After endlessly losing to the chapter 3 boss, I eventually managed to get a very cheesy victory using Golden Candle, which completely destroys the value of his hero power.
Has anyone managed to beat him without resorting to that strat? Nothing I tried to do seemed to be able to keep up with the free deathrattle minion every turn, and the Dalaran Streets mechanic encourages you to go tall, not wide, which means you get heavily punished by Jepetto's free Spider Bomb and Sylvanas Windrunner.
I managed to beat it picking a thief Rogue with Emerald Goggles, though I got really lucky with draws and Wondrous Wisdomball actually helped me multiple times.
I played against him using deck with permanent stealth bonus. Then I traded all his big minions and when his board was all 1/1s I just outraced him going face.
I've beaten it using Priest with the treasure "Elistra the Immortal" and a ton of buff cards. The idea was to buff Elistra during the run multiple times, make it a beefy 90/90 taunt + divine shield monster and then drop it early so that the boss can't contest it. I admit I got lucky, but that worked, and, more importantly, it was a super-fun run :)
Got him yesterday with a big shaman featuring spell damage +3 and a twin candle. I suggest you don’t really do nothing until you have enough resources to put up a fight. He deals 4 damages every turn, tank that up and then start going big until his deathrattles have very low impact on the board. I won’t deny though that this chapter is much harder than the previous ones in heroic
He's very tough. I beat him on Heroic in previous chapters but not yet for Chapter 3. The four minion limit really makes this chapter more challenging than previous ones since most of the OP treasures you get requires board space to be used effectively.
Edit: I'm too stupid to quote. I'll write it out instead.
I beat him with Elistra the Immortal as well. I got it to start in my hand and be invisible (with the cloak of invisibility passive), both of which were absolutely necessary. Jepetto drew Houndmaster Shaw into Sylvanas, which would've kinda wrecked my strat.
The easiest way to beat the dungeon is with the 7/7 for 4 mana that transform all to legendary minions, that fuck the opponent deck and its like a free win
I beat him on 2nd try with a Thief Rogue deck. I had the stealth passive and the restore 2 health to all characters To top it of I won the game with Hakkar. His deck was a lot thinner than mine so when I got Hakkar from some random generator card which I cant remember I decided to play for board control and put my money on the blood plan. It worked.
I managed it with Shaman, rush on all minions + minions cost one less. I can't stress how broken every minion having rush is combined with unstable evolution. Between that, the echo murloc and the candles, he couldn't get anything to stick, and he eventually ran out of cards.
Kripp's solution is quite interesting - I avoided using the deathrattle anomaly as it benefits Jepetto, but Kripp's strat is to just outvalue him by having the treasure that lets his own deathrattles trigger twice. Robes of Gaudiness is utterly amazing in almost any strat, allowing him to pick up a lot of serious value cards.
In the end, the AI throws the game by unnecessarily using Doom Pact and torching too much of its deck
Beat him with thief rogue using the anomaly that gives 10 hallucinations

There is no path. Beyond the scope of light, beyond the reach of Dark... ...what could possibly await us? And yet, we seek it, insatiably... Such is our fate.
Impressed, there seems to be a mix of cheesy/one-trick pony strategies and strategies that can outvalue him.
- use Cloak of Invisibility (or just tank damage until you can make a monstrous board at once), gum up Jepetto's board with 1/1s and then race him
- pick up Golden Candle and ruin his deck
- pick up Elistra the Immortal early, make it massive (and hope he doesn't draw Spider Bomb or Sylvanas before you kill him)
- use the deathrattle anomaly and the Totem of the Dead, try to outvalue with quality deathrattles
- outvalue using echo minions and unstable mutation in combination with Expedite and Rocket Backpacks
The cloak of invisibility strategy sounds very consistent to me - it's not hard to pick up and it sounds like you make his brutal value advantage into something that cripples him. If he's got four 1/1s in play and they can't trade into anything, he's going to be pretty helpless in a race against a bunch of mid sized stealth men.
I think I just beat him with a priest with tons of big minions and the power that makes everything above 5 cost 5. Just massive after massive minions after t5 and he ran out of options in the end
Just beat him without Cloak of Invisibility or any other counters (I had the Golden Candle but never drew it the whole game). I beat him by just ignoring his minions and going face. For some reason, he stupidly decided to keep going face too - but my minions had more damage so I beat him eventually. Not clearing his minions is key - so don't put down any taunts either.

Nope, very strong

Here how Kripp beat him

Dr7 its back!

Check out my entrant for the WCDC 9.12: Bilgewater Highroller
I got there by milling him. Just let him fill his bord with small stuff, tank the damage for a couple turns and go wide once you are ready!
Or just pick cloak and start the big minion chain as soon as possible

Will have to try some of these out :)
Beat him in stealth mode as well. His first four minions did 7 damage in total. Mine did a lot more and made this an easy with after dozens of tries.
Yeah, had that treasure for “random dk power”. Luckily got warrior one (1 dmg aoe to all minions) and the rest wasnt that hard.
Best card in HS? Mastercard.
