Deciding to close HearthPwn, along with a handful of other community websites, wasn’t an easy decision for our company, but we could no longer justify the substantial engineering resources it took to run the properties. It was a sad day in our office when we announced the sunsetting of many beloved sites.
Previously, we weren’t able to entertain selling the sites because they were built on a proprietary platform. It would be a monumental task for an external engineering team to maintain or migrate the communities. Knowing this, we announced the site closures, but just as the sun slowly began to set for these properties, a figure appeared . . .
As of this week, we’ve identified a company with the necessary experience to buy and run these sites (including HearthPwn), so that the passionate communities will continue to have homes on these long-standing sites. With this, we have started to transfer the sites to Magic Find. As for the staff on these sites, it will be up to them and Magic Find to decide how they’d like to move forward.
This isn’t the end for HearthPwn. It’s a new and exciting beginning. We wish Magic Find the best as we say goodbye to several of the properties that helped our company grow into what it is today.
This will be the last update from Curse/Fandom. All future communications will be from the new site owner.
My first instinct was to think it's great news because it means that Hearthpwn stays alive, but now I see how bad this is for the people involved in outofcards, which are the people that have worked the hardest for Hearthpwn itself.
In terms of the future of Hearthpwn, I can't really tell, it's the first time I hear about Magic Find.
Wow that's a complete disregard from Curse of everyone who worked so hard on Hearthpwn before all this. Making you feel like crap by telling you (and the community) that the site was closing down, leading to the creation of OutofCards. Are they that blind in not seeing that this was going to be a conflict of interest? Or are they that greedy that they saw that they had the potential to make a bit of revenue? I'm sorry to anyone on the Hearthpwn team who has had to go through this rollercoaster.
Hearthpwn won't be the same and will quickly be obsolete if it isn't already.
Heartpwn currently has no mods effectively, so go nuts.
But aren't you here?

yeah I agree 100%. The mods have made this site what it is, if the big corporate boys want to go ahead and try and keep Hearthpwn, they can, because it will never be the same without the mods.
What a load of old shit. This may be my last post on the site. I will be heading to where those who built this community and brought us this experience continue to do so. If they wanted to change ownership, it should have been handled in a way that respected those who built what the site is.

So go there. A lot of people are throwing support behind Flux and the mods but that site doesn't have a lot of activity compared to what we had on here. It's a good start on their site but way behind what the activity was here before the announcement of closure happened.
If you all want to show support to Flux and the crew.. go there. Participate.
*Site will continue with new people* = more outrage
Sorry, I don't get this, even though the story of the Fluxflashor/Curse/Fandom relations, a potential site takeover and the launch of his Flux' own site is a very long and complicated one.
You can say whatever you want about lacking support from Curse and how the activity of this site has gone down for the last few years, but the truth is it is that these forums are a goldmine of hearthstone history with several heavily invested users, like myself.
I can see nothing negative about this site continuing, and I am more than willing to give the new staff a chance.

You're not wrong in the fact that this site is a gold mine. It's also where I first got my feet wet in the hearthstone community.
However I believe most of the outrage is probably coming from the fact that Flux did try to see about buying hearthpwn to keep it alive and them at the time saying it wasn't up for sale, only to turn around and sell it anyways.
I'm of the opinion it was a dick move, however I see no reason to hold that against the new staff coming in. For the mean time I will probably float between the two sites until a time comes when (or if) I find one suits my needs more for why I'm on these forums to begin with.
However I do wish the new staff all the best and hope they manage to keep things thriving here.

I mean, judging by the amount of new posts and threads, ever since the announcement that hearthpwn was closing the site has gotten significantly less active. If this new company doesn't change much soon the website will probably die pretty soon anyway.

outof.cards is already the new HearthPwn. Any chance they did this because they realized there was competition/a market?
They realized they could get money instead of not getting money and found someone who would like to milk ad revenue.

I will go to where most of the Mods/staff go. They are beating heart of Hearthpwn. The community will follow. (at least those worth keeping around).

No mods “ everyone go crazy “
Not for long. Plus they probably won't be happy that i leaked this. Hi guys!

My current disaster-piece
Hearthpwn is but a framework, a shell, a hosting site. Without the community, there is no Hearthpwn.
That said, I plan to break from Hearthpwn and go strictly to outofcards. Come join me!
Yes I am promoting outofcards as the better forum and place to discuss games. https://outof.cards/
Just in case you missed that, the site is Out of Cards, the url is https://outof.cards/, and you can click HERE to go right there.
no mods, no problem.
edit: link also in my signature.
