I have only played some hours (have completed chapter 1 and 2 and beat once with every of the 3 classes) and here are my thoughts on why I think Dalaran Heist is the best adventure/whatever its called.
1. Difficulty - Why do I hear "dungeon run last bosses too op" or "rumble run shrines trash or op" and now people say "dalaran heist too easy". I haven't had any rng bull crap on my runs against the different bosses and that's great in my opinion. I haven't gone to heroic yet so I don't know if things are different there. And also I do like that AI missplays. It's like normal game, you think you will lose but your opponent makes a missplay and it costs them the game. Maybe the missplays shouldn't be THAT missplay like but I wouldn't like to be facing 100% perfect counter plays. Imagine if rumble run or dungeon run bosses had 100% AI lvl?
2. Achievements - Oh boy do I love this. What I was hoping from rumble run is to have check marks on which shrines you have won with but no. Non visible achievement doesn't give me anything. This time however not only you get a check mark on completing a run with a class, you also need to complete them with different decks/hero powers AND you need to do them on all chapters and heroic too. Some people will hate this, but YOU CANNOT SAY THERE IS NOT ENOUGH CONTENT TO DO
3. Bartender Bob - Best part for me lol. I like the system that sometimes you maybe don't pick anything or you can make your game plan totally different by adding a +2/+2 buffed 1 drop to your every starting hand or getting the enemy board full of random minions to your deck or delete your worthless cards from the deck. And it takes you away from the "tension". You are with bobby having a good time!
4. Dungeon Run 2.0 - People have pretty much said nothing is as good as og dungeon run but I think dalaran heist got ahead of it. It keeps the core mechanic but adds so much more versatility with the hero power change, deck start change, bartender bob and the different twists on each chapter.
5. Golden Zayle, Shadow Cloak - New players love this (altho you gotta buy the stuff first) and so does any whizbang loveers!
Of course you kinda can't compare Dalaran Heist to others cause you pay money/gold to get, everything else is free content but still, worth the money in my opinion. Don't know if worth the gold but worth the money definitely. I have never bought adventures with gold. Free stuff of course would be more nice since the past year single player content has been free but what can you do. As long as people are buying it, they won't make it free again. Are you willing to not buy the thing to send a message to Blizzard?
Maybe I should have played more and through all current content before giving my opinion/wait till all 5 chapter released but I have seen a few threads where people aren't that happy so I decided to give something positive instead! Looking forward to the future chapters.
In the end if I could rank all the single player content we have gotten in the past year it would be something like
1. Dalaran Heist (dungeon run 2.0) 2. Puzzle Lab (basically no rewards/replayability but I loved everything of it and one of the best experiences I have had) 3. Dungeon Run 4. Monster Hunt (basically toki) 5. Rumble Run (too much rng etc)
I'll admit, I was first disappointed beacuse I wanted a lot more...story. I wanted to see more interaction between the villians, a bit like what you saw from League of Adventures, or little neat things like "NO!, You're turn is OVER! My turn now!" or the like. I also liked the banter that showed up occasionally from that brawl involving the Rumble Run competitors in the first week. Overall I was picturing some full story and banter similar to the trailer.
Well I'm an oldy that came from the days of Starcraft watching them use the in game mechanics to tell the story in the meanwhile. I miss that, and the trailers told me that they CAN do it.
After a while of playing it.. I still would love the dialogue, but I do admit the gameplay was fun, especially once I got to the last boss, which was a fun puzzle I only JUST figured out before I got wiped, and heroic, which I haven't figured out and thus am getting wiped. What REALLY helped are the achievements, so that knowing I'm not wasting my time when I fail as I'm still unlocking stuff is still VERY nice.
I realized I liked it when I realized I had 3 quests and had to force myself to play Ranked to complete a quest (and I'm normally happy with Ranked right now as I have a lot of decks to mess with that I enjoy).
So yeah, it didn't fit what I was imagining but I'm all for it and will probably buy the entire set. In the least, I'll buy the second chapter and see how far I'll go.
I really like it too, although I feel like it might get tedious to try and complete Heroic mode with every single deck and hero power (y'know, for the competionists among us)
Other than that there's a lot of replayability. I wasn't bothered at all to play Mage 6 games in a row to win with all the decks and hero powers
happened that i've done all 8 boss first try without any information about them. Is it a rare event? should be hard? I haven't played this mode a lot and hearthstone in general so i have no information.
K&C Dungeon Run was the first, and until this Heist is completed, probably the best of the new format.
The Witchwood is a close second. More refined than K&C, but shorter and how anyone beats the end with certain characters seems to be everyone's problem (for those who didn't luck out or persevere).
Boomsday was imaginative, but sadly a once-and-done. Same with Knights of the Frozen Throne, but have to admit Arthas was the best prize offered since they stopped awarding actual deck cards in solo. Best paladin skin too.
League of Explorers was probably the best of the old-style single-player content, even better than KoFT.
Rumble Run's difficulty went from EZ-mode to WTF IS THIS BS in absurd ways. Worst IMO.

Genearally, the 'normal mode' bosses tend to be easy. If you are used to the game in any real facility then you wouldn't have a problem with them. Heroic is meant to be for folks who actually want to be challenged.
The general so far I'm finding the normal mode to be as easy as the old style content. Heroic mode seems to be harder than dungeon run though I haven't seen how the pros handle it, so I might be wrong and it's all easy.

You get a checkmark for those powers/decks you used to complete the run. So, for example, I completed the first wing with my standard mage power and the standard mage deck and got a checkmark for those. Later on, I decided to play the first wing with the shaman one, using the 1 cost hero power and the second avaible deck and completed them - and got the checkmarks for these.
To get a crown, you only need to finish a run with any power/deck.

Yeah I didn't count the older adventures to this since they are different.
Monster hunt was cool but I didn't like houndmaster or the cannon dude. Toki was really cool and fun and the final battle was creative
What do you mean by “getting a check mark”? Are you getting one AFTER you complete all difficulties with all decks and hero powers with one class?
Whenever you complete a run (defeat all 8 bosses) with a deck+hero power, next time you go to pick your deck+hero power, there will be a check mark under the ones you already beat the run with.
To the topic: i am loving the adventure as well :)
I had hero power twice a turn for 0 with hunter that gave me 1-drops and i also had the hunter quest. I was 100% guaranteed to have early game and to finish my Q on T4 and play Carnassa on T5 every game. It was glorious ...
... until i picked "your minions cost 1-less", thinking i can finish the quest even faster, now that i can play my 1-drops on T1 alongside the quest, until i noticed my quest is not being completed ... cause the minions now didnt cost 1 mana :D yeah, im a goof :D
It is good in the beginning but I will never truly complete it because it require 360 wins or 3,168 bosses (if you lose at a late stage, this number increase drastically)
- 4 wins with each heroes each stage (1 each deck)
- 36 wins each stage in total for all hero
- 8 stages have 8 bosses = 36 * 8 = 288 wins
- 288 wins * 8 bosses = 2,304 bosses
- 2 stages with 12 bosses = 36 * 2 = 72 wins
- 72 wins * 12 bosses = 864 bosses
- 2,304 bosses + 864 bosses = 3,168 bosses
Furthermore, the streamers beat 8 bosses in about 50 minutes (and they were rushing)
So let's say that you beat 8 bosses in 1 hour (60 minutes), then you will TRULY complete the first 4 stages in each mode in 288 hours.
As the bosses get more health in the later round, it will take about the same amount of time to beat bosses 9-12 as bosses 1-8. Therefore, it will take 2 hours to beat the 5th stage of each mode 72 times for completion = 144 hours.
This mean that if you have a total perfect run and win every single time, then you will complete the adventure in 432 hours
But let's be honest... you will most likely fail about 1/3 of the time, especially when trying all the different decks, and you will most likely fail in the later stages where bosses are hard. So we multiply the total hours by 3/2 =648 hours.
Let say you play about 3 hours a day on average over the week (which is impossible when you are grinding literally the same game mode and will be bored) = 216 days (it will be more torturous than school which have 180 days).
But expecting you to win 2/3 of the time is really pushing it. Even pros will have a problem when playing with bad decks and RNG, so you will mostlikely win about 1/4 of the time = 1,728 / 3 = 576 days.
I am also sure that you won't be playing this mode every day for 3 hours, so make it 2.5 years to complete (oh wait, you will have to complete other modes too for gold and stuff!)

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
