Honestly not sure. It's all just neanderthal netdecking these days. Been playing since day 1 but it's probably time to quit. Any better card games where originality is rewarded?

Nope. Go to any Forum you like. Eternal, MtGA, Shadowverse, the complaints are the same. "Netdecks suck, OMFG this Meta is awful, RnG screwed me again!" etc etc.
Pick your poison dude, but the fact is that all CCG's haveuch the same problems as Hearthstone.
And I've been playing Eternal on and off for 2 years. Dire Wolf have had to Nerf a lot of things just to get some semblance of balance but it's still crazy.
If i have the resources for it i try not to look up any deck in the meta and make my own for the first 2 3 weeks, then i get bored and try the decks other people found out. Like this expansion i've played with my own brew of eureka shaman with x2 spirit of the frog and earth elementals, was pretty decent. Now since i've opened a zul jin I'm playing scalehide hunter from hct.

Serious statement, pick another genre. As another said, netdecking, tier lists, people playing what's popular is a natural element of the genre. It's like raging over build orders in a RTS or camping in a FPS.
There's things that other card games do/don't do that hearthstone does/doesn't do, so there's reasons to want to play here or not. But the reasons you are stating are pretty common in all card games. It only 'feels' like it isn't when you join a new game since you are too new to really know the competitive scene and EVERYTHING feels 'fresh'. After that period, you'll find the same trends. The issue is really that it's not carefully crafted challenges by the AI that's tooled more for providing a unique experience rather than winning. Good game AI isn't about trying to beat the opponent, but pretending to act like it wants to win and instead wanting to challenge and entertain. THAT is when you get fresh experiences.
VS players, especially thee general public, they are aimed at winning, NOT entertainment, so they will play what's popular, what's best, and will gladly do what's not fun for their opponent.
So in full honestly, I'd go with games with an AI opponent. Single player or multiplayer vs AI games.
If you want to play with other people, and they aren't close knit friends, then originality will come from you finding new and unique ways of fighting the same challenge.
As for why I play. I enjoy the game, and the game is so low in demand that no matter how little time I have I manage to find a way to 'keep up' with the game, even if it's just 1-2 games every 3 days. Meanwhile I'm not concerned with going competitive or my opponent entertaining me. What I want is new unique ways to test and tackle the same challenge and seeing how well they work.
Honestly not sure. It's all just neanderthal netdecking these days. Been playing since day 1 but it's probably time to quit. Any better card games where originality is rewarded?
I kinda agree.. this will be my last expansion. It is really became and even worst high role game..
I really hoped this expansion would shaken things up (should have know better).
The money i would spend on a (the) new Heartstone expansion will go to MtGA.
PS
This is not a salt post. This is how i feel about the state of the game making me pick a new game. I hoped i would enjoy this game for a bit longer, but unfortunately that is not the case. Need to find me a new mobile game tho.
for me i used to be a good yugioh player but i stopped cuz i dont like the game that much anymore i cant play in a tournment cuz i cant offer to buy cards irl hearthstone gave the challenge that i need without spending money also to prove to myself that im a good player i also like to play decks that i enjoy memes or not hearthstone RNG sometimes lends to some of the most riducious games ever also sometimes i love when i have a dumb idea for a deck and it sometimes work i feel proud of myself
Well, I play for a reason that may seem strange to other people: I actually enjoy the game and think it’s an excellent game as well. It has a lot of depth and variety which keeps things interesting and, despite of what a lot of people think, the game has a pretty high skill cap so there is always room to improve as a player. I like that. Of course there have been some tedious metas (like the mid range shaman meta a few years ago) but on the whole it’s been generally good
Another big plus for me is that I can play wherever I am on my phone or iPad. This is great because I travel a lot for work so I can queue up whenever I have some free time. I’m on vacation in Vietnam this week and no matter what time it is I can always get a game, even in Wild at 4am CET.
Ive never played WoW so I don’t care about the lore but the I like the characters and the art and the entire feel of the game. The sounds and overall production is tip top as well. It works for me and it’s the only game I play.
Edit: I’ve been playing since 2015. That’s the longest time a game has ever held my interest aside from Street Fighter II Champion Edition which I still love and it’s probably been over twenty years!
Edit 2: also the game is fun. I’ve had so many incredible games, crazy long control/value battles that have just been awesome regardless of whether or not I won. And some games where I somehow found a way to win when the situation looked absolutely hopeless. That to me is probably the main reason I keep coming back for more: HearthStone is an awesome game. Well made and a lot of fun to play.
Just going to quote this rather than type a very similar post. Your post pretty much echoes my thoughts and feelings.
Because I like Warcraft? Some of the characters here are also my childhood memories like Jaina, Uther, Thrall. Good reminiscence.
Funny story, I didn't even know Hearthstone was based on WoW lore when my friend convinced me to play until I played the tutorial and saw Jaina. I was like 'Hey, it's Jaina Proudmoore. Is Illidan in this game?' haha.

Not true. MtgA got waaaaay more game modes.
And also HS is so minion focused, not able to answer a wide board is almost an auto-lose due to the lack of AoE (again compared to MtgA).
Very true. Go do some research guy. There's as many people fed up with MTGA as Hearthstone as Eternal as Shadowverse etc.
The fact is that as much as you seem to laud it, MTGA has flaws and WoTC want your money just as much as Blizzard.
Don't hold up MTGA as a shining exemplar of all that's right and good when it isn't.
He isn't and he is correct.
Other card games do NOT have all of the same problems as HS, and HS doesn't have the same problems of other card games. For example, MTG does have a lot more game modes as was said. HS, meanwhile, doesn't have MTG's mana system which takes the worst of GvG era RNG and turns it into a core mechanic for every game.
If your issue is netdecking or not having full control over the outcome of your game (i.e. your win/loss being heavily determined by what card you drew) then you have an issue with the core elements of the genre and probably need to find a different strategy style.
If your issue is in how the game is balanced or the game modes then that's a HS issue and you should probably look into other card games as there are SO MANY and most of them are very good at their own things.
And of course if you are fine with this game then stay.
Originally it was to scratch the nostalgia itch that I had from playing MTG like 20 years ago. Now it's because I enjoy deck building and coming up with fresh ideas, even if they're not good ladder decks.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
I only play arena
I kinda agree.. this will be my last expansion. It is really became and even worst high role game..
You kinda know who will win from turn 3..
vs. Mage; can't answer a turn 4 Mountain Giant into Conjurer's Calling = lose.
Warrior mirror; opponent draws Dr. Boom, Mad Genius first = prolly lose.
vs. aggro; don't draw AoE = lose.
I can come up with mor examples, but you get the (my) point.
There are so many match-ups that are decided by like turn 3 :( .
And at the moment there is like only deck per class (people play the same deck 95% of the time - 2 to 4 card might differ)..
Casual = ladder.
No new game modes.
I really hoped this expansion would shaken things up (should have know better).

I only said MtGA doesn't have the same problems. I also didn't say MtGA is the 'better' game in that specific reply (tho in my opinion it is).

For me it was the substitute for playing poker. Hearthstone is a little less lost money ;)
