What do you think about Rase vs Purple on Grandmasters yesterday? I personally think it was really suspicious with blizzard rules but also very funny lmao.
So for those who don't know. Rase vs Purple was a warrior mirror match (those typical boring matches). After 1 hour game, Rase was close to dying as Purple hits Rase face with some damage. Rase was gonna take fatal fatigue damage next turn giving the win to Purple.
Just after Purple ended his turn, he got up his chair to celebrate for his win but the turn timer hit, destorying both heroes and ending up in a tie. Casters took a break to sort that out (probably because Purple was really pissed off lol) and after 10 min, the game was back live. That game was regarded as 1-1 , basically a draw.
Next game Rase was having bad luck, but in my opinion with some good topdeck he could have turned the game tide. But just as i thought that, Rase disconnected, never to connect back again. So they waited and waited but Rase never came back. Purple took the win and 3d place, backing Rase out of the tournament at 4th place. Was it rage? Was anyone Scamazed? So suspicious. What do you guys think?
I felt really bad for Purple after they called it a tie. I think production even put The "winner" graphic up on him at first.
Game 2 totally looked like a rage quit to me. But who knows. Glad Purple walked away the winner though. It would have been absolutely horrble if he lost game 2.
Yeah chat was spamming “spam this turtle to unscam Purple” and we’re convinced they had successfully rigged the match when Rase disconnected. Pretty funny all around imo. Like who would have thought a warrior mirror would be decided by just 1 game?
@Jbaited after Purple should have won game one I was rooting for him all the way in game two. It made it really exciting when Purple drew a fairly aggressive hand (by warrior standards at least) and almost killed him right away. I think if that game had continued Rase would have stabilized but been at a large health deficit going into fatigue, but we’ll never know.
Are you saying the game ended because it went past 45 turns?
If that's the case, it's a draw, fair and square. Everyone knows the rules. If you can't close out the game by turn 45, you don't deserve a win,
yes but he was just about to die right that turn. In moral standards Purple should have won, because it was logical. But game standards are different. This means Blizzard should really consider putting visible turn counters in their games to avoid these situations/confusions
WTF are you people talking about, the "moral standards"? It's a game . . . with rules.
I thought the rule was, whoever had the most health (plus armor) at the turn limit won the game, but if they have changed it to the draw timer resulting in a draw, then there you go. If there was a change, it was the correct result, if there wasn't, it wasn't.
As for disconnecting, that's a pretty straightforward end state. Purple wins.
What is the controversy here?

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
Rule book states - In the event of a tie game in a BO3, it is considered a win to both players UNLESS the match score is 1-1, in which case the win is awarded to the player with the highest life total (including armour).
The fact that Rase would have died if there was another turn is irrelevant, because there was not another turn. Follow?
Not "suspicious" but IMO, these rules aren't very good. Just because Blizzard wrote them down doesn't make them fair
For one thing, the fact that it's ruled differently depending on whether or not it's a decider match makes no sense. And case in point, when one guy would have had lethal on turn 46, it's not really fair to say the game was undetermined. These rules didn't have an impact on the series outcome this time but if purple lost the second game, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a riot on r/hearthstone over this

No, they are fair precisely because they are written down. If anyone disagreed with the rules, the time to bring it up was before the tournament. Since no one did that, everyone implicitly agreed to the rules.
If they wanted "having lethal" to be a part of the determination, they would have written that into the rule.
Just because it's an extreme corner case that no one believes will ever happen, that does not invalidate the rule. That's actually why such rules exist -- so people will know what to do when the weird stuff happens.
If you don't like it, you can campaign to get the rules changed, but it is not correct to say this result was unfair or to ask for it to be invalidated.

I feel the only reason this is even being debated is because Purple is a fan favourite. If it were the other way round and Purple had heroically and desperately clung on to his remaining 6 points of life until the turn limit was reached, everyone would be applauding his calculated defensive plays and be happy that it was declared a tie game. The game was a draw as per the rules that every player who was invited to the event should have read before agreeing to, therefore there is nothing more to discuss.

actually I don't like the guy constantly playing with hair just to show off. I don't like hs tournaments that much either. I just found it funny how everything went to chaos for 10 minutes until they sorted it out. Also i found it weird how Rase disconnected and didn't even comment about it.

I’m 99% sure that Purple playing his hair isn’t showing off, it’s actually a nervous habit. While some people might tap their feet or drum their fingers to relieve tension, Purple instead messes with his hair. You can’t blame him for being nervous when money is on the line. He was competing for a spot in playoffs after all.
As for your second point is did seem a bit suspicious. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rase was frustrated by the tie in game 1 followed by getting smorced so hard in game 2. Maybe he just pulled his Ethernet cable to end his own suffering.

If anything, I would have thought Purple was a fan ... unfavorite? There was some time ago where he won a series in prelims top 8 and proceeded to call his opponent a bad player in the winner's interview after the casters told him about the opponent's mulligan and asked for his thoughts. To be fair, the mulligan was very questionable, but he straight up called the player bad for that decision. It caused some fun controversy
He can come off as pretty arrogant or full of himself on stream too. Personally I don't dislike him but I imagine a lot of people probably do

Nothing suspicious or controversial about it. Odd result to two games back to back sure but nothing wrong with it.
The tie ruling is something they've talked about before and it's nothing new. Rase died as soon as he drew a card on turn 46 but there is no turn 46.
The disconnect is unfortunate but that's on Rase.
Purple was going to win the second game almost surely.
