I'm enjoying lately the summon mage, the list without Kalecgos.
Is it worth it to craft it ?
No, is much better use x2 Raven instead, you have, for now a least, a very good chance to get one Kalecgos from one of them when is a good card and don't is a dead card in your hand in early and midgame, this will change when the pool increase after more expansions released.
I've dusted it. Because for me it's not really a must-have card. I play ladder, and I rarely see a Kalecgos being drop down. I remember when everyone was saying "This card is so OP", "Meta-breaking", "Nerf on Day 1", etc. Lol
He was my free Legendary from the Pre order bundle and he's won me a few games. Most certainly not a Dust Candidate (10100110, bad call) and he can be clutch.
At worst he gets you a free spell and acts as a soft Taunt because your opponent has to kill him and at best he does the above, Clears a board and lives for a few Turns afterwards, giving you a huge bonus.
Since Im seeing more rogue over control warrior now I replaced Archivist in my dragon mage with him, and hes been a good inclusion for both the dragon activator as well as a final push card.
It's not core to Summoner Mage, which is a very flexible deck with several different packages you can run. The only thing that is truly core is Mountain Giant and Conjurer's Calling, even Khadgar is not core.
It's a good card if you want to build the deck in the dragon / extended value direction. Playing it with a conjurer's calling on 10 or power of creation is a ton of value, and it can also discover a clutch spell when you don't have any other outs sometimes. Kribo played a list with it to #29 legend two days ago so it's definitely a strong inclusion.
As far as it's power on it's own, it's a good card. Any deck that runs big spells going forward will probably play it.
Seems like 9/10 times I get garbage spells that do nothing while my opponent ALWAYS gets a summon spell, Fireball, or Pyroblast. Never fails. So ya it’s a good card if you are my opponent lmfao!
I got legend this season with Hunterace's mage deck which uses Kalecgos and it was underpeforming. It's not core for the deck for sure, better use Alexstrasza as it won quarter of the games for me.
He is not as strong as I expected him to be but he has allowed me to clear a few boards when I needed to. I don't think many mages are running big spells to benefit of him.
how could you dust this omega dragon, he is really strong in any mage you can imagine, very valuable card like ysera or malygos on board + discover a card
Current Mage meta relies on minions, but the card is ridiculously powerful. There's definitely merit to having it once future expansions come and meta evolves.
Even in the HTC world championship this weekend whenever Kalecgos was played, it got immediately removed/hexed. That's how much respect it's being given.
Compare to Khadgar, which is not RNG, just gives you extra tempo, sometimes a huge game winning boost of tempo. Just gives you more minions. The Dragon tag will come in handy down the road but were not there yet, not when Alex is objectively better in every respect for actually winning the game.

That's a mistake because Kale could become really good in a future expansion depending what new, big spells mage gets. I never bought into the Kele hype and haven't crafted him, but I won't dust any nonduplicates I get either.
I'm not sure if Kalecgos is great against slow decks, but it seems like a win-more or hail Mary card. It's never won a game for my opponent, and I get the feeling it's totally overrated.

if you like the deck, sure

But is a decent card.
He is only good in lists that include some Big Spells or Frost Nova at least. Unreliable elsewhere.
eg, if you're using the minion-heavy lists of the pros in the current HCT, Kalecgos is out of place.
Thank you guys, this is my feeling too, that it is not so vital yet. Maybe next expansions as some of you said.

I love mage and crafted it golden, i think now this card is powerful.

Who can say no to a Zero Cost Pyroblast?
4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔

If you can afford it, id say hes worth it.

If you are running dragons then you need him or Alex to reliably get battlecry trigger of Witchdoctor, Crowd Roaster and Dragonmaw.

Dusting cards on day 1 man you must be on crack no one can be stupid to dust legendary on day 1.
