could also get the otk with Greater Diamond Spellstone. Again, the deck wasn't completely reliant on the otk, but it ran all those cards (excluding the elementals) specifically for it, and whether you consider it a proper otk deck or not it's still a meta deck that ran Velen.
Razakus (Raza + Kazakus) Priest abused the interaction between Raza the Chained and Shadowreaper Anduin's hero power. At the time Raza made your hero power cost 0 instead. The hero power deals 2 damage and refreshes whenever you play a card, so making it cost 0 makes it kind of broken. Velen affects your hero power, so when velen gets on the board each card does 4 extra damage. Throw in Radiant Elemental, Mind Blast, Holy Smite, and the fact that you can get extras of those from Shadow Visions, and the damage piles up pretty quick.
Yep jarraxus should become a real hero like dr.boom/hagatha so not a demon/can't be killed with a simple sac pact. +X armor and no modification of life total
Totally agree. If the player can become the card, then it should reclassify as a hero. Zeph will always be around in Wild. So effectively, Mr. J will never see play there again. That’s not right for a Classic card.

Most Classic cards are weaker than expansion cards. That's how the game has always worked. Yes there are exceptions, but it's totally fine if Jaraxxus isn't one of those exceptions.
If you are dead-set on using this outdated card, you should probably also use some albatross and hope for the best.
I definitely feel like he should be fixed to not die to sac pact. that has always been a weird interaction to me but I'm actually happy that Zephrys gives you the pact if your opponent is Jaraxxus, that means that this card really evaluates as much info from the game as possible and gives you the perfect card you need for each situation. I also like the skill behind using Zephrys, like the difference of playing him on curve, or with low mana or at the beggining or end of the turn or before/ after trading and small details like that.
There is no skill behind Zeph. The card 9 times out of 10, gives you a nearly perfect answer to a grand majority of boards. Skill would be teching in an arcane explosion as a mage, if zoolock was super popular.

Velen is the worst classic class legendary in standard. He should be buffed instead.

The Murlocs are also upset with Zephrys - he always gives a player up against a Murloc Hungry Crab.
The problem isn't Jar Jar, its that god damn blank-ing Genie. Someone should him back into his bottle.

Here is my idea:
Lord Jaraxxus should remain a minion, but it's should keep the incresed HP (from Soul Infusion, Void Analyst, etc) after played.
Card text: Battlecry: Replace your hero with Lord Jaraxxus. Equip a 3/8 weapon.
I like the Sacrificial Pact interaction, but it's too easy with Zephrys. It's just should replace Jaraxxus with the original warlock hero.
Wouldn't it be better just to adjust the Zephrys algorithm to no longer give you Sacrificial Pact against Jarraxus?

It is so difficult fix Sacrificial Pact making not work on hero? Mister J is not a minion anymore but a hero when used.

Surely just removing Sac-Pac from Zephrys wish-list solves this whole problem?
I mean, nobody runs the actual card in any decks that I know of.

Blizzard, please allow me to play Jaraxxus.
He’s fine. Buffs are bad, it’s been proven so move on.

A .gif is worth a thousand words.
The debate seems to be more about whether that interaction is actually a problem. I personally don't think it is.

Jaraxxus is a standalone card deck archetype, which is not playable due to Zephrys the Great and Sacrificial Pact.
Jaraxxus archetype is not overpowered, I think there is no person, which don't like play against it.
Blizzard need to fix just one card interaction without seemingly nerfing it, to make whole archetype playable again.
