Who else thinks the game has become too bloated and Blizzard too greedy, and would like the option to have the classic HS as it was on release? I guess the balance issues back then could be fixed but other than that I'd really enjoy just logging on every now and then to play the good old decks I used to.
I started playing HS during beta and I remember it was really fun once you really got to know all the typical decks and collected the cards. The best point was that it was free to play. You earned gold and got your card packs. Today it's pay to win. It would take an eternity to collect everything and to be honest, personally I wouldn't even want to. It's not the game I remember anymore.
I know I'm not alone, but on this forum I might get some hate for this. I guess I just wanted to make this opinion visible again. Blizzard should consider it. Some of us can't spend the money or time to keep up with their expansions and stuff. And some of us just miss how it used to be.
Why? just why? sure, u might enjoy it for a couple of days, but then it basically ends up being a battle of who draws the better curve, and I personally think that with the current classic card set, hunter and rogue are really gonna dominate the ladder.

I think we rather need some form of guild/lobby system where you can play the game the way you want with your friends. Because for example I wouldn't be interested in that, but I'm sure some others might enjoy it. So you could go ahead and make such a guild/lobby and invite people to see if they're interested in it. Maybe with an option to make it public, but if everyone can do that everything might get flooded so it's probably better to stick with invite-only. Just like with the current group system in the client. But that in-game with some options to customize the game to your preferred playstyle. That's what we need.
A couple of things. First, Rose Tinted Glasses are not usually a good thing. The Vanilla Hearthstone you remember almost certainly won't be what it really is like.
Also, there are plenty of Classic Cards that have been Nerfed over the years to make them fit with newer sets and strategies. This would make them straight up worse in game without those sets and strategies.
Secondly, it's still Free To Play as far I'm aware? Sure if you start playing now you are at a disadvantage compared to someone who's been playing for 4 years. But that's the same in everything. Also, you still had to buy Classic Packs if you wanted to get ahead in OG Hearthstone. Exactly the same as it is now.
Unless this is just a thinly veiled 'This game is P2W Bollocks' Thread? But it doesn't feel like that...

You can do that right now. Agree with your friends to play Classic cards only and invite them to battle. Done.
ahhhhhhh that unbeatable druid turn 1 InnervateCoinChillwind Yeti aahhhhh memoriiizizzzzz (pls no nobody needs 14/10 t2 Edwin VanCleef that was fun for sure but then no it was not)
No, I'd be bored within a day. Nice idea for a Tavern Brawl though. Think there was a similar one were you could only play basic and classic cards (or was it just basic?), but without unnerfed cards.
but seriously though i think that the majority people right now dont need or want classic/vanilla mode.
and classic mode shouldnt be made just because you dont like the game right now it should be made so people can enjoy what used to be vanilla hearthstone (though i highly doubt people would enjoy classic hearthstone)
not only classic and vanilla...the first 3-or-so expansions were good it started getting worse after gadgetzan I'd say and plummeted in KoFT...I enjoyed KoFT, but it just wasnt good for the game with the DKs
This is the sort of thing where the need a sort of seasonal tavern brawl something that lasts a whole month has a ladder but is on top of the normal weekly tavern brawl. Then you could do a whole month of classic hearthstone with the cards in the state they were post-beta/pre-naxx. This would give people a chance to try what HS was like back then for a month. You could then do other month long formats.
The existence of this thread worries me. How many times have people complained about a stale meta 2 months after an expansion has been released? Or because the previous year was too powerful, and not a massive amount changes over the course of a year?
Now imagine nothing ever changed, and it had been the exact same game for the last 4 years, and imagine how many threads moaning that Blizz is lazy and the game needs new content.
I think the WoW vanilla servers will prove to be a mistake in the long term, amd I think any vanilla Hearthstone would be a much bigger mistake.

I'd say vanilla wow WILL change at some point, since playing the same shit over and over for a couple of years is the definition of insanity
feel free to ask any chinese gamer who did play tbc for almost two extra years while everyone was playing wotlk (they had troubles releasing wotlk in china because of all the bones and stuff like that)
but also there are insanely popular russian private wotlk realms, where people raid icc for almost 10 years and don't get bored of it. people are strange, you know

As I said I'm not interested in that idea in particular. But yes you could do that in this way. But it also would be much better if we had some real social features in the game to organize that. And moreover there is much more that could be implemented with such a system. For example more starting health, mana, cards in deck, what cards can go into a deck, hero powers, etc. And that is certainly not something you can do right now. But I guess that wasn't really the point here... so my bad, sorry. It still would be better to find like-mined people. Or perhaps it might be important there that it's more "automatic". You create such a lobby/guild and all your friends (but only them to not have like 1 million in a giant list) can see that. And if you see something you like join in. Because I'm not going to go through my friends list asking who likes to play Shudderyogg. And even the current groups in the client I'm part of are not very active. It would be really nice to have such a feature in the game. If someone is afraid of trolling and such it's probably for the best to make it optional. I think some better social features like guilds/lobbies would be a great addition to the game.

Added a poll ;)

Maybe a good idea for a Tavern Brawl during the HS anniversary week, but a new game mode? That's to much

4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔
Can't you remember how bored everyone used to get in Vanilla?
Please don't tell my girlfriend about my card collection...
You can do that right now. Agree with your friends to play Classic cards only and invite them to battle. Done.

How about a mode where you can’t play any vanilla cards at all?
No, I'd be bored within a day. Nice idea for a Tavern Brawl though. Think there was a similar one were you could only play basic and classic cards (or was it just basic?), but without unnerfed cards.

There’s no need for whole other game.
They can just make it a Tavern Brawl mode, no need to make it its whole seperate game.
