6 times within the last year including twice this month i have been 1 win away from legend. the last three have been against my worst matchup possible at that point in the meta with my opponents having unreal mulligans and rng. I know this probably belongs on the salt forum but holy cow do i feel like I've deserved to hit legend at least one of these times. I'm not someone who gets easily frustrated by a single loss when i'm so close but why every time has it had to be against my worst matchups? Give me a good matchup for once blizzard on the final boss....please.
I know that feeling... Happened to me a long time ago when I used to play freeze mage, and warrior was a 1% winrate matchup. And I just faced only CW at rank 1 whilst there wasn't so much war in the meta ...
Last month, with zoolock, I faced the final boss six, yes SIX times!! But keep going, you'll get there. This month was waaay better, only faced the final boss twice.
We are on the same train. I was 2 stars away to legend, then, be it bad luck or "you know nothing", I was fallen to Rank 4 and sitting there. I will focus on and do my best next month, you should better take your chances next month if you want.
What's worse, it would be my first legend after four years, had I reached there :(
Sounds like you need therapy to overcome this terrible experience you've had. It's located in the salt thread and they are happy to accept your rant over there. No need to think you are special and can go against the rules here.
I finally hit legend just about an hour ago with mech paladin. earlier today i lost 4 in a row after being at 5 stars. then i won 6 out of 7 after that. I feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders in this game.
Congrats! I pushed for legend once, made it to rank 2, and then after reset to rank 14 or whatever I decided it wasn't ever worth trying again. Real life is more important, but man I wish I had gotten it.

There you go. Congratulations! Your persistence was rewarded and doesn't it feel great?
Unfortunately you usually have to weather out the roller coaster of the 3-1 or 1-legend for a bit before hitting legend. That was what happened with me during my legend climb. Even had to take down an Odd Pally as my final boss (pre Even Shaman nerf) with my Reno Dragon Priest, who was able to sustain pressure the entire game long (dealing over 60 damage to my face and requiring me to make risky plays to barely survive before pulling off my win, such as Alexing my face when they had over 10 damage on board with multiple cards in hand). You just have to stick it out for awhile. Once you do that you'll know you deserve it after the persistent time and effort is kept consistent during your grind.
People have a tendency to be drawn toward negative outliers, so it's best to focus on gameplay and trust that your decision making will carry you to legend.
Odds are, you've probably hit more walls at ranks other than 1 from legend, but dont notice because it's not... 1 win from legend. Odds are you've broken those "tougher" barriers without even noticing. Your mindset is going to cause a mental block which may tilt you in winnable games to not weigh options properly, or make non-optimal decisions.
Change your mindset, dont worry about the rank. You've been almost legend so many times, you're obviously basically a legend calliber player. Focusing on hitting legend is just subjective. Focus on your own gameplay and legend will come with it.
This is the same mentality advice I've given Lol players who get close to diamond, but cant quite push through their series. It works.

i hate playing against warriors, dr boom needs to be nerfed
Yeah rank 1 5 stars 3 Times and falling Back to rank4 IS pure tilting. Usually i end My climb at this point and have "fun" with off meta decks..
Hey I'm usually the type of guy that would reply something like ''get good bruh'' but I kinda feel bad for you actually.
I hope you make it soon and finally have RNG in your favor against final boss. Good luck
