I'm messing around with some variations of a Conjurer Mage Deck, but according to every site, this deck gets better with Kalecgos. I have enough dust to craft him, but is it worth?
I think he sucks with the current options for decks, would not craft, but if you really wanna play him go for it. He needs a deck maining Pyroblast to be worth it imo.

Hello sir, hope you are enjoying the new exp! Been doing the same, I personally think it just a win more card and if you made it to 10 mana you already have a high chance to win. Its a really cool card though and I don't regret crafting it.
In wild Kalecgos has skyrocketed in usefulness for me personally. Kalecgos into a 10 mana potion during long games that lets you cast another 10 mana potion next turn if your opponent doesn't remove it. Or Kalecgos into FS and something next turn.
Idk where these people are getting their data...Kalecgos is in the Tier 2 Summoning Mage deck. He is a great card in it, and allows Mage to do well in control match-ups where the opponent took down their giants... This is terrible that these people are giving you this bad advice when there is clearly date proving otherwise. The played win-rate of this card is amongst the highest in the deck on top of it!
I play Mage, so I crafted every single card from the Expansion. It depends on how much you like Mage and will be playing it in the future. He will only get better through the expansion cycles.
I pulled it from a pack, and I really like into. Even just getting the spell discover is pretty nice. Blizzard and Flamestrike, even Polymorph or Fireball give him a lot of reach to make some board impact when you play him.
I think Pyroblast is actually one of the worse uses of the card. Unless you discovered it. Pyroblast is a good finisher, but when you play Kalecgos you're really more interested in getting some tempo or taking back the board.
I've played mainly Conjurer Mage and Mech Secret Paladin this last 2 weeks so I've gathered a nice bit of information on this deck. Kalecgos is the type of card that allows you to have powerful turns but it sucks to draw it super early because it's obviously gonna be dead at least until turn 10, still, I think it's decent enough to be a nice addition for the deck. One very powerful turn is Kalecgos + Power of Creation, it's honestly a back breaker against most decks. Also not to mention that Kalecgos also gives you a spell so it can help you clear boards and even give you lethal. Even a turn like trading (or going face whatever) with a minion on board and then going Kalecgos + Conjurer's Calling is still pretty decent.
Also keep in mind that people panic heavily when they see old Kalecgos, even if you have a deck with not many spells (8 spells total if you count Firetree Witchdoctor) and most of them are not even too insane to get at 0 cost (Like it's still nice tempo gain but for obvious reason a 0 mana Conjurer's Calling or Book of Specters is not the most insane turn ever tbh), but people just see the Your first spell each turn costs (0) and they dump all their resources to kill it.
The real answer your looking for is this... Is Kalecgos worth it? sure it's a solid card, with a tribal tag on it, it's an activator for your dragon synergies, it can help you with super strong tempo plays with the spells you have on your deck and it has nice utility cause it allows you to discover a good spell that saves your ass or gives you lethal. Then comes the question is Kalecgos needed? No, not really, like yeah it can win you some games but it's not a card you need to win most games, Mountain Giant,Twilight Drake and Book of Specters are some examples of cards you need to win with this deck, at least on most games.
I've seen people running Alexstraza as it has both nice offensive and defensive utility and it's a solid threat and ok with the Conjurer's amd you still keep the same amount of activators on your deck. There are other options depending on how the meta looks, I'm running Apxvoid's list: https://twitter.com/Apxvoid/status/1116541704218107904, if there's a lot of control on the meta (Warrior and Shaman mainly) you can cut the Rotten Applebaum and run a second Astromancer and swap the MCT for those new ravens and also running Alexstraza instead of Safeguard (alongside Kalecgos) sounds insane, the list on the link is for a more aggro meta with Tempo Rogues and Zoos. If your meta is full out aggro, for sure cut the Kalecgos and Astromancer and maybe Safeguard and Rotten Applebaum or like an extra scorcher and an amalgam maybe?
The definite answer to your question is that the card is good, it's probably continue to see play as we get more expansions (And mage gets more defensive tools) so it's looking like a safe craft so at the end of the day the decision comes down to your dust situation, if you have dust to spare just go for it, the card is great (I love that sweet art) but if you have only the 1600 dust or something close to it, I would save it for like 2 more weeks and check again, the deck looks like it's gonna be a solid Tier 2 but it's still too early to tell. Use your dust wisely my friend.
The meta right now is a tad too fast for Kalecgos in my opinion. Even if you do get a chance to play him, you're not going to get much value out of him, besides the discover. You're playing 3 spells in the deck, one of which costs 2 and the other costs 3. The reason you'd want to play Kalecgos is to try and highroll the discover is you lost your giants in the early game. I wouldn't craft him, but if you pull him from a pack or really, really want to, then go ahead and put him in your deck.

Edit: Which card can I use to replace him?

Has a great potential but yeah, it didnt find a home yet.

I don't own the card so no data from playing it myself.
You should note though: from my experience playing against it, I'm pretty sure it's bugged. Text should actually read 'Discover a Pyroblast'
