Is it really that much easier? Quicker, sure but I'd think most people who struggle with getting to legend struggle with the Diamond 5-1 ranks because of the loss of bonus stars, which mean you have to be far more consistent to get through those 5 ranks and it's much more punishing to have a losing streak.
Yes, it is WAAY quicker. The difference between getting 15 and 25 wins over losses is actually much bigger than it seems, but I am not math savvy enough to prove exactly how much. The mechanic is that you would already be in legend when you previously would reach a peak on rank 2 and then crash down.
Without trying to do too advanced math. A good player, with a 60% WR on his grind to legend will now need on average 75 games to reach legend from d5 (75 games with 60% WR means 45-30 record). In the old system he would need 125 games instead (75-50 record), the difference is quite significant
Done double legend this month, with 10x standard and 9x wild bonuses. After diamond 10 all feel same, standard was full of shamans and rogues (prenerf), wild is 95% secret mages, even more boring. Played mostly Dh to make it golden, had over 75% winrate with aggro in standard and odd in wild. Twin slice and stillstepper is broken 😃
In the month of August there was around 7k legends in wild, began that month with 11 stars bonus after finishing top 200 and decided to rank with a only golden legendaries deck with an incredible 38% winrate in over 300 games. IT took me months to recover my mmr since , finsihed again topo 200 last month and peaked this month at legend 69, but began memeing again and back to top 500 ( tonk hunter is bad in high legend...). In standard I have seen people up to 30k in my friend list. (EU server)
NA is a smaller server, and Asia even smaller. The HUGHE server is China, in both wild and standard they have over 100k legends. There 5 chinese wild legend for 1 wild legend in all the other regions combined.
Im playing on EU server. 2 months ago i ruined my mmr be playing meme deck in legend WILD and i dropped to rank 7.6k in the end before reset.
Since we dont know the % that reach legend, i also cant make any assumptions about how big the playerbase is.
Why does Blizzard keep its a secret? It would be for sure a fun to know..
I mean, when i check sports stats for NHL or NBA its seems in the US ppl are huge fans of statistics...there is just a number for f***ing everything. So why not in HS?
