Year of __________ has NOTHING to do with the cards or themes or expansions or anything other than giving a name to a Hearthstone year.
Doesn't matter. Releasing dragons during year of the dragon is such an obvious thing to do. It's in flavor with the year, dragons are an actual tribe, and in general, people love dragons.
Whoever is designing the cards completely overlooked what the year was going to be called. Unless they themselves don't know until the higher ups ups name it
Look the year doesnt dictate the cards that will get printed but more like the themes, except year of the Kraken which was a crapshoot in the dark due to it being the first standard year, for the other years let's go over them Year of the mammoth: represented Big prehistoric things (un'goro) cold(frozen throne), and MASSIVE dungeons (kobolds and catacombs) because mammoths are massive, prehistoric and live in the cold, and only one mammoth card got printed during this year.
Year of the Raven: represented haunting places where ravens tend hang out (witchwood), Intelligence since Ravens are regarded as the smartest avians by actual scientific communities (Boomsday project), and the Spiritual side that the Ravens are usually associated with with the Champions of Rastakhan rumble summoning the power of their animal based Loas, and only one Raven card got printed over this year, two if you count Ravencaller. because Ravens are haunting, intelligent and often associated with magic and spirituality
Year of the Dragon: so far is represented by an unsurmountable harsh challenge (Draconian) with the leagues of shadows rising during rise of shadows, and the heroes that take on those challenges with the Saviours of Uldum, because Dragons usually represent a massive obstacle on a hero's journey and well a Hero's journey needs one or more heroes.

Well, someone has done his literature homework pretty well. If I were your teacher, you'd have already got an A.
We've been down this dead-end road enough times already. The name of the year has no bearing on what cards are created within that year. As others have stated, it is instead an indicator of the theme for the year and as such, thematic cards are produced that tie in with it.

Again, none of what you said here has anything to do with the reasons behind the names of the years. The obvious path is not always the correct path.
BUT ... for all you literalists out there, I'll go ahead and point out:
is as follows. Due to it being the year of the dragon, and the theme of the teaser, I believe the next expansion will be based off of the Bronze Dragonflight, which has to do with time and whatnot. Not only would this be a perfect way to introduce even more previous villains, but to also retcon the whole year. I also think due to the nature of the year and expansion, we will be seeing a lot of dragons.
However, I would also like to emphasize what was said earlier. The name of the year doesn't necessarily dictate what cards are going to be printed.

If they had year of the Murloc and no Murlocs it would still be a let down to lots of players. Year of the Dragon is turning out to be a missed opportunity. How can you not see this?

Some people just enjoy to be screwed...find reasons to accept anything bad. Why? it's a psycological thing, a bad one...
Sadly priest did not get a single dragon in the year of the dragon.

Tbh the bigger problem is that they released Dragon Speaker and barely anything that synergises with it.
i didnt' see you complaining about there being no Mammoths on the year of the mammoths, you should know better by now.
