If I’m sitting at the bottom of rank five trying a new deck sometimes I just let people win, especially if they’re at six trying to get in. Is it just me?

Depends on what my opponent is playing. If it is just another Netdeck and he is misplaying it, i have no interest in letting them win. On the other hand, if i really his deck and we fight well till the end i'll give the win to them.
I mean..I often playtest some whacky decks when I'm on any rank floor, since I've got nothing to lose
I guess that counts?
Other than that I really don't concede out of pity because I want to farm gold efficiently...the only reason why I would ever concede a won game is if I feel bad for really highrolling the shit out of my opponent or something....but most of the time the decks you face at that rank are just netdecked copy-pastes anyways so I don't really feel like I'm obligated to allow them to reach rank 5 since they'll do it anyways with a meta deck.
I don't play to lose seeing as how I have nothing to win other than increasing the counter on my total wins counter which is going to hit 23k soon. When they make the new rewards for class wins they BETTER not reset the counters. Im close to 2500 with druid who i have made legend with numerous times... I want those new rewards IMMEDIATELY blizzard. Ive been here since the start and you should be happy Ive stayed through it all.
I do. Once I make it that far I play decks that are so shitty they are basically giving my opponents the win.

Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
Please don't. I've had this happen a few times and it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. It felt like my entire climb got invalidated. Rank 5 is easy so at least let people have their small sense of accomplishment
Depends on their deck. Tempo rogue or control warrior? Hell no, you're getting memed on and I will play the game out for 40 minutes if I have to to keep your ass out.
I love how some of the biggest salt-lords on this forum are the douchiest when it comes to gatekeeping. I exclusively play my own homebrews and will gladly concede to other unique decks after a hard fought game when I’m at the rank floor if it gets them closer. T1/2 netdecks I won’t give the win to.
Lol I could have guessed that Sherman and Kaladin would be the ones who don't ever do that in any circumstance. Frustration smells from far away.
When I'm rank 15-10-5 I'll play a shitty deck until rank 14-9-4 and concede very easily, because there is no point trying hard when you can't lose ranks.
I concede right at start, to any lvl (6, 7, 8) sometimes even repeatedly against same player queueing right back into me. I had opponents with 3 or 4 consecutive gifted wins (at non-peak time). Some thank me, even keep me in friend list and we talk about game from time to time.
Also, I do think and expect that normal people do this as favor (to others and to me), since the grind to the next bracket is already difficult as it is. Conceding at bottom of lvl bracket (5, 10, 15) takes a minute to be a selfless / decent / emphathetic to someone else, who can really appreciate it. And it can save possibly hours to the other player at lvl 6 (11, 16, ...) .
I see a lot of people take it as a die-hard competition. Well, there are also rewards, which I think for quite a lot of people (including me) are the only reason to (sometimes) bother with the grind. If you can't possibly give up a minute for someone to get reward or save a lot of time, I don't get it, but of course it's your choice.

When I was legend with really bad rank, i gave free wins to rank 1 people
Yes it is

Always expect the unexpectable!

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
Hell no, in fact, I take it as a personal challenge to gate-keep the fuck out of them. Earn your rank!

I only give free wins to my kids.
I help people up to rank 5 if I see them. A loss means far less to me than the win means to them.

Why not? By the end of the month, empathy gets me. And I want everybody to enjoy the game as much as I do!
Yep.

I don't, but whenever I climb, whoever the gatekeeper is does lol
as a beginner itself, I'm thankful for players who let me win just so I can have a rank so I'm doing it for other as well :D
Accepting is for Losers, Re-Learning is for winners.

getting r5 is easy af. so no i won't ever give a free win at that gate. however i do it when i have a bad legend rank and i like my opponents deck.
