OP , i stopped reading at the moment you said 'no one likes to be forced to play certain decks' , wanna counter the meta? play a deck that has good match ups with the meta , don't wanna do that? at least tech against it , you cant expect every deck to win against every other deck
I had a flick through my game history with zoo lock and warrior and druid seemed fairly 50/50. I don't think it's unbeatable by any stretch. Its a good deck and you need to get control of the board and keep it but taunts, rush and clears help with that. Abomination and mind control tech could also be useful and are both neutral, I don't run either.
Currently at rank 3 with warrior, i've found that mossy horror and baron geddon are very strong vs token Druid, also they are useful in others matchups too.

Yeah, Geddon is very strong against token druid, it is now staple in my cw, as it is quite good against any other aggro too.
Geddon comes right after t8 twinspell and makes druid play suboptimal next turns, forcing him to remove it or play big minions from portal. So you have free turns to play herocard or draw, to be prepared for next tokent waves. And sometimes druid just conceeds when see Geddon on table :)
@OP, if you have really been playing as long as you say you have then you should be familiar with how the style of deck works and what you need to beat it as a control player. I have a feeling you are more of a casual player that throws decks together that are supposed counters while having no clue what cards are important. I have run various control shamans, warlocks, and warriors and have 0 issue with token druid as they run out of steam and die. Can you get nut drawn and beaten because of card draw rng, of course. Control playstyles have simply changed and been forced to play a different way versus traditional sit on our ass and do nothing. Sometimes you need to play for board when a deck like token druid exhausts your board clear resources.
TLDR: Watch your own replays and become a better player by adapting and trying different cards or decks instead of coming to forums after getting your teeth kicked in by a specific deck.
I'll never understand the repeating threads. You could have picked any one of the three other threads, one of which is still on the first page, in which to say this.
That not withstanding, obviously token druid preys on midrange and lesser aggro decks, but what I find most interesting is how well this deck illustrates how gigantic a change this most-recent rotation represents.
The sole reason that Token Druid fell out of favor in Year of the Raven is the priest class. Priest decks were very popular, and they frequently played both Psychic Scream and Mass Dispel. The former auto wins the game if it's cast against a board of 1/1s. The latter, paired with a Duskbreaker or Mass Hysteria, erases the win conditions of the deck.
Now that we're missing these two cards from Standard, priest is arguably the MOST vulnerable class to this deck. And you know what? I love it. I love it because the nature of standard rotation schedules is that the game changes in radical ways every year.
Furthermore, I love it because Blizzard willfully raped Druid last year, and it's karmic justice that the deck many folks complain about is still Druid. If Blizzard nerfs of HoFs any more of Druid's cards, and I remind you all that relatively few of the basic/classic Druid cards haven't been "adjusted" at this point, the class will functionally be dead. Time will tell whether Blizzard will once again bend to the will of the masses.
Because of the utterly pathetic power levels of druid classic cards, they will constantly have to introduce new viable cards, or there will be no druid decks played. Consequently, every year we'll be holding our breath to see whether the devs have broken druid completely, or made it so underpowered, we may as well forget the class exists. I'm sure we'll see some of both over the next few years, but rarely will there be a third state of the class.
Hey pathetic trol...in history of HS druid never had uterly bad meta..look to past on Priest with worst basic set
I had to resort to Token druid to get any sort of climbing done on the ladder right now. It's a good deck, but every control warrior/shaman craps on it. I also can't seem to beat mages either (despite HS replay saying it's a favorable matchup). Token druid is really weak to AoE clears if they don't get minions to hit with soul of the forest (or in my case never draw the damn card) they just die to any sort of removal. Most of my wins are against Bomb Warrior or other aggro decks. Turn 4-6 wins aren't all that common. Most of my games go to turn 8-10. While it's technically an aggro deck It feels more like a midrange deck and, at least in my experience, takes more strategy than the average face deck.
All that aside, Druid got nerfed into oblivion last expansion and lost the only decent removal they had with the rotation. Literally all the class has now is the token package, everything else is garbage.
I'm sorry for my "trol"ing. Never said a word about priest. The thread is about druid. And druid may have "never" had a bad meta, which by the way, is completely untrue, because there was once a meta where shaman was the only viable deck, but it does have a terrible basic/classic set.
No priests were injured in the making of this post.

Yeah druids were mostly a crap class until KoFT because none of their archtypes could function effectively in the meta.
I don't know how I feel about the fatigue package you've got there. It's only really useful against a control deck, but shaman and warrior are both vastly superior in that matchup. You're probably better off cutting those for other cards I think. High Priestess is an interesting addition, hadn't thought to put her in a deck without any discard synergy.

That's total BS, FoN/SR Druid, Jade Druid, Aggro and Malygos Druid were popular before KoFT.
Given that the general power level of cards is currently weaker it's fine to tech in a couple of A-bombs or tunnel blasters if you're facing a lot of token druid. If the net gain on your win rate is positive overall otherwise just accept it's a bad match up for your deck and move on

FoN/SR wasn't a deck it was just a powerful combo (weak by today's standards), it got nerfed before it became really good. Jade Druid was popular but it was a tier 3 deck until KoFT. Malygos Druid wasn't consistent before KoFT either. Aggro druid is like zoolock, it's always popular even when it's not particularly good. Druid's mechanics have made it popular in most every meta but popular doesn't mean good. KoFT was when Druids got a huge push

FoN/SR was the finisher in Midrange Druid, that deck was T1 from Warsong nerf till FoN nerf. Malygos Druid was T1 before Yogg nerf. Jade Druid was super good against Reno decks and used to get destroyed by Patches aggro decks, hence the infamous rock-paper-scissors meta of MSoG. Aggro Druid was top tier in Un'goro and KoFT pre nerf.
So no, Druid has always been a super powerful class with T1 decks in most metas before KoFT and after that it became unbearable.
Are you just willfully ignoring the time period you omitted? I never said druid was underpowered throughout all of HS; that's a weird contention.
YOU said it has ALWAYS been super powerful in the past, and YOU are incorrect in that statement. I simply listed a time when your statement was self-evidently false.
None of which reaches the point that they have screwed over the basic/classic set for this class. I don't even know what you are arguing, "druid was good in the past, so that makes it fine to have no infrastructure in the base sets"? They applied that theory to shaman after the midrange fiasco, and we got one year of absolutely nothing viable, and a subsequent year with Shudderwock and only Shudderwock.
Why is that a good thing?

I'm afraid this is how Blizzard works. They nerf classics and basics in order to create powerful cards and sell packs.
Wild Growth is a fair nerf, after all, it was pretty much used in every non-aggro druid deck but Nourish, I think it was an overkill for druid.
Blizzard will probably say they did it because of the interaction with that new legendary minion that gives you copies of both choose one. Ok, fine. If that's the case, then why not change that legendary to only give you a copy of the one you didn't choose to cast? Why does it have to give both copies? Because they want the card to be powerful in order to give players a reason to sell their soul for it.
So yeah, if they're going to nerf druid, they'll probably nerf Wrath and Mark of the Wild, even tho, those cards aren't the problem.
Literally the only thing it does is spamming the board. And it can kill you on turn 4 even. So its a tad bit too strong for my liking as well especially because there is no thought needed to play this deck.

At least there is some counter play to druid, you can keep his board clear and not die.
You can keep a warrior and rogues board clear and still die. They are the true cancer.
