I've been playing the game since pre naxx and never been much for the solo content. (Though I can say I really enjoyed LoE and even played it twice.)
I don't fully understand the reasoning behind changing up the adventure concept – imo it was great because of the extended release of cards to the pool and how those few cards changed and shook up the meta as they were sprinkled over time with each new wing.
TL:DR Keeping the game fresh should be a priority, the original adventure format was superior to what we have now in that regard.
If you guys can remember back far enough when Blizzard announced they would be switching to full expansion releases instead of rotating between expansion and adventure they originally stated that the adventure (single player content) would be INCLUDED with the expansions.
Now they are hacking off adventure content so they can once again be charging for expansion and adventure modes. Except this time the adventures don't even introduce new cards. This is straight up and intentional double dipping screwing customers. The original content release format would have 3 new releases per year rotating between adventure/expansion, now that number is increased to 6 times customers are charged.
It's fitting that they call this a Heist because that's exactly what this is.
I'm not happy with it either. I don't really mind the cost. It's a choice for me to make with my gold. I like choices. First wing was free as well, and it wasn't that much different by itself than say Dungeon Run.
My two complaints are these:
1- I was expecting to be able to DC Zale for 1600 dust. I held off buying packs because I was expecting this dust as a reward. It would have been nice if they had said, '... and A golden legenday (not dustable)...' So that I would have been able to make a more informed choice earlier.
2- I wish you could keep progressing with one deck. It would have been a lot more fun for me if the game was geared to be a single run of 400 battles instead of 50 runs of 8. (or whatever the math works out) I understand that the rewards and difficulty would have to be greatly different for such a thing, but I don't get the sense that I'm really building a deck with only 8 battles. It feels too disjointed each run, never really building to a satisfying end.
Dungeon Run got past this disjointed feel a bit because you could sometimes build a functional Jade or C'Thun deck that was satisfying by the 8th battle. It's hard to do something comparable in Dalaran Heist.
Will I get more than 17 hours of play from it? Probably not far off it or way more than that depending on how I feel about it long term. £1 per hour of entertainment for any media is great value imo but I know others may vary.
Is it right of blizzard to do this? Eh probably not but we all should have seen it coming and lots of us are willing to pay monies so this game carries on. (Yes we do realize we are being mugged off, we just like this game a lot ok)
I am no whale but I do feel like the current wallet hits are just this side of ok based on a pre order pack 3x per year and now well made story content as well for under £20 3x per year. So in total about £250 per year ish.
Some people spend that on one night out in London or Brighton and for me it's a years worth of having fun (and salty) moments in this game.
As for is this content good, I am enjoying it so far and have a raft of screenshots from good and bad moments of the first 2 wings, also whilst we are on the subject what is the collective noun for a group of Ragnaros, the Firelord's' does anyone know lol?

The reasoning is very simple, unfortunately. The full expansion releases are a lot more profitable for Blizz - a full adventure you'd spend $20 on no matter who you are, while an expansion the hard-core players will drop easily ten times or more on to get a full card selection (and even the basic pre-order now is $50+). So while the old adventures made it a lot easier for players to stay in the game (with them alternating you had eight months to get all the cards from a "full expansion"), it probably made them a bit less cash in the short run.
You're paying 2800 gold for a legendary. That's pretty fair, that's about how much you would spend in packs to get a specific legendary. I agree that no one in their right mind should spend cash money on this, but the gold cost is fine.
of course, nobody should spend cash money on this or any game for that matter! How dare a person or company think they should be paid for creating anything! Why is it that anyone who buys anything in Hearthstone is just a P2W, whale, stupid or OUT OF THEIR RIGHT MIND? Do you understand that companies exist for one thing and one thing only: PROFIT. At the end of the day, you can take all of your emotional reasoning and failed logic about why corporations do what they do and complain to a wall. You might not have money to buy anything in the game but casting dispersions on people who do is quite immature. Blizzard made this game for one reason only to make a PROFIT. They didn't make the game so you could have everything for nothing in spite of what you feel they should be doing because omg this company has too much money and we deserve free stuff, RIGHT?
I bet you deserve free college and food and housing too, RIGHT?
I am one of those people who are "out of their mind" because I just paid that hugely oppressive fee of $19.99 for game content because I support the people that make the game and I don't find $19.99 to be much of anything. I bet you go to StealYourBucks and pay $7.99 for some cheap coffee and high fructose corn syrup mixed together by a sucker who works for $9.00 an hour too, DON'T YOU? Now what I have just said will offend everyone who engages in this activity or works there just as you offend everyone who buys something in this game.
If you can afford to pay $7.99 for a coffee that's actually great and if you choose to work at Starbucks for whatever wage they pay for your time and abilities have at it. I choose not to pay $7.99 for coffee and I choose not to work for $9.00 an hour either but that does not make those who do stupid.
The contempt this community has for people with means is utterly disgusting and downright scary. You should appreciate what you have and your current place in life that even allows you to post such nonsense in a forum on the internet, to begin with. In spite of what you think the world doesn't owe you a fucking thing and the sooner you change your twisted thinking and the ideologies that further this view the better off you will be.
I actually paid for the content with Amazon coins I received for free through promotions and buying the coins at huge discounts when offers are put up. Blizzard still gets paid and thus they will continue to make future content of which you can complain is not free and continue posting comments like this:
Why don't you make it clear? The dalaran heist is a scam.
So correct me if i am wrong but this content is somewhat very similar to kobold and catacombs and witchwood dungeon runs... well, tbh is the exact same thing but extended. And now you have to pay for the same i got for free to obtain 15 packs and useless legendary? fucking scam.
You can continue to wonder why you have nothing and your life is so bad why other people buy the content and enjoy it without giving a second thought about it.
I'm going out to dinner tonight with my wife. I'm going to be eating a very delicious meal at a very high-end restaurant and after that, I'm going to see Rocketman with her. I figure this night out will cost around $300 bucks. I will be giving the waiter or waitress a tip in the range of $25-$30 like I always do when I take my wife here. You can tell me I'm stupid for paying $100 for a piece of meat too and I'll laugh at you just like everyone else eating that same meat would laugh at you too.
You will still be bitching about how Blizzard fucks you and how this game is a scam. The rest of us will continue to enjoy life and god forbid, purchase content in Hearthstone.
You really should put some effort into making yourselves happy instead of hating those who are.
I was really excited to play this new game mode but I was really let down. The game mode is just a dungeon run 2.0 with very little innovation.
The money/gold requirement to buy the whole thing is not worth at all, it's essentially a dungeon run but with the cash grab.
Little innovation? Cash grab? Lets take a look at what your $20 gets you:
- 15 card packs - 1 Golden Legendary - 5 chapters of exclusive content - New deck-building feature (Tavern visits) - 9 Henchmen to play as. - Each of the henchmen have 4 different decks to choose from, and 4 different hero powers. - Dozens of unique bosses. - Even more new treasures added throughout each run.
Learn some gratitude, or go complain elsewhere.
You do understand they've done this in the past, almost like 5 years ago, and you got more from 100%ing it.
You got like 4 legendaries and an entire card set for 2400 gold.
Not to mention there were 2 gamemodes inside the regular gamemode with custom scenarios AND it had Heroic that was insanely hard that rewarded you with a card back.
I don't see anything from this Adventure worth any gold. Should of been free end of discussion.

Thats exactly what they told us it was going to be, so if we are getting what they advertised, how is it a scam?
New adventure was probably overhyped by the devs, with buzzwords like "the most ambitious single player experience" and stuff like that. (which is technicaly true, but it's not way above everything else they made thus far).
Also a shame they locked classes behind wings. Being forced to buy new wings to play classes that aren't mage feels "slightly" scummy.
that being said, I do think the amount of content is worth spending something (if you're into single player content), but If you're not into single player content it's an easy skip
I decided to spend my arena earnings on unlocking the wings but nothing else. I don't need to unlock everything as soon as it's available. the golden legendary is worthless for non new players, so there's really no reason to rush the adventure.
I think this one has massive replayability because of all the different hero powers and such. Plus l have all the solo adventures up to this point so l'm still going to play it.

First, you aren't a customer if you aren't buying anything, so no customer is being screwed.
If you truly believe it's not worth the price, you should not buy it. If you buy something you believe is not worth it, you are screwing yourself.
There is nothing sleazy about Blizzard taking money from those of us who think it is worth the price.
There is something very sleazy about people who don't think they should have to pay for their entertainment.

Bought second wing with gold on my secondary 100% F2P server. It is fun but... Really not to the point of making me prefer to play it over just going to the ladder or launching MTGa or some other game. When original dungeon run was released I played it more than actual hearthstone with a fresh meta. Now it is not fresh enough for me. Friendly encounters, alternative hero powers and other minor things just don't make it that different to something I already played a lot.
I cant speak for yall, but I'm having fun in this adventure. Sure it's a copy of other adventures, but I'm enjoying all of the new heroes and hero powers as well as treasures. Say what you want but if you dont enjoy it, dont buy it. My only complaint is having to wait a week for the next heroes to come out.
Hard pass for me. I didn't complete my first Rumble Run until I had rolled the Rumble Run quest for a 3rd time, which happened just a few weeks ago. If Blizzard included a new Hero skin in the rewards, I would have bought it.
