I know it's far away from now, and I know there are threads in which people tell what they want. But I want to ask you what do you think actually has a chance to be announced at Blizzcon?
Of course new expansion, but I also think some kind of an achievment system has realistic chances for reveal. Maybe not full developed achievment system, more like a test thingy. New hero portrait with pre-purchase will also be announced. I'm not counting on any ''new modes are in development'' announcement.
I keep seeing more ppl think that some kind of achievements are going to be announced in near future. There was literally zero information that should make you think that. Is this the new "tournament mode" thing that ppl will just say every time there is a possibility that anything new might get announced? Dont get me wrong, i would love them, but like where is this coming from? I guess say something enough times... :)
I honestly think it might have a lot to do with how the numbers go this year.
I do expect something slightly groundbreaking, though. The dip in sales last year probably scared them into pushing for some kind of new game mode or something. Maybe that's the new single-player stuff they are about to unravel. Maybe it's just smarter development with fewer meta-breaking cards that have to be nerfed or removed entirely.
Ideally, in a dream world, I'd like to see them announce a complete overhaul of Classic and Basic. The game has been around for five years, and they have a much greater understanding of what works and what doesn't than they did when Hearthstone was originally developed. The classes have wildly uneven core sets and hero powers; smoothing all that out would make future development less of a crap shoot.

Same thing that happens at every Blizzcon. They give details on a new expansion and not much else. There isn't anything else they are going to do with Hearthstone and they have made that clear. Anything past what is already there always gets the same reply from them; "A discussion has been started about that". But nothing ever changes.
I doubt they'll ever introduce game modes or features that are not spin-offs of the current ones.
HS may not be dieing, but its playerbase is unlikely to peak again. So putting any effort in anything that is not a widely mass-relevant feature would be a waste of developers.
Tournament would hardly be widespread.
Imo,the best they could do would be a Constructed Arena.
Achievements are overkill for a playerbase that is mostly formed by Casual-ish players.

2 vs 2 mode would be cool. You build a deck with a friend so both of your decks have synergy with each other. I mean this initial idea is flawed because you'd need have a person to build a deck with before doing it, otherwise if it was all random match making it would probably not wield all that great results, but some kind of co-op mode would be great IMO.
maybe an arena type system where you have to draft cards, but teams of 2 or 3 players are added to a team randomly. Not sure how the card selection would go down, but I'm sure it would be pretty original to have team based gameplay in a TCG.

Except for:
You may not personally care about all of these changes, but each one made a significant impact on a lot of players out there somewhere.
