The only thing wrong with the game is: you simply can't satisfy everyone.
I for one, think warrior is way too strong. It should be nerfed pretty hard for things to change in the meta. I also know other people don't mind warrior being this strong. As long as I don't get what I want, I will hate the game. If warrior gets nerfed, others will hate the game. Simple.
If you think that HS is not interesting to you anymore OP, just take a break. Come back in a month, 6 months or in a year. See if the game has shifted to a direction more to your liking. Personally, I will sit out the next expansion and will not spend any money. At the moment HS doesn't appeal to me as it used to. Only deck I'm currently playing once in a while is Holy Wrath Paladin with Shirvallah, the Tiger, since I have always enjoyed playing combo decks.
Agreed on the mechanics part. Far too much recycled.
Also, I would extend this criticism to deck archetypes.
Overall, it feels like the HS Game design team has been steadily getting worse at their job since Old Gods (Imo). All the cool archetypes and mechanics have been watered down and replaced with less interesting ones for the sake of change. (A great example of this would be Control Warrior, which used to have early game removal but win with pro-active late game legendaries (like ysera, grom etc.) and threats. For the last 2 years, it has been nothing but pure reactive fatigue-style, which is far less interesting to both play and watch). The same is true for virtually all decks, Freeze Mage (which was incredibly fun to play) has been replaced with a board centric Giant Summoning archetype, which is far less fun to play (objectively) and goes completely against mage class identity. You can play the same game with virtually all classes and primary archetypes over the years, progressively either getting worse, or, at the very least, growing stale.
Perhaps this is the natural life-cycle of a card game. Maybe, if we were starting today, the game would feel a lot better and the mechanics/archetypes more interesting. I think, however, the only way to fix this game permanently and prevent it from growing staler and staler is to add new ranked game modes. Perhaps we could have competitive game modes with a lower barrier to entry (Example: Only the most recent expansion + Basic set). Most players don't play Wild because it has such an enormous barrier to entry. It makes no sense to enchant a legendary if you're only going to play it in this one deck and will never have another application for it. Hence, even for most long-term competitive players, wild is not an alternative ranked mode. Therefore, the only way to truly make the game more refreshing imo is to offer an actual alternative ranked gamemode to standard, in which the meta differs significantly and different mechanics/ archetypes are prevalent.
But hey, thats just my two cents. I have been nothing but disappointed with the horrifyingly slow pace at which the development team has introduced new content over the last two years. Maybe the new expansion will be fun to play for the first couple of weeks tho, we'll see.
I can understand that frustration and sadness when it comes to the lack of innovation and change in Hearthstone. I know exactly how that feels like.
However, I disagree with the idea of Hearthstone just being an old game with a limited system and we have already seen all the system is capable of, so now the devs are "doomed" to recycle and repackage old ideas. Card games are quite flexible when it comes to introducing new concepts. There's a reason why some cardgames managed to stick around for much longer than Hearthstone already. When someone here says "what do you expect? It's just a card game", I'm a bit shocked honestly. You can do a lot with a card game, and you can certainly expect more of professional game developers.
I don't know if you can really reinvent the wheel in Hearthstone, but countless people have shown with custom cards that there is plenty of space left to explore, and many of those ideas are within the limits of mechanics we already have, and these can also expand. Just an example: On-draw effects were invented for Flame Leviathan, and just last expansion, we got another version in Aranasi Broodmother. One day, maybe this will be a thing. I once joked that Flame Leviathan would be an interesting card in Warlock these days. Imagine you could maintain board control, healing etc. just by exploiting draw effects like Plot Twist. Not the most "fun and interactive" I suppose, but it's just an example of how new mechanics can lead to new playstyles and decktypes.
I do give the dev team a lot of shit on this website. I cannot count how often I critizised their lack of creativity, their misguided policies, their poor communication, their inconsistent and questionable decisions and much more. But credit where it's deserved: They do have some very talented people working on the game. It rarely and infrequently shows, but I do believe that they are capable of improving the game. It's a different question whether they are willing to.
As for RoS and SoU: For some reason, some guy thought that the Year of the Dragon should be all about nostalgia: Bringing back old mechanics and characters and stuffing them into one plot so that the whole year feels like on big chapter of Hearthstone. I already expect some other returning mechanic for the last expansion of the year as well. Maybe we'll see some more familiar faces like Aya and Kazakus. The number of "Hearthstone Originals" with a bit of personality and popularity is fairly limited.
I don't think this was a great idea, but also not the worst. Maybe it had to do with the 5 year anniversary, so they thought this would be a good time to do it. Oh well, it's another experiment, and we'll see where it goes. But I wouldn't see it as symptomatic, and that we can expect this to happen every year. At least I hope so.
Sometimes it bothers me to think that I might have to wait another 9 months to see the Year of the Dragon end and find out if things are going to change. I am at a point where I probably won't stick around for much longer, and holding out for so long just to see where things go is quite unsatisfying, if you are only a spectator. If anything, it's save to say that as a passionate Hearthstone fan, you need A LOT of patience, and not only because grinding for Gold and Dust goes ridiculously slow.
But that's how it is right now. As for the next expansion: I'm just hoping for a good pack opening, some new cards I can use in my old decks, some entirely new decks, and just having a good time with it. I wish more of the new cards were mechanically more exciting, but maybe actually playing with them will change my mind. When Genn and Baku were announced, I thought "what do you want with a better hero power if you have to give up on some many good cards?". Not only was I super wrong, I also recently had a good time trying to build an Odd Priest, just for the sake of it, and even with some success.
The only thing wrong with the game is: you simply can't satisfy everyone.

Also, warrior should be nerfed.
I feel like this is one of the problems with the hearthstone community, you're calling for the entire class of warrior to get nerfed, in an ideal meta i'd assume everyone would want all classes to have tier 1 decks. If you have a problem with a specific warrior deck then you should call for a deck (like i assume your problem is with control warrior) to be nerfed.
There is absolutely no problem with hearthstone right now from the devs perspective. If you're not aware, it's listed 9th in the highest income from all existent games in April 2019. As long as people are throwing money at it, don't expect Actiblizzion to make a change.
Even if there was something wrong with hearthstone, whatever your effort is to move things in a direction or another, think of it's futility.
Guys, I think we've managed to talk quite a bit about this, and I think I made my point clear. No need to begin talking about nerfing and warriors, and how ppl complain every expansion. I just wanted to say that hs could be a lot better. I just wanted to see how many of you agree with me. And I was happy to find so many ppl that wish the best for hs. In other words, please don't get me wrong, hs is an amazing game, just that it could be better( as everything can be!). Love ya all and cya in the tavern. (SoU hypeeeeee)

Golden heroes: Warlock, Druid, Mage, Hunter
