So I was wondering... at the beginning, even before the Druid Quest was released, I thought that Reno Jackson would be another Warrior class and Elise would be the Mage one.... but then something triggered:
If Reno Jackson is a Mage.... then where his powers come from???
Here I will Present the 5 points that make Real this Theory!!!
1 - Few days ago I've watched an amazing video from Hearthstone Mathematics about some possible Expansion Speculation for the Saviors of Uldum. at the end of this video: (New Hearthstone Expansion: Great Investigation of Uldum. Expansion Speculation.) like around the 4:38 minute, start a nice speech about the storytelling that Blizzard wants to achieve with the Year of the DRAGON. In the video they point out the third expansion of this year and they mention the possibility of having a big Dragon cause of the Flame colors shown at the beginning of the year (Year of the Dragon) and they assume that we are talking about DEATHWING.... no, it doesn't sounds right....
So I've make some researches and I started to connect all points.... Reno Jackson-MAGE-YEAR OF THE DRAGON....
2 - Especially when you have played WOW or, as i did, watched this video (Warcraft Lore Facts - The Bronze Dragonflight) you will have noticed that actually exist a particular tipe of dragon that likes a lot GOLD and also play with the SAND....
THE BRONZE DRAGONS
If you watch the video that I've insert here above about the "Bronze Dragonflight" many times they refer to a War called the WAR of the Shifting SAND (minute 0:30) and the picture they use to present such a moment of the WOW history, is quite similar to the image presented into the Cinematic Trailer of Hearthstone SOU at the minute 0:20, full of golden Scarabs.
3 - there is a nice Thread on Reddit that actually say more or less the same things i'm writing here, just pointing out less details or EASTER EGGS (Reddit RENO BRONZE DRAGON) and they point out the picture of "One Night in Karazhan" when in the tub we see Reno, a murloc, a cow and The Curator that is bomb diving...... wait wait wait... a man a cow and a murloc in a tub together...... and the curator???? The Curator is suppose to add to your hand a dragon, a murloc and a beast, not a human archaeologist. And how Reno Jackson knows Medivh, the Guardian. Basically we are missing a dragon in the tub....
4 - If you take a look at the video "Hearthstone Card Origins: Reno Jackson's Lore, History and Impact" and you focus on what the narrator says at the minute 1:19, he will describe Reno Jackson as "...is a bit more concerned with the quest for treasure than for the pursuit of knowledge..." and he mention at first the Shining Ruby than the fact that they have found the Golden Monkey it-self.
5 - try to mention his outfit.... here's a high definition pict for those who do not see well (RENO JACKSON). Not only each character of the League of the Explorers has a distinctive color in the Artwork that shows you immediately to which class they belong: Reno Jackson = blue, Brann Bronzebeard = green (especially on the clothes.... watch it better in the artwork of the SOLO Adventure), Elise Starseeker = brown and Sir Finley Mrrgglton = yellow/golden.
And not only... he has a Necklace with what it seems to be a Dragon Claws or some sort of beast tooth or claws.... isn't it weird???
So to resume:
1 - Reno is the new Hero of the Mage Class of Hearthstone SOU
2 - the SOU cinematic Trailer seems a lot like the WAR of the SHIFTING SAND
3 - Reno is in the tub with a murloc and a beast... the Curator draws you a murloc a beast and a DRAGOOOOON!!!
4 - Dragon loves GOLD and Reno cares only about the Treasures
5 - the artwork of Reno is BLUE and his outfit has is composed also by a claw/tooth necklace
I don't know why people are obsessed with Reno being a Dragon. People see what they want to see.
Imo there is no way blizzard gives Reno the same gimmick as Kazakus. Kazakus is secretly a Dragon so Reno can't be, simple as that, they want unique characters.
I think Nozari is probably the culprit. Giving Nozari a power that is almost exactly the same as Reno Jackson ends up causing people to draw comparisons and parallels.
even nefarian was presented us in HS as a human... actually, cause i have never played WOW, i didn't know about his dragon form till he transformed at the end of the BRM Solo Adventure
it's not really cause of nozari.... all this thing actually came up to my mind only watching many things that suddently were going into the same directions...
It's a good theory, I like the Curator part from the ONiK trailer. But Reno being the Mage themed character is a stupid reason to believe it, him and Finley are only the Mage and Paladin because thematically there was no other 'Defender' class to choose from. That's why they gave him a magic, crystal gatling gun and Finley a golden club & beetle steed.

I think a lot of humans share that, in fairness! :-)
It seems odd that a dragon would get into so many dangerous situations and never assume dragon form to, say, burn Rafaam to a crisp.

probably not true but I love reading into people's theories.
It's a good theory, I like the Curator part from the ONiK trailer. Love theory in HS, gg.
Beyond the game
Reno is actually the Tree of Life
You were right! ^^
Lol, the theory was so insane then and look at it now.
I wonder when did blizzard decide that he is a dragon, before the theory came up or after.
Haha, look at all the nay-sayers now. Was quite a surprise.
Oop
Not a bronze dragon, but this theory is truer than it had any right to be. What a weird world we live in.
They can't be folks, simple as that.
If you thought you knew what you think I know, then you'd know I knew you knew I know.
they did it. they really did it.
Wished to be pink.
Then did.
Then fired myself.
Then did again.
Now it makes sense why Brian Kibler loves Reno so much.
It all comes together.
